Evaluation of Statistics and Error Bars:
“Toxicity Inhibitors Protect Lipid Membranes from Disruption by Aβ42”
Presenting quantities in a research study requires use of statistical methods. Use of statistics help to determine the trend in the studies population. Statistical methods also help to interpret and compare research data and determine significance of the findings. Due to variety of statistical methods, it is crucial to adopt an appropriate statistical approach before the conducting the experiments. Furthermore, the representation of individual data points as well as the general trend (e.g. mean) are critical for data comparison and interpretation in an experiment. Article, “Toxicity Inhibitors Protect Lipid Membranes from Disruption by Aβ42” uses statistics to represents experimental data and quantities (R Malishev et al. 2015). The statistics was used to present the data from thioflavin T (ThT) fluorescence assay, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, and Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) (R Malishev et al. 2015). Evaluation of the error bars, statistical design, and p-value is essential to determine the appropriateness of statistical method in the R Malishev et al. paper.
Looking at different sections of the R Malishev et al. paper, there is no indication of whether the statistical method is adopted before or after conducting the experiments. The figure 2 represents the fibrillation kinetic of the Aβ42, which were obtained from ThT assay. According to
Due to financial hardship, the Nyke shoe company feels they only need to make one size of shoes, regardless of gender or height. They have collected data on gender, shoe size, and height and have asked you to tell them if they can change their business model to include only one size of shoes – regardless of height or gender of the wearer. In no more 5-10 pages (including figures), explain your recommendations, using statistical evidence to support your findings. The data found are below:
Questioning is a method of testing knowledge by asking the learner a series of questions related to the performance criteria. It is important that the assessor plans the questions beforehand, ensuring that open questions are used, and identifies the means of recording them, whether it be written; voice recorded or videoed. Questioning can be a very useful assessment method used alongside other methods. With observation, in particular, ‘what if’ questions can be used for evidence that might be hard to obtain, for example.

According to the website http://womenissues.about.com/cs/abortionstats/a/aaabortionstats.htm there are approximately 126,000 abortions conducted each day throughout the world. This website includes the abortion statistics of the world and breaks the data down to the demographics of the United States. It also discusses the decisions to have an abortion and the use of contraceptives in the United States. This was an informative website and included detailed statistics conducted by the Alan Guttmacher Institute. According to the website http://www.bls.gov/cps in 2000, gon average there were roughly 135 million employed and 6 million unemployed people in the labor force in the United States.h (p. 3) The websites definition of
Assume 20% of all email is spam. A large Internet provider plans on conducting a survey of 900 emails to see what percentage are spam.
It sounds like using the stratified random sampling would be a good choice for using a particular group of people. In stratified random sampling the individuals conducting the research know some things about the community that is providing date such as age, gender, ethnicity, and medical diagnosis. This is also a good option when there is a time restraint to obtain the information that is being gathered. The survey would also have to be ensured it is written in a way that the average person can clearly understand the question to get a proper answer.
The information in the table below refers to the 2008 model year product line of BMW automobiles. Identify the Individuals, variables, and data corresponding to the variables in the table below. Determine whether each variable is qualitative, continuous, or, discrete. Please refer to problems #51 and #53 on page 13 for examples.
A pharmaceutical company is testing the effectiveness of a new drug for lowering cholesterol. As part of this trial, they wish to determine whether there is a difference between the effectiveness for women and for men. Using = .05, what is the value the test statistic?

Corrections Statistical Analysis Tool (CSAT) – Prisoners is a dynamic analysis tool that provides you to see the National Prisoners Statistics (NPS) on inmates in both federal and state facilities. People can immediately produce tables of numbers and rates of national and jurisdictional statistics, from 1978 to the latest year that NPS information are accessible (Carson, & Mulako). This web tool incorporates state-level prisoner information from the 50 state department of corrections. Also, people can make custom tables of every year by the numbers of inmates in custody or under legal jurisdiction, people who are in custody of private correctional facilities, the imprisonment rate of prisoners sentenced to over 1 year, which is a felony
What further research or pilot studies need to be done, if any, before incorporating findings into practice to assure both safety and effectiveness?
Why does the sampling distribution of the mean follow a normal distribution for a large enough sample size, even though the population may not be normally distributed?
Internal consistency--The application and appropriateness of internal consistency would be viewed as reliability. Internal consistency describes the continuous results provided in any given test. It guarantees that a range of items measure the singular method giving consistent scores. The appropriateness would be to use the re-test method in which the same test is given to be able to compare whether the internal consistency has done its job (Cohen & Swerdlik, 2010). For example a test that could be given is the proficiency test which provides three different parts to the test, but if a person does not pass the test the same test is given again.

The objective of this chapter is to describe the procedures used in the analysis of the data and present the main findings. It also presents the different tests performed to help choose the appropriate model for the study. The chapter concludes by providing thorough statistical interpretation of the findings.
