Descartes observes that he cannot be certain about neither his beliefs nor anything at the end of his argument Mediation 1. Meditation 1 is one of Descartes philosophical argument about the certainty of things. To start, Descartes realizes a large majority of the things he had knowledge of as a child, may have been false. He decides to start from the foundation and forget everything he had known. It took him several years to start his project because he truly wanted to investigate without having judgement about his opinions. For time sake, Descartes decides not to go through all his opinions and get rid of any beliefs that was built on top of the foundational beliefs. These are beliefs were form from other beliefs.
