While watching the 5th episode of season 1 “The Bond of Matrimony”, I found Lucrezia Borgia very interesting. In this particular episode, Lucrezia was extremely torn between fulfilling her dream to become a nun, or to follow the Holy Father’s orders to follow through with an arranged marriage to Giovanni. She states multiple times that she is going to the Pope about her dream, but when it comes time for the wedding, she remains silent and marries Giovanni. Lucrezia seemed to be extremely ambitious for her age, and desired to be happy. Unfortunately Lucrezia was constrained, because she is so used to living in the shadows of her brothers and father.
