“Health Consciousness

Urban Population”
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Our health is one of our most important asset and without health nothing else that we do would matter. Health consciousness is not just about watching out our weight but also being healthy by way of eating healthy foods and exercising to avoid illness and lead a joyful and stressful life.
This project tries to understand if people today are really health conscious, whether they realize the importance of health eating and exercising. Also the project focuses on which physical activities do people prefer the most, if people have knowledge of “a balanced diet regime”, and what is their daily routine of physical activity.

It is therefore important that when exercising, the effort must exceed that of one’s’ normal daily activities.
Why the decrease in physical activity?
Many people are not getting enough exercise for a variety of reasons. Not everyone knows how much exercise is enough for a start, and so they may think that they've done enough because they go for a long walk a couple of times a week. Other people have a better idea of what they should be doing to keep fit, but just cannot find the time. It is particularly difficult for those who work full-time and have other commitments, such as family, which demand much of their time. Then, there are those who simply cannot be bothered to exercise. They could probably find the time if they wanted, but they don't want to, and so they don't.
In the past, it seems that people were more active than they are today. The types of jobs that people did were different, often being more physically demanding. Plus, fewer people owned cars and so they had to either walk or cycle everywhere. Exercise was something people did without necessarily having to think about it. They just got out on their bike or walked, whereas now exercise is viewed as somewhat of an inconvenience that you have to get dressed up for and take time out of your day to do. The oldest group were much less likely than younger people to be exercising to keep fit, relieve stress/relax, keep in shape or lose weight but instead more likely to be taking part for enjoyment and social aspects or because it helps with an injury/disability
The purpose of this assignment is to increase self-awareness of the student by analyzing personal nutritional intake and activity routine throughout the course. In turn, the student will be able to help others modify their diet and activity, and improve overall wellness. An examination of a personal food and activity assessment will provide the student with essential data from which to change their health and wellness behaviors.
Health is a diverse process because it is always changing. Sometimes our health is good, other times we may acquire a sickness & we can maybe even at times have a serious illness. Our health changes as much as our lifestyle changes. In order to stay healthy, you have to have that mindset every day to remain physically and mentally fit. I believe healthy nutrition is one of the most important things to keep your body going. Healthy nutrition is basically having a healthy balanced meal throughout the day’s length. Having a meal consisting of each food group is an example of a good balanced healthy meal.
In contrast to the adults in the study, the children showed quite opposite results. According to their monitoring, they experienced more changes in their physiological variables when looking at exercise benefits than diet benefits. Although both groups were lower overall in monitoring their exercise, the percentage was higher in children, which was not seen in the monitoring of the diet. The study showed that 84.1% of adults monitored their exercise, while 85% of children did the same. Although this is not a large margin, the difference can be seen as a greater importance being placed on exercise for the children. This could be because the results showed a more significant physiological difference in the children due to exercise than in the adults. During the self-monitoring of the healthy diet, the
Fitness and nutritional habits should be more enforced in today’s society; especially in the United States. The general public as a whole is less healthy the prior days. People are not as active, make poor eating choices, are indoors more often and always on the run. This is the results to an unhealthy culture. By changing our day to day habits by incorporating healthy meal planning and exercise we can beat this growing change.
Many find it interesting how the media portrays exercising and dieting. America’s concern about obesity has shocked many organizations, programs, and citizens to take demand. Most seems to know how to take action, for example, they know to monitor calorie intake and exercise daily. However, these ideas have been slower to reinforce. The print media have a big part in this because the consumers read about the actions taken by models and they try to also reinforce those things but, it does not give the consumers the results they hope for, so there is often lost hope. Many think that because the text states that physical activity is the same as working out. Physical Activity is defined as “any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that require energy expenditure.” Exercising is defined as “physical activity that is done in order to become stronger and healthier.” Colleagues at The National Academies stated that there has been an overall decrease in physical activity during the past half century in the United States.
Health is a big area of human life and it is freedom from disease and sickness. Without health, we cannot do any work and we cannot improve in life. So, health is the primary need for every one of us to achieve.
Health is important because the healthier you are the less likely you are to have illnesses and injuries and the more likely you are to be able to help out others in your community. Health has three components to it. Health includes physical activity, healthy diet, and mental health. Unhealthy lifestyles are usually expressed through obesity. Although, you can eat healthy and not exercise, and vise versa, the maximum level of health is achieved through the combination of physical activity, healthy diet, and good mental health. Being healthy is important because it brings out the best in a person.
People are limiting the amount of physical activity and exercise they do. In the United States, people generally work forty seven hours a week sitting at desks and tables and being inactive, causing people to limit the amount of exercise they do. Even if people did want to exercise more, many areas have lacked programs that allow people to take part in physical activities. Schools throughout the world have also lacked the provision of exercise programs for students to maintain their
Health is the combination of your physical, mental/emotional, and social well being. Your personal level of health affects everything about you. It affects how you look, how you feel, even how you act. It is important to be aware that health is not a state of being. Being healthy does not mean that you will never be sick. Instead, being healthy means being the best you can be at any given time. It is important to understand health information that can be useful to you, and others.
Due to today’s increased societal demands, a person's increasingly busier schedules mixed with the convenient but non-healthy food choices to accommodate this shift in culture, American's general physical well-being is on the decline. As the populace grows older, the body needs better maintenance to enjoy a high quality of existence later in life. Unfortunately, poor habits are causing problems much earlier on that could have been avoided simply with knowledge and self-discipline. Even if it can be a more difficult path, taking responsibility for one’s own health through regular exercise and proper nutrition should be a priority of all able-bodied individuals to avoid future issues for themselves.
This is where the importance of knowing how much and what type of exercise is right for you. Exercise is meant to be pleasurable not a punishment! Listen to your inner guide and do what feels good.
According to Dr. Claudia Walther, a doctor from the Heart Centre of the University of Leipzig, “People today have different lifestyles than in the past...they’re less active…” Currently, exercise is portrayed as too hard and people have become lazy. They don't want to have to work and spend time exercising.
Exercise is one of the most important factors in a persons’ life. Physical activity, or the lack of it, can result in a person having a healthy life or cause them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise are countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic performance are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is indeed a meaningful duty we owe ourselves. ‘If you do not have good health, you do not have wealth’. Healthy lifestyle means upholding a balanced and nutritious diet as well as involves in fitness activities. A healthy diet alone however isn’t sufficient to produce a healthy body as physical activity helps to keep one in shape and free of sickness and disease.
