This coffee shop has been in operation since a decade. Coffee shop provides the coffee lovers a unique taste of Coffee with blend of ancient Italian roaster. The coffee shop also offers juices, sandwiches, snacks, chocolates, cakes as side orders. It primarily employs college students as its employees and the management of the coffee shop constitutes of senior students. So, its management lacks experience and skills of leadership and managing employees in a way that yields positive performance and results. Moreover, the organization is poorly structured that has resulted in the decline in its revenue and profit. The purpose of employing students as its employees is to get the work done in in-convenient hours and under low wages. These practices have demotivated employees resulting in escalation of their turnover intentions.
Key Steps for Organization
The purpose or aim of every organization is to establish such an organizational culture and behavior among its employees that helps in achievement of ideal ethical standards. There are certain determinants that play a critical role in helping achieve the right organizational culture. Some of these include personal moral intensity, social ties, codes of ethics, locus of control and Machiavellianism. These

After an organization fully understands the factors of ethical leadership, then they are closer to building a workplace based on ethical factors. Once understanding is done, coming up with a vision for the organization is important. The vision that is set is the goal and purpose for the specific organization. It helps with the guidelines for reaching success and conducting proper matters. The vision of an organization should set leaders and followers down the same path, as well as influence and motivate employees and customers. Establishing proper ethical leadership within the organization, it must be ensured that the vision formed targets the company and the subordinates, as they are also contributing to the growth and success of the
Leadership is a partnership between two or more people, so it is necessary to design a guideline that allows a leader to create an ethical organization. Even though leadership is impossible without followers, a person must first transform their own ethical theory into a process before they can teach or require ethical behavior from others. Leaders must incorporate their ethical beliefs and decision making template into everyday life. The personal ethics of a leader will cast a light on organizations that will create an ethical climate. This climate fosters ethical conduct from others and will be beneficial when designing an organization. Research, such as Stanley Milgram’s obedience experiments, “demonstrates ethical conduct of individuals in organizations is influenced greatly by their leaders” (Hitt, 1990, p. 3). Personally putting theory into practice will prevent leaders from demeaning the difficulty of not only ‘walking the talk,’ but also the complexity of leading a long-term successful and ethical organization. The strategies and necessities discussed throughout this paper regarding personal ethics make it possible for a leader to organize a company that transfers theory into practice. The personal concepts and templates previously discussed can be adjusted to work for an entire organization. It is assumed that every CEO’s intention is to build an ethical organization. However, many underestimate the importance of understanding ethics, leading by example and
Companies are supposed to be able to achieve and demonstrate an ever increasing performance showing improvement on leading in their industries to acquire competitive advantages. Having a high level of performance could be greatest achieved with competent and motivated employees. The conduct of business in an organization with an ethical manner is of great importance to secure an increasing performance as well. Organizations functioning towards ethical standards should ensure unbiased applications of business and recall a sense of justice to stimulate motivation among their employees. Employees that are motivated through a positive ethical organizational climate and leadership do much better than a less motivated employee. This promotes the organizational achievement that causes
This assignment is an attempt to look for the role of organisational leaders in fostering ethical behaviour in an organisations.
Organizations who want to be successful must commit to finding leaders who are willing to exemplify ethical behaviors and promoting virtue in their particular organizations. For example, successes in large corporate companies like Mattel have anecdotal history of having firm values and principles in the beginning, which provided strength, direction, and discipline. In order to have an organization with a strong moral culture, we must have virtuous leaders that are willing to promote ethical decisions based on principle solely from policy. Ethical distinction within the corporate framework is imperative not only to employees but as well to the customers. In fact, the more a company can provide a reputation for exhibiting ethical decisions, the stronger the organization’s ethical culture becomes. Likewise, an ethical theory of organizing in the sense of morality is needed because the relationship between organizations and society is a kind of trustee relation (Simon 1995).
The two aspects of what organizations are doing to create an ethical climate and what they could be doing to augment and incrementally the ethical foundations of an enterprise are discussed in this analysis. The catalyst of ethical behaviors, cultures and frameworks is the senior manager, leader and often the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm (Brown, 145). As many in the organization seek to emulate this person's values, perceptions and actions, the extent to which a CEO chooses to model ethical behavior will have an immediate and lasting effect on the ethical climate of their organizations. It can and does set the foundation for future ethical maturity and growth as well (Brown, Trevino, Harrison, 121).
Ethics can be defined as a conception of what is right or wrong, moral or immoral, how we think or behave towards others and how others think and behave towards us. Workplace ethics can be defined as the moral principles that govern a person’s or group’s behavior in the workplace when representing your company. In this paper, the main focus will be on ethics and how important it is in the workplace. I strongly believe that ethics is necessary for the workplace in today’s modern day business society. Ethics is not only considered important in business, but rather in all aspects of our lives because it is a vital part of the basis on which our society is built. In general, any business or organization that lacks the necessary ethical principles is obviously on the path to instant failure at some point in its existence.
The survival of an organization depends upon the integration of business codes with the societal ethics. Ethics concentrates on the general nature of morals and the specific moral choice an individual makes in relationship to others. It represents the rules and regulations governing conduct of the member of a profession. The area of focus in this essay is to explore the effects of business ethics.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the manner in which ethics promoted by human resource management affects the operations of an organization. The human resource management is responsible for implementing the accepted behavior of the stakeholders to ensure that the company runs smoothly. The company is dependent on the human resource in maintaining and promoting ethical behaviors as it has the responsibility of educating, training and communicating the behavior of the stakeholders. This paper clarifies the manner in which the human resource management engages in various operative activities for instance protecting the company from infringing the set laws and regulations through practicing unethical behaviors. It is very easy for the human resource management to implement a code of ethics through the established policies of the company that establishes the ethical behavior and helps in governing the daily activities of the organization. It is evident that promoting ethics yields more benefits to the organization as for instance the employees are motivated thereby increasing the productivity of the company.
Ethical behaviour is the ability to make decisions to act in the morally acceptable manner Dalke & Ankerstar, 1995, p.7). It is critical in any organization because it helps in building a good reputation that becomes a company’s selling point. A good reputation enhances mutual understanding between the company and its publics that is the stakeholders, government, employees, customers and the general public. It gains the company a competitive edge in the business environment. It is an essential element that the company should emphasise on. This paper focuses on the scenario provided and it discusses how the employee and the management can enhance ethical behaviour.
Organisational leaders exhort the importance of managing the organizational culture to promote a high standard of ethical conduct among organizational members. A shining example is Johnson and Johnson, the pharmaceuticals company. Whose success in the marketplace and capacity to turn disaster into ethical “runs on the board” is legendary. Their doctrine affirms a responsibility to the doctors, nurses and patients, to mothers and all others who use J&J products and services and to their employees and to the community in which the company is operational and to the investors.
As companies expand their operations across the globe, new trends and issues arise daily that could create burdens to organizations. The need for international business ethical practices within organizations has become critical in day-to-day operations and in avoiding legal issues. With public scandals and misleading practices companies have affected the public’s views and opinions of many organizations. Implementing strategies such as codes of conduct guides multinational organization in the efforts of following ethical standards. When ethical norms are in conflict, owning different cultural practices, ethical norms guides businesses conduct in other nations and cultures .Pointing that ethical aspect of employees’ conduct has an overall impact on the productivity of an organization.
