Professional Development System for Adjunct Instructors of University Coursework
Staffing Needs Considerations
ABA Technologies, Inc. contracts to provide university online courses for professional development, various certifications and a hybrid Master of Arts in Professional Behavior Analysis. In addition, my company provides professional consults, workshops, and webinars. Currently we have a core group of approximately 16 full time employees, three, part timers, and 35 contracted adjunct instructors.
Heroman, Davis and Farmer (2012) note that it is important to use a demand forecast to determine staffing needs and the capacity of those staff. Staffing needs for our ongoing coursework are forecast based on data from prior students

Odden (2011) notes that for each employee position, human capital management should be equated with structuring the knowledge, skills and desired outcomes of each position. In accordance with Odden (2011), our consulting positions are formulated based on the potential knowledge, skills and expected outcomes for individual applicants.
Selection
Staff Selection Process
The staff selection process outlined below is specific to my current company which is ABA Technologies. However the basic steps would be similar for staff selection and hiring processes.
Characteristics and Requirements
Desired characteristics for employees should include specific characteristics related to the job for which they are to be hired, skills for the job itself, and traits that fit with the company that is hiring (Goldberg, 2010). For an online instructor position at ABA Technologies Inc., this would include good interpersonal skills with the ability to provide instruction in a competent, friendly manner. Instructors must be able to teach assigned synchronous class sections, have good time management skills and be able to respond to emails within 24 hours. Gochman and Storfer (2014) note a primary valuable characteristic is that of being able to resourcefully adapt regardless of circumstances. Requirements for instructors at ABA Technologies, Inc. would include having the current credential of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with practical background
“The most successful nations in the future will be those which develop high quality, skilled and motivated workforces and make good use of them.” Government White Paper (1994)
The important of continually improving knowledge and practice is that you can ensure that you are aware of any new relevant legislation and also you can improve the service that you provide. It also gives you the opportunity to reflect on what you are good at as well as what you are not so good at, so that you can see what areas you can improve in.
* It helps in recognising lifelong learning and society’s need for a productive and capable workforce.
The purpose of this unit is to assess the learner’s knowledge, understanding and skills required to promote the professional duty to maintain the currency of knowledge and skills and the need to continually reflect on and improve practice.
Within my role, it is important to continually improve knowledge and practice so I am aware of how to give the best diverse and equal care to children, stay fully up to date with all standards and legislations.
Reflective practice can be used by workers to enhance their performance and practice at work.
As a human resources manager, the primary task is to ensure that only the best candidates are called for interview. In essence, academic credentials are not enough to determine a candidate’s suitability. During the interview, it is important to ensure that the applicant has required skills to meet the firm’s objectives. For example, a given person might have the best academic qualifications as per the job’s description but lack other important aspects such as ability to work in the team and good communication skills. During the interview, such traits should be noted to disqualify applicants who cannot meet fundamental requirements of a team player.
This assignment describes my own Professional Development Plan (PDP) for the first six months of my nurse registration. Following a PDP will show my commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), otherwise known as PREP (CPD). PREP stands for Post-Registration Education and Practice and is a set of Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and guidance that help nurses give the best possible care (NMC PREP Handbook 2006 p3); part of which is a commitment to CPD. CPD is a process of learning activities designed for individuals to reach their full potential, so they provide the highest possible standards of patients care (NMC PREP Handbook 2006 p9). By following a PDP I will develop my knowledge, understanding
This worldwide phenomenon has been brought into focus by various health care reforms and other system-level developments (Farrar, Ryan, Ross, and Ludbrook, 2000). Meaning there are more claims on resources than there are resources available, some form of priority setting must occur. This making resources are scarce and there is a need, regardless of how many resources are available in total, to make choices about what to fund and what not to fund.
The field of family therapy, particularly the approach of systemic family therapy, is popular not only in the United States but also all across Europe. While this course was designed for future family therapists in the U.S., this paper tries to identify characteristics and differences of the profession’s European counterpart. Several noteworthy differences in degree and educational requirements were identified as well as the professional associations which are responsible for practitioners in Germany and Europe in general. However, it is important to state that the main principles of both the American and European family therapy profession are similar, if not identical, which illustrates the interconnectedness of professionals across the world. Consequently, the purpose of this paper is to identify ways of developing a professional identity and promoting professional development throughout and beyond graduate studies in the field of family therapy.
Initially I thought that I had little research experience except for gathering information regarding falls and looking for solutions to prevent them. Then I began thinking about all of the times that I have turned to journal articles when looking for information related to best practices in patient care. I hope to learn to develop a better understanding of the research process and to conduct my own research in courses to come.
Nursing is one of the most popular professions in healthcare. To become a professional nurse, one must acquire certain level of education, whether it is at associate or baccalaureate degree level. Once becoming a nurse a number of professional standards must be maintained to stay abreast with the profession. In that respect, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in its 2010 report had suggested many recommendations focusing on the future of nursing. The aim of the report is to put forth recommendations that allow nurses to “(1) ensure that nurses can practice to the full extent of their education and training (2) improve nursing education, (3) provide opportunities for nurses to assume leadership positions and to serve as full
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines professionalism as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. Yet the White Paper on Pharmacy Student Professionalism says it is displaying values, beliefs and attitudes that put the needs of another about your personal needs. There is still another definition. The Medical Professionalism Project says professionalism is the basis of medicine's contract with society. It demands placing the interests of patients above those of the physician, setting and maintaining standards of competence and integrity, and providing expert advice to society on matters of health. In my opinion, a person's attitude, values, and behaviors
In November of 2010, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health”. This special report examined the current state of nursing and changing landscape of the American healthcare system and offered recommendations for the future role nurses should play. The committee that released the report, Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, divided it into three parts. Part II of the study, focused on transforming the nursing profession in order to improve America’s healthcare system. In order to achieve this transformation, the committee recommended that nurses attain higher levels of education and training, practice to the full extent of that education and training, and assume more
