General George Smith Patton {Good} Old Blood and Guts
The great General George Smith Patton said that “A good solution applied with vigor now is better than a perfect solution applied ten minutes later.” Patton was a great leader and an even better strategist; although, he was a ruthless man who had a love for war and death. While General George Patton’s childhood developed his strategic thinking and cunning leadership, his narcissistic self-promotion led us to victory in World War II.
George Smith Patton always had a lifelong interest in the military and war. Patton was born on the 11th of November 1885 in San Gabriel, California. George Smith Patton Jr. was one of the most aggressive generals the allies had during WWII. As a German official said, “Patton was the smartest and most skillful general during WWII.” Patton was known as “Old Blood and Guts” throughout the end of WWII. If all of this is true then, what kind of an impact did he have on the war?
In 1942, The soviets advised the Canadian navy to attack the Germans. However, the allies where not prepared for an attack. The allies wanted to see how their new equipment worked and gather more knowledge. The leaders of the allies decided to send the 2nd Canadian infantry division to raid Dieppe. Dieppe was a harbour near the English Channel. This operation was a fail from the beginning. The allies plan was to surprise the men but on there way to the Dieppe they came across a group of German ships. The planning of this attack was poorly constructed and when the men where about 10 minutes from shore the Germans troops could have fired shots. The allied tanks could not move anywhere because the where barriers that blocked them off. Eventually,
Patton was born on November 11, 1885 in san gabriel california. Ever since he was a child he had a dream of becoming an american hero just like his ancestors once were. He Attended the virginia military institute for only a year before moving onto west point and graduating on june 11, 1909. After his graduation he was commissioned as Second lieutenant.[7] Patton started his military career before World War One in an expedition to mexico where he conducted cavalry patrols along the border. His superior saw his potential and promoted him to captain just in time before he was sent off to World War One. Now tanks were not widely used until the onset of World War Two, but Patton saw how devastating they could be in battle and joined the first United States Tank Corps.[5] Taking full control of the outfit, Patton celebrated after their first victory in cambrai, France against the central powers. Patton served the
Clinton Gardner predicted in high school that he would more than likely be drafted into the war, which made him feel it would be better to join the war since drafted soldiers had gotten a different serial number. Once he was put into a military school, he went to Fort Devens where he
Omar Bradley a general doing World War II said, "We know more about war than about peace. We know more about killing than about living. This is our 20th Century's claim to progress. Knowledge of science outstrips capacity for control. We have too many men of science, too few men of God. The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. We are a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants." When Antichrist first steps onto the world stage, he will be hailed as a man of peace. But, after he is given the reigns of power, he displays his true colors. After men allow him a place of prominence and power, he will demand absolute power. When this happens, many of the powerful countries of this world will rebel and the world
Nazi Germany invaded and conquered large swathes of Europe. Their success is due to how the Germans used highly mechanized warfare on an unprecedented scale that technologically, couldn't have been done before. They used a new and devastating type of warfare called the Blitzkrieg which owes its success to technological advances at the time. The Blitzkrieg involved massive air support followed up by quick moving vehicles such as tanks and trucks that delivered German soldiers into enemy territory. This tactic was very efficient. The Nazis had most of Europe in their grip and was now targeting Britain, a major superpower of Europe. If Britain falls the consequences would be dire and the task of stopping the Nazis would be much more difficult.
When it comes to investing, formal education does not determine how successful someone will become. Moreover, education plays a minute role in deciphering the success of an investment. In fact, the only necessity required during investing includes skill and audacity. When an investor combines those two things, they become almost unstoppable. However, everyone should not partake in high-risk investments. This remains attributed to the fact that so many people lose money rather than gain it. With that being said, George Soros remains a profound investor. Not only does he know how to invest, he also knows how to break records along the way.
The Armistice of October 1918 may have ended the fighting between the Ottoman Empire and their allies, however it did not bring establishment or peace to the region. Syria, Palestine, and Iraq were all controlled by the British. The British, French, and Greek forces also kept close to march across the Bulgarian border and take over the surrounding areas, including Constantinople. Although the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, feared he would be removed from office by the Allies, they realized he was an important figure and anticipated that his retention would influence post-war stability.
Patton and Montgomery were nearly uncontrollable and self-aggrandizing. But both were brilliant in the field. Eisenhower had to find a way to win their cooperation in spite of the fact that neither would be allowed to run the overall operation as they wanted. Patton was given an almost insulting yet critical role of being the diversion that kept Hitler’s eyes off the western beaches. (Later, he would be given control of US ground troops, a role he coveted almost as much as Montgomery’s role.) Montgomery’s constant, vocal advocation of a “spear-thrust” through France to Berlin had to be sidelined in order to prevent the Allies from making the same mistake in Europe that Hitler was making in Russia, i.e. extending the troops too far away from their support troops and supply lines. Managing these egos was a monumental task, and there weren’t many who could manage it as adeptly as Eisenhower did.
Patton got his first tastes of action in pursuit of Mexico's legendary Pancho Villa in 1916 with the U.S. Cavalry. He was later transferred to the new Armored branch as the first U.S. Commander of Armor. During World War I, Patton was struck by machine gun fire and was seriously wounded, narrowly escaping a possible death. (1). After being wounded, Patton stayed in the armed forces and continued to head the Armored division during the time of peace. Soon enough Patton's expertise and services would be requested once again in a mere twenty years.
