Pascal Porche Mrs. Clark English II-C 21 September 2016 General George Patton George S. Patton was a soldier who served in World War I and obtained the rank of general in World War II. During World War General George Patton’s forces played a key role in defeating the German counterattack in the Battle of the Bulge leading to the end of World War II in the west. George Patton was born in November 11,1885. His family originated in Virginia but moved to San Gabriel Before he was born. Patton’s Family had a long history in the military including the civil war. Early on Patton decided he wanted to continue this military tradition and eventually graduated from U.S. Military academy at west point in the year 1909. He served as a subordinate to general john j perishing the lead commander of the American forces in Mexico who were eventually un successful in his expedition in 1916 against Poncho Villa. At the time the U.S. entered the first world war in the year 1917 Patton who had experience with pershing accompanied him to Europe where he was assigned officer to the new U.S. tank corps. This experience gave him not only a reputation but also new knowledge and leasip skills he mostly gained strategic knowledge of tank warfare. George Patton was one of the most significant generals in world war two his contributions in the war played a great role to the victory in the west. If it wasn’t for the momentous battles he commanded, then the war would have lasted even longer maybe ending in the Nazis conquering the west. General George Patton rose the ranks and fought in both World Wars making him an experienced General. Patton committed his life to his country and proved he loved it when he strived to preserve freedom from those who would wish to take
