War, by its very nature has always been a catalyst for change. World war two, being no exception, is perhaps the most drastic example of how war can affect an entire nation. Specifically in regards to politics and government, World war two affected America in an extremely profound way. The war triggered a plethora of different changes within the United State’s government, including: Causing a permanent demographic change from groups who had been previously discriminated against, promoting growth of big business, shifting the power dynamics in the United States Government as well as on the international level, and by shifting the United States approach to foreign policy from isolationism to interventionism.
The first major change that World War 2 caused was permanently changing voting demographics within the United States and giving more political power to groups who had been discriminated against in the past.
During world war two, woman were given many opportunities that they hadn’t had before. In order to survive during wartime in an efficient manner the federal government was forced to take control of the United States in drastic ways. A few examples how they exercised this control would be the use of japanese internment camps; the office of censorship restricting the content of radio, newspaper, and mail; the fixing of prices; increased federal regulation; and the forced conscription of millions of Americans.(Higgs) While most of these practices ended with the war, some powers remained. Furthermore, the positive public view of the World war 2 offered unprecedented ideological support for a large federal
World War II brought several changes to the world and specifically America. It not only changed the world map but also set impact on the behaviours. WWII played a major role in building turning points during different periods. Before WWII, African Americans were not offered equal rights in the community. It was considered an impossible thing that African could ever do a white collar or even a blue collar job. However, soon after the WWII, there came a turning point in the lives of African American with the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
After the end of World War II, the United States went through many changes. Most of the changes were for the better, but some had an adverse effect on certain population centers. Many programs, agencies and policies were created to transform American society and government.
World War 2 didn't just only affect the US, but it affected the whole world. However, even though the whole world was affected, the US was really the only country to prosper from the horrific event. Many positive changes had occurred during the time after the war. The most important postive aspects were that the US economy didn't go into debt due to the war, like other countries; also the US power on the world and its military grew and developed. Another postive changed was that many acts were passed in the US because of what happened during the war, also the United States grew relationships with other countries, The US then ended up creating a group called the United Nations, which was a peaceful way to settle conflicts amognst countries.
In the article “World War II 's end marked a changing America” many things are discussed on how world war two has impacted united states. It gives many reasons how world war two has impacted citizens. It was the end of fascism and the end of the holocaust. The U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Japan to end the war. Over sixteen million americans served in the war. These citizens affected the civil rights and women working. It also affected where and how people live their lives. The civil rights movement began to play a big role after world war two. First sit-ins began in 1942 to show that blacks deserved better. The world war two sparked many different things after it ended. By 1945 many women joined groups to serve in war. The women came into war because there was a shortage of the amount of men that were fighting. After world war two Eleanor Roosevelt worked hard to make it where women could fight.
World War II helped influence the identity of the United States by bringing out the military power and having other countries, the Axis powers, recognizing it as a World power; this was a major threat to the Nazis, Mussolini's Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan. Positive effects was that declaring war for the US brought the US out of the Great Depression, the war created new jobs for the Unemployed. A negative impact was the war itself; the war caused millions deaths for American GIs.

When the United States launches itself into a war, whether it be willingly or unwillingly, it almost guarantees that the war will bring some amount of change to the American society. The United States has been historically very flexible in adapting to the needs that wars, as well as other major events, bring to American society. Whether it be with the economy, foreign affairs, etc. there is usually always a change that results in the United States from a war. For example, after the Civil War, Americans saw great changes in how the government chose to run itself in order to avoid another domestic war. However, out of all the wars that the United States has involved itself with, I believe that World War II saw the most amount of dramatic change to the American society. Although there were many changes in the American society following this war, there were 3 main areas that saw the most dramatic change: gender roles, race relations, and the United States economy.
Some of the effects of the Great War that changed history and impacted 20th century are the decline of empires, the beginning of America’s ascent in global power, and the rise of class angst and politics.
World war two was a time of great sorrow and a time of unity. But the question people always have is what happened after the war. Did things go back to the way they were before the war or did things change completely. Well, for the US many things changed after the war came to an end. Some of the most noticeable changes were that more women worked, A increase the number of consumer goods and lastly we were out of the depression.
Do you really think that World War II or particularly any war has made a difference in our life’s as political, economic, or socially? The treaty of Versailles, the rise of Hitler to power, and the Annexation of Austria were some main causes of what initiated this war in which created impact within the people and the state. The cold war, the great depression, and the changing roles for women were impacts that the war caused more conflicts in their lives. This
The mobilization effort of the government in World War II eclipsed even that of World War I. With major operations in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, American industries literally fueled two wars simultaneously. The social and economic consequences were profound. The Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to the industrial North was accelerated. New opportunities opened for women. Americans finally enjoyed a standard of living higher than the pre-Depression years.
It made an enormous amount of changes in the world more than any other historical event in the century. World War II also had its circumstances, which included Hitler’s plan to get Germany’s power back, Japan’s desire to influence Asia, and many others. “Though this war resolved problems from World War I and symbolizes the end of the Great Depression, it also led to the Cold War (and thereby division of korea, Germany, local wars in Vietnam and others).” (Widodo, Meutia. “How World War II changed the world…”). After World War ended, the European economy collapsed, which was a sign of the end of European imperialism. Another outcome from the war was that technology advanced excessively and women rights were changed in the workforce. One of the most vicious episodes of World War II, that no one will ever forget, is the
War has always been a catalyst for change, whether that means in terms of politics, economy, or even individual lives. Throughout the course of wars that occurred within America, or been associated with America, change has been brought or was a major recurring effect. It can be even said that war is essentially fought for change or development. The Second World War was no exception, having an overwhelming impact on the United States during the time. The war affected all phases of American life, even though no battles occurred on mainland America. It required groundbreaking efforts to coordinate strategy and tactics with other members of the Grand Alliance and then to plunge into battle against the Axis powers—Germany, Italy, and Japan. At
A new war began in September 1, 1939 as depression took over the world, World War II. It was the worst war in the American history. New opportunities were available for the American women. Opportunities emerged giving women the privilege to show what they were capable of. In addition, the economy rose drastically. There was a growth in economy for the production of war material. The president ended segregation giving many different races great new benefits. Also, the United States became a world power. The atomic bomb changed the way the United States was looked at by other nations.
Many changes have occurred in the world today as a result of World War II. Many of those changes include economic growth and failure in various countries, improved or strained international relations between countries, and probably most importantly, vast technological advances in several countries. Many of the differences between post-World War II and pre-World War II are not immediately visible to the untrained observer, especially in the area of technological advances. It is safe to say, however, that the world would not be what it is today had World War II not brought about the vast changes that it did.
