Criss jami said “When i look at a person ,i see a person -not a rank , not class , not a title http://likesuccess.com/topics/16684/human-equality . he does not see what is on the outside. he sees what is on the inside. What is on the inside is better because when you look at someone they can be the best looking person in the world but they have the worst attitude and they care about no one but their self. Society should not be able to put a label on someone or put them in groups based on their skills.
Society should not be equal because we are all different even if they did put use in groups based on are similarities there still would be some difference. In the story ”Harrison Bergeron” the main characters has a son and he is different and they want him to be equal so they lock him up and but all these device on him to make him just like everyone else. “. He is a genius and an athlete, is under-handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous.” “ Harrison Bergeron single the ones that look or talk different or dance better “She must have been extraordinarily beautiful, because the mask she wore was hideous. And it was easy to see that she was the strongest and most graceful of all the dancers, for her handicap bags were as big as those worn by two-hundred pound men”.They want everyone to be the same so they make the special people handicap so they won't be different.
If you we were all the same it would be boring because we would feel the same sound the
Don Miguel Ruiz once said, “Let’s stop believing that our differences make us superior or inferior to one another” and that statement couldn’t be truer. For quite some time our society uses stereotype in order to rank a person position of importance. For example, someone who is pretty with over a thousand Instagram followers with no actual goals is seemingly more important than someone who is average looking too busy studying for the SATs to take selfies.
Imagine the United States in 2081, where everyone is equal by handicaps. Do you think handicaps can make a society equal? In the story “Harrison Bergeron”, it is 2081 and everyone is finally equal because of the handicapper general. These handicaps are able to prevent people from doing what they are good at so they can be average like others. I believe the society in Harrison Bergeron is not equal due to the fact that some people in the story still have advantages, even with handicaps.
The society is not equal because no can truly be changed on the inside, no matter how you may try to change them on the outside. Also if society were truly equal everyone would have handicaps and their handicaps would be the same, there would not just be a certain amount of people with handicaps, everyone would have them because equality is being the same and if only a certain amount of people had handicaps that would not be equal. Everyone has different qualities and different strengths and weakness's and if people were meant to be equal to each other, people would be, however everyone is different and unique. In conclusion no matter what anyone ever does or tries to do to society, no one will ever be truly equal to one another because the only way that would be possible, is if people were made that way but people were not, so no one is or ever will be truly
Finally, people in the story, Harrison Bergeron, does not have equal rights. For instance, Diana Moon Glampers punishes the people who doesn’t follow the law, even though Diana is a citizen of United States. This back ups my point by how if everyone was truly equal, they would have equal rights, that means Diana would not be in charge of everyone and violate other people’s rights. People may argue with me by saying Diana is suppose to make sure that no one breaks the law, I say that it would help support my claim by how it means that everybody isn’t really equal. This clarifies that everybody is not really equal, even if there is there is a law that says everyone is equal. Thus meaning, that the law doesn’t really indicate everyone is really equal by how the government needs to force a handicap on people that are above average to balance everything out.
In the short story “Harrison Bergeron”, the government creates an oppressed society by making everybody equal. Set in 2081, the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments are added to the Constitution to create true equality. The strong are required to wear weights, the intelligent are required to wear radios that emit painful noises, and the beautiful are required to wear masks. This shows that the government is trying to create physical and mental equality by handicapping the gifted to the level of the average. This creates an oppressed society because instead of improving
A perfect society where everyone is equal due to a variety of handicaps, but is everyone truly equal? In ‘harrison Bergeron” anyone who had any abilities whatsoever are forced to wear different handicaps depending on their ability except for the one person called the handicapper general, who does have power and is in charge of keeping the peace. If anyone disobeyes the law that forces them to wear handicaps, would be put in jail or even killed if they threatened the government's authority. Harrison Bergeron is a 14 year old boy who was put in jail because he had extraordinary abilities and he was suspected of plotting to overthrow the government.
Everyone in Harrison Bergeron was definitely equal, and not in a good way. A lot of people wish to have equality, but not to this extent. In Harrison Bergeron, everyone was literally and painfully equal. There was no diversity in people in Harrison Bergeron; everyone was completely the same. If I lived in this universe, I would be unbelievably depressed. Although they are completely equal, they do not have tensions between different groups and organizations, and that is a problem in today’s society. No one is created equally, but the officials in the book made equality no problem.
