I believe that positive student/teacher interaction and family involvement are essential to the learning process. I believe that all students can succeed in education. It is my goal as a teacher to develop the intellect of all learners through a challenging curriculum. I hope to propose thought provoking questions that will prompt students to think and learn on their own. I will provide supervised practice to ensure the students in my classroom are learning. I believe problem-solving skills will be the most valuable skills students can learn. It is important for the class to be active in the community and active in life-changing events. Students learn best by doing. Emphasis will be placed on learning how to learn. Students will take an active role in helping decide what they learn and how they want to learn it. They will be responsible for helping to care for and maintain the learning environment, thus taking ownership of the class.
Given the right instruction in the appropriate environment, all students can learn to the peak of their natural ability. Of course there are obstacles, but it is up to educators to ensure that each student receives his or her optimal instructional program in a high quality learning environment. As a principal, it is up to me to provide teachers and staff with the training, resources and motivation to make this happen.
After reading through the Louisiana Principal 's Teaching and Learning Guidebook and the Compass Leader Rubric, I learned that setting ambitious data-given goals and providing support to teachers is important in the future success of schools. The Louisiana Guidebook was created to provide direct support to principals in a way that best supports their efforts to lead the schools ' student success. As a leader, in order to be an effective decision maker within a school, you must be able to understand student performance results along with the school performance score. After analysis of data, school leaders must identify areas of need, set goals, and take responsibility for the growth of their educators and students within his or her school. School leaders must facilitate and support staff use of data to identify and prioritize students ' needs to set goals individually. SLT 's and learning targets must be written and aligned to those goals. It is the school leader 's responsibility to monitor progress towards the goals and assure that everyone stays on target.
As an individual and an educator, in the next five years, I aspire to have been at my school and in my long term classroom for at least 3 years, have a developed and well practice filing system of observations and assessment records, a fool proof method for grading, a knack for detailed and daily lesson planning, as well as having an established parent conferencing style.
I strive to enhance academic, personal, and professional achievement for all learners. My purpose in this area is to provide students with the tools to be successful in college, not remediate K-12; hence the term developmental implies the development of the “whole student.” My philosophy of teaching is to promote positive social change by supporting the academic and personal growth of college students through instruction, counseling, advising, and tutoring. Addressing both academic and nonacademic factors will enhance personal and professional achievement for all learners which leads to increase in student success and retention. I believe access to high- quality education will promote student learning, and help students develop to their fullest potential. My philosophy is to influence those we educate with the highest levels of competence and
For example, I have been afforded the opportunity to conduct weekly intervention sessions with students who are meeting or exceeding their target grades and students who are currently working below expectations. Despite numerous difficulties in engaging low-achieving students with the subject, my determination and creativity has helped student progress from U to C grades. Reflecting on this highly rewarding experience, with such a wide variety of students, has not only provided optimal personal growth but has vastly impacted my approach to teaching. For example, classroom differentiation was imperative to ensure that the interventions stretched and challenged over-achieving students, but also enabled guidance for those who required extra support. I therefore aim to continue this practice within my teaching career to ensure every student can reach their full
As a high school senior at Laurel High School, my primary goal and aspiration is to secure a Communications Degree from Morgan State University. I have several relatives who attended this university, and I have heard tremendous things about the academic curriculum as well as life on the campus. I look forward to acquiring a tour of the alma mater where my uncle, Ervin Charles Bradley and cousin, Corlissa A. Little graduated from.
Thinking back, I vividly remember always dreaming about pursing a career in education. As I’ve gotten older, I have begun to realize why exactly this profession has excited me for so many years. First, I love learning, and I want to spread this passion and enjoyment to my students. It is my mission to show them that learning can be fun, interactive, and truly life changing. Learning is something you do your entire life, and I want to equip my students with the proper skills and resources to be successful in this journey. Second, I have always thoroughly enjoyed helping others. By taking the initiative and seeking out opportunities, I want to form relationships with each of my students, finding ways
I have taught for 18 years. I have 12 years of teaching elementary, as well as 6 years of teaching secondary math. In elementary and secondary, I have served in the capacity of Math Department Chairperson and Third Grade Lead Teacher. I have planned and developed academic schedules and intervention plans to ensure the success of students, in addition to my teacher’s responsibilities. I have collaborated with principals and colleagues to ensure that the goals and objectives were met. I have presented various workshops and trainings in the areas of math and science. I believe that education is the most important tool that a person has for success. So, therefore it is important that every child should be given the best education
Our efforts as teachers to boost learning are most effective when we share the same philosophy: The focus is all about the kids, not what works best for us, as teachers. A "student-centered mindset" is proving what’s best for each child. Our current MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) pathway provides a backbone to students' academic needs. To assure that all students have every opportunity to reach their full potential, various programs and interventions are in place to meet the unique needs of all students who attend Oakes Elementary. Therefore, it was only pertinent that I take our Title 1 program to that same level and lead our school through the process of transitioning from a
After accomplishing a doctoral degree in Educational Administration, I intend to lead as an executive leader in school district(s), shape curriculum and instructional pedagogies, teach future teachers, and to contribute to the changing landscape of educational research. I believe my experiences as a scholar, classroom teacher, and program coordinator have prepared me for the Ed.D. program at the University of Kansas. I am confident the program will enhance my readiness, appreciation, and skillset in its efforts to prepare me to be a catalyst within the profession.
As an educator, I firmly believe that all students deserve the right to learn to their highest potential. Students come to us from a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds which creates a very diverse classroom full of students. Therefore, every student is unique in his or her own respective way. Working with and learning about each student’s life is not only enjoyable, but also helps me become the best teacher I possibly can be for every student. I feel that each student’s individual learning needs should be addressed. Meeting each students needs is imperative to ensure they desire the ability to carry knowledge with them and build upon it for the rest of their lives.
I believe that every child deserves the right to a free, quality education. I believe that I need to continue to learn new ways to enhance my student’s learning by continuing to explore teaching strategies. I need to continue to build relationships and get to know my students while providing a safe environment.
Dr. Seuss once said, “Don’t give up. I believe in you all. A person’s a person no matter how small.” I believe education is a unique experience for every child who enters a classroom. Each child is unique and deserves a safe and secure classroom with a teacher full of passion for each child’s education. After classroom experience and observing many inspiring educators, I have created a personal philosophy that includes goals for my students, a method for enacting the goals, and assessing students’ goals to ensure proper development of each student. I have a desire to support each student to reach their fullest potential. I strongly believe in every student and my students will know that.
There are no shortages of rationalizations available to explain student failures. I refuse to deal in rationalizations. I believe in my ability to make a difference. It is impossible for me to separate myself from the successes and failures of my students. My students hear every day through my words and actions, “I will not let you fail.”
