I have always thought that I have been culturally diverse being the fact that I lived so close to the giant melting pot that is Denver Colorado. At the time you may think that you are jumping into a diverse world every time you go out to each dinner. Italian food gives you a peek at Italy, Chinese food gives you a picture in the life of a chinese citizen. The truth is that you don’t actually know diverse the world is until you immerse yourself into other countries and cities.

I would like to consider my cultural heritage as diverse, but this is far from reality. Over the years as I matured through my teenage years, I was exposed to different cultures by life experiences and travel. I struggled to create both a personal and cultural identity while trying to adjust to my sight loss and with the support of my family I traveled overseas to experience other cultures for the first time. My family opened up their home to a foreign exchange program in turn allowing me the opportunity to travel over to Europe at the age of 16 years old. This opportunity started the slow progression of experiences that would open my mind to others who are unlike myself, especially traveling to a strange place and feeling different in
I wouldn’t have ever guessed from watching Doctor Who! [is that me projecting?]) With London, people really wouldn’t go about associating it as a diverse city; some might even presume England as a bland country made up of White, White British, and White Irish and so on. In actuality 20.9 percent of Londoners are of Asian and mixed-Asian descent, 15.6 percent are of Black and mixed-Black descent, and more than 300 languages are spoken. The theme of racial ties that goes against the notion of uniformity comes into play when Neena, Alsana and Clara are eating lunch in the park and sharing Indian dishes and then are politely intruded upon by the sorta park security guard, I think that part really exuded the diversity going on in a really subtle way.
Among the green rolling hills of Northern Ireland, lies a dark past, scarred by the violence, injustice, cruelty of war. For more than four centuries, Northern Ireland was abused by the British, which in turn unfolded a brutal sectarian civil war. Violence between Catholics and Protestants ravaged the country throughout the conflict, but the most brutal were concentrated between the late 1960’s and the early 1990’s. However, despite the centuries of bloodshed and struggle, forging peace was possible. The process was not easy and was frequently interrupted; yet peace was still achievable.
