The Chickasaw Indians were a small group of Indians, consisting of a estimated amount of 5,000 people in the 1600's. They were people who were very coordinated and established their homes at close proximity. They held life at a high esteem, and had several towns and villages that incorporated present-day elements. In the year of 1827 the Cherokee Indians declared themselves a nation by drafting a constitution. “The discovery of gold was made just after the creation and passage of the original Cherokee Constitution” (“A Brief History of the Trail of Tears 1”). Aware that the native Indian land was in danger of being encroached upon by new settlers, the Indians went to the government to create an arrangement to protect their lands. “The Cherokees signed treaties ceding portions of their land to the United States” (Bjornlund 8).

One of the many activates that the Shawnees would do is move to large villages in the summer time to be close to one another. All the men, women, and children would go to these villages in the summer time and build their homes. They build the houses out of bark log trees. The member of the Cherokee Nation and Hispanic woman had a child together. But before child was born, man refused to help woman in anyway: mentally or financially. After baby girl was born, it was extremely difficult for the mother of a child to raise her on her own. Because woman already had 2 older kids that she was taking care of. Woman offered to man either to pay child support or give up his parental rights; entire conversation was over the text messages. A new cultural group that should appear in Peoples of the Worlds next semester, are the Cherokee, also known as Ani-Yun’wiya. The Cherokee are a Native American tribe and are part of the North American region. Artifacts that have been discovered indicate they have been living in North America for more than 11,000 years. The Cherokee Nation has a population of around 300,000 tribal members, making them one of the largest federally recognized tribes in the United States.
