Over the course of his eleven years in the navy Antwone gained a sense of self-esteem, learned how to be more vocal, addressed the anger that his early life had built up inside him, and ultimately fell in love for the first time. He then spent a few years as a security guard before writing a screenplay and publishing his book.
Application of Perspectives In this section, some theoretical perspectives that are often used in social work are going to be applied to Antwone. The perspectives that will be applied will be the strengths, systems, conflict, humanistic, and psychodynamic perspectives. After their application, the perspectives will then be used to assess and evaluate Antwone. It is through this application, assessment, and evaluation that a deeper understanding of the main character as well as the perspectives can be reached.
Strengths Perspective Overview “The strengths perspective embraces the principle that all clients possess them. Strengths can be the client’s willingness to accept help, the client’s positive attitude, their ability to overcome hardships in the past…” (Arnold, 2008, p. 1) In the strengths perspective, the strengths of a person to resist the stressor and problem areas in their lives are what the focus is on. (Hutchinson, 2016, p. 111) What this means is that it is assumed that regardless of who the person is or what they have done, they have strengths that can help them

“Human potential is tied to the notion that people have untapped, undetermined reservoirs of mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual abilities that can be expressed” (Corliss, 2006. pg. 106). Strength based frame work identifies those reservoirs. It is utilized to encourage the client to focus on the positive aspects of what they know, how they have overcome adversities in the past, and to see how they can use the resources they already possess in a way that empowers them instead of limiting them through negativity.
Social workers need to know how the strength perspective can be beneficial to adolescents. Strengths based perspective can be short term or long term, depending on what is most beneficial to the client. It is a positive perspective that can lead to open conversation especially with adolescents that are sensitive and may not want to receive treatment.
Whoosh!!! With a splash the colossal fish crashed back down into the churning dark waters. I could clearly see my small blue bait and where it's sticky sharp treble hooks had deeply imbedded in the magnificent bass's thick jaws. It was as if a submarine was attached to the end of my line. When I hooked the beast I knew immediately this was no ordinary Largemouth Bass. Every time she lept from the from the waters below I could only hope the thin hooks would hold up against her might.
Davie just retired from the military and is content with starting a new chapter of his life. He is a loyal man with nothing but good intentions. Davie grew up in Tampa Bay and knew MacDill Air Force Base was a fishing sanctuary. He and his childhood friends had plenty of memories of slaying the flats on base when they were kids. Davie had a friend named Derrick whose grandfather was in the Army. Derrick’s grandfather was able to get Derrick, Davie, and their good friend Martin on base because of his military ID. Davie made a promise to Derrick and Martin that once he retired from the military it would be just like it was when they were kids. Derrick and Martin held him to his word.

One nice day last summer my father and I decided to go fishing. We left early in the morning, crossing over Niagara River on the ferry.
It was four in the morning on the lake of Sandstone Minnesota Grindstone Lake. My Brother Gavin and I went out on the lake in a little john boat to go fishing. We had real heavy action fishing rods and reels. We do not usually use bait just Luers, But today we had decided to use both. So we drive out to the middle of the lake, It is about 230 feet deep. So we catfish rig are lines with a half pound weight and some rotting deer liver as well as brain. It smelled so bad it had made Gavin fall out of the boat. I tried and tried to get him back into the boat for a good twenty minutes or so, Not realizing that I could just use the electric anchor. So I lowered the anchor and got him to step onto it and then I raised it up.
It all started on a hot summer sitting around the dinner table, seemed like just a normal dinner that my mom made which was delicious. My dad said “ do you guys want to go fishing?” we said yes and then one of the greatest things happened. My dad told me and my brothers that we were going on a fishing trip to the greatest place for fishing I have ever heard of, Canada.
Once upon a time there was a girl named Scarlett, who was known as the world’s greatest fisher. She could catch twenty foot fish within a second of her line being out. News crews always asked her how she did and she always answered with “A good fisher never reveals their secret.” People from all over would come to see her fish but she knew the publicity would never change who she was. That night as she fell asleep she remembered she was going fishing tomorrow and could not wait. She even had dreams of what it would be like. About 5:00 that next morning she was awoken by a man banging on her door. He said really fast “Scarlett your lake has been drained” and he walked away. She knew she had to save her lake and she set of on the long trip
When all the fishing poles were loaded up and the the tack box was all organized, we piled in the little truck. The whole way there grandpa was telling me and my friend Reed all about the biggest fish he had caught in his life.
While I was at home and eating fish my mom asked if I wanted to go fishing. I said I don’t wanna go fishin. mom said to bad you're going anyway. I shall call your grandmother said mom.
One early morning, Making our way across the grass filled with dew, Walking across the narrow dock, Grandpa sips on his brew, Loading in one by one, Each wiping our damp seat, Double checking all of the gear, Out early to beat the heat, White caps whipping the side of the boat, Causing us to grip the sides of our seats tight, The beautiful sun was slowly rising in the sky,