People are like snowflakes: each one is different. Every individual has their own qualities that distinguish them from others. Anthem by Ayn Rand features a collectivist community where citizens are obligated to suppress individuality and conform to a homogeneous way of life. This society in which Equality 7-2521 lives in regards the best in him as sinful because they do not think people should be unique in any way. In a similar way, the society in “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut tries to promote uniformity both physically and mentally by forcing their citizens to wear handicaps. Both authors show examples of how extreme equality can be detrimental to a society.
Kurt Vonnegut’s brilliant story, “Harrison Bergeron,” takes place in the year 2081. Thanks to the 211th, 212th, and 213th amendments “Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else”(Vonnegut 1). Everyone seems to have equal looks and abilities but to make this happen; they have to limit people so they can be equal to other people. People with natural beauty, gifted intelligence, or high strength have to use handicaps so they can be average like anyone else. They give people mental radios, masks, and sashweights so no one will get jealous. Because of these visible handicaps, people can tell who is stronger, prettier, and smarter. In the story, they describe one of the
A perfect utopian living in a dystopia with 213 amendments making every single person equal and sees everyone without a handicap as an enormous threat to society, is this the true meaning to equality or is this a cruel punishment only for keeping people in check. "Harrison Bergeron a futuristic short story by Kurt Vonnegut jr," in the year 2081 a family with many handicaps living a dystopic future with one very special child named Harrison Bergeron who has no over whelming weakness and is perfect in all aspects of life ,as he turned 14 several h-g members broke through the door and secured a hostile l life for Harrison as they take him away from any life he had for trying to make the world a dream world, a utopian world and started to oppose the government. In this paragraph I will be talking how Harrison is the one true hero we need and should be admired for his actions, This is because he is fearless and is a role model Encouraging other people to rebel against the governments vile rules
Throughout the short story, Harrison Bergeron, written by Kurt Vonnegut, Vonnegut tries to spread a general theme. In Harrison Bergeron, the audience meets several characters in a utopian society. In this utopian society, everyone is equal. If someone had an above average intelligence, they were handicapped. These handicaps were not to be taken off, but to be worn at all times. They all had to be on the same level. In the end, people try to break free, and the government did not want the society to be like this, so they killed them. Today our society is trying to equalize, but we have not been successful. The theme in the short story Harrison Bergeron is that equalizing is not always good to do in a world like we have today.
One of the themes of this book is that equality is difficult to achieve. The author tells readers that it is difficult for everyone to be equal by demonstrating that American society where everyone is equal. Mr.Bergeron is not average and so does some special people in the United States. The agents of the United States Handicapper General had to force to make them equal by putting them in the handicap. The author shows to reader Harrison protest to Vonnegut in the television show that system will be collapsed by more people who are intelligent and stronger. Failure of systems and individuals what author wanted to tell readers.
Have you ever thought what the world would be like if everybody was equal. Well in this essay you will find out why it would be a good idea. Harrison Bergeron is a book about a man named Harrison who lives in a total equal world where no one is better than anybody. Harrison has escaped prison and is now on the run where he finds himself on live television and dances with a ballerina then gets shot by the Handicapper general in front of his family. The short story Harrison Bergeron everybody was equal because everybody has the same intelligence because of the earpiece they have to wear. The Next reason that everybody is equal is that everybody that is pretty has to wear masks so nobody is uglier than anybody else. My last reason that everybody is equal is that everybody weighs the same due to weights they wear.
Everyone were not equal in the short story "Harrison Bergerson" because of their DNA difference, the stuff they have to wear. and putting different things on people and letting some people go without these handicap equipment. It's a good thing that everyone is different because if everyone were to be similar, every time someone turns around they would see themselves. Nobody would have a long conversation. Everything would be
Harrison Bergeron displays a dystopian society which feeds off absolute equality. As the disabled cannot all excell enough to reach an equilibrium with the extraordinarily intelligent, the only option is to bring all the extraordinary down to the level of the disabled. This is done by using weights to bring down strength, and earphones which distract thoughts. “Equality can degrade society” is a theme in which screams out to the readers of this text. The line which states, “Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noises to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brain.”
