How could global climate change be man-made? This has been thought over by many profound professors and they believe it is the cause of the exhumation of carbon dioxide entering the stratosphere, thus causing our climate to become hotter year after year due to the gas to be capable of trapping heat. Carbon dioxide has entered our atmosphere by the use of cars, planes, and boats that thrusts fossil fuels out the exhaust pipe to let the gas out of the vehicle so it does not enter the vehicle and put the driver in danger. But it now puts the whole environment in danger, due to the leading cause of the increase of carbon dioxide in our stratosphere. The vehicles we use pump their deadly gasses into it, and there are so many people who use …show more content…
This is likely to happen if the global economy remains dependent on fossil fuels for its energy needs. The carbon we put in the atmosphere today will determine not only the future of our climate but that of future generations as well. This effect will lead to consequences of a warming world. A leading cause of this is that nine of the warmest years on record have occurred in just the last ten years. This warming has been accompanied by the decrease in very cold days and nights and the increase in extremely hot days and warm nights. Over the last century, global average temperature has increased by more than 1°F. A warming world also has the potential to change rainfall and snow patterns, increase droughts and severe storms, reduce lake ice cover, melt glaciers, increase sea levels, and change plant and animal behavior.
Greenhouse gases that are trapping heat is the leading role of global warming. When we extract and burn fossil fuels such as coal or petroleum, we cause the release of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. This is a terrible effect because carbon dioxide can trap heat, and therefore makes it warmer. Though natural amounts of carbon dioxide have varied from 180 to 300 ppm, while today 's carbon dioxide levels are around 400 ppm. We also can tell that the additional carbon dioxide in the atmosphere comes mainly from coal and oil because the chemical composition of it contains a unique fingerprint. Greenhouse gases plays a major role in global
We might disagree on the causes of global warming; however, we cannot ignore that it is happening. Although we still experience cold winters, average global temperatures has risen drastically for the past three decades. Polar ice caps are melting; as a result, sea levels are rising. Scientist predict more extreme weather in the coming decades, in fact, droughts will probably be more common. Also, flooding and tropical temperatures might cause large amounts of methane gases to be released, which could be disastrous for our atmosphere. Climate change may have human causes and also it might be a natural occurrence. Nevertheless, we must find ways to save our planet.
First, an overwhelming scientific consensus agrees that human activity is primarily responsible for Global Climate Change. A study in 2010 showed that 97-98% of researchers agree that human activity is the primary cause for climate change around the world. This study also found that the expertise of researchers unconvinced was “substantially below” the researchers that were. The 2013 Cook review showed that out of the 11.944 studies, less than 1% completely rejected the possibility of humans causing this. A different review of 13, 950 studies of climate change found only 24 that rejected humans causing climate change. Let’s just go with majority rules. A different study held by Bray and Von Storch, two German scientists, showed that 83.5% of scientists studying climate believe that humans are causing the recent amounts of climate change. Also, a study in 2011 showed that 84% of scientists studying earth, space, the atmosphere, oceans and hydrology believe that human caused climate change is
In the world today, global warming and climate change are one of the main issues with the earth. This issue affects everyone and everything in this world, and even though it seems to be a big problem, most people do not seem to care. The most familiar term is global warming and climate change, but greenhouse gases is one of the main causes and is never mentioned. Greenhouse gases are gases that absorb and emit radiation in the atmosphere, hence makes the earth warmer. The importance of this knowledge of greenhouse gases is so the world will know one of the main causes of global warming and climate change and possibly some
The burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil, and deforestation over the last 200 years has caused the concentrations of heat-trapping "greenhouse gases" to increase significantly in our atmosphere. These gases prevent heat from escaping to space. Greenhouse gases are necessary in our lives as they help in keeping the planet 's surface warmer than it would otherwise be. But, as the concentrations of these gases continue to increase in the atmosphere, the Earth 's temperature is climbing above past levels (USEPA, 2014).
Greenhouse gases keep heat close to the earth’s surface making it liveable for humans and animals. However, global warming is happening largely due to an over-emittance of these gases and fossil fuels (natural oil, gasoline, coal)
Most climate scientists agree with the idea that the main cause of the current global warming trend is human expansion of the "greenhouse effect", warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space. Over the last century, the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). This happens because the coal or oil burning process combines carbon with oxygen in the air to make CO2. To a lesser extent, the clearing of land for agriculture, industry, and other human activities has increased concentrations of greenhouse
Climate change is not something we think about everyday and can be a complex and confusing topic to research or understand. Many of us do not understand the daily implications of climate or what the future climate may look like. Regardless, most people have strong opinions on the climate change topic and many are adamant about their decisions. All across the world, people wonder, is global warming a threat to our lives as we know them? Is the majority of it caused by humans? While some sources say that 97 percent of climate change scientists agree, other sources say it’s more like 40 percent. That is a very large difference in statistics that ranges from almost 100 percent to well under 50.(percent quote) There is still a large amount of controversy
Do you think climate change is happening because of human activity? The definition of climate change is a change in global or regional climate patterns. Climate change is happening because of human activity. I think that climate change activity is happening because, the greenhouse gases that humans are producing are making sea levels go up, natural changes in the sun's activity cannot explain global warming, and ocean temperatures are going up at an unbelievable rate due to global warming. My thesis is that climate change is happening because of the greenhouse gases that humans are producing.
Greenhouse gases ,such as carbon dioxide, is absorb and emits heat into the earths atmosphere, keeping the Earth warm enough to support life. However, human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, are adding large amounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Earth must get rid of energy at the same rate it receives energy. More greenhouse gases means that more heat is being held in the atmosphere, which makes the temperatures higher. All the greenhouse gases people have added to the
One of the main reasons that earth’s temperatures are rising are due to greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are created when humans burn fossil fuels such as coals, natural gases, and oils to produce heat or electricity. These gases are then capable of trapping infrared radiation sent by the sun. Once these
Carbon dioxide is the greenhouse gas naturally found in the atmosphere. Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution in the 1700s, humans have devised many inventions that burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gases, which, along with other human activities such as clearing land for agriculture or urban settlements, help some of these greenhouse gases accumulate in the atmosphere that in turn trap more heat radiation in the atmosphere causing the Earth’s climate to become warmer than it would naturally (Mastrandrea). This unnatural phenomenon is termed global warming by scientists and they blame it for an increase in the Earth’s surface temperature of about 0.6°C (about 1°F) over the last 100 years (Mastrandrea).
The earth’s climate is predicted to change because human activities are altering the chemical composition of the atmosphere through the buildup of greenhouse gases –– primarily carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. The heat-trapping property of these gases is undisputed. Although uncertainty exists about exactly how earth’’s climate responds to these gases, global temperatures are rising. Go to the Emissions section for much more on greenhouse gases.
Global climate change is real, it has noticeable effects on the environment. Climate change in the earth is caused by numerous activities. When climate change happens; temperatures can rise tremendously. Rapid warming notice nowadays is uncommon in the history of our planet. The rising temperatures will have great effects on the plant’s climate patterns and on all living things. When temperatures increase, different adjustments can occur on earth. For example, it can cause droughts, floods, air pollution, as well as extreme heat waves. Oceans are also experiencing changes: oceans are warming and becoming more acidic, glaciers are melting, and sea levels are rising. As these adjustments will occur in the future, it will cause challenges to our society and environment.
The issue of global warming should be on the list of our top priorities. Studies show that the average of global temperatures have risen since the Industrial Revolution began. Since the Industrial Revolution, human emissions has quadrupled the frequency of certain heat extremes and many scientists have warned that a failure to bring greenhouse gases under control could eventually lead to a 62-fold increase in extreme heat blasts (Gillis Justin A17). Most of the increase is due to human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities contribute to a build-up in carbon dioxide and other gases in Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth’s atmosphere is made of gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen. These gases act as a blanket that covers and gives us warmth, but once these gases such as carbon dioxide absorbs heat, but does not release it back into space in which causes the increase in global temperature. This is called the greenhouse effect because it only traps heat but does not release it.
Greenhouse gases are compounds in the atmosphere that can trap and hold extra heat, which increases the temperature in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases is the cause of the greenhouse effect that leads up to global warming. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun’s warmth in the lower atmosphere that is due to the visible radiation from the sun. The solar radiation reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, then the rest of the sun's energy is absorbed by the oceans and lands which result in the heating of the Earth. After that the heat from the Earth goes towards space, some of the heat is trapped in the atmosphere by greenhouses gases which make the Earth warm enough to tolerate living life. The burning of fossil fuels and land clearing start to increase the number of greenhouse gases which travels into the atmosphere. The result of trapping extra heat cause the Earth’s temperature to rise. Scientist's has proven that the constant increase of heat in the atmosphere is caused by humans. The reason humans are proven guilty for the increase of global warming is because of the amount of carbon that is put into the atmosphere. Carbon is released from burning coal, oil, and gas or cutting down and burning forests. Carbon (CO2) is known as the main source of heat-trapping gas which is mainly responsible for the increase of warming over the years. The removal of trees is another cause of global
