Many like Amnesty International and Oxfam provide much needed support and assistance to individuals and groups internationally. One such internationally recognized NGO is the International Alliance for Women. Can the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law Help Lead a Path for Immigrants to Become Active Citizens?

The Human Right Campaign is a group that many are familiar with. This group is commonly associated with their logo, which openly shows their goals and ideals. They work for many things other than this, but their fight for equality is the most commonly talked about. Many of us have probably heard about the HRC through our spam file on our email account. You also may have heard of them through their numerous fights for equality and same sex rights. The Human Right Campaign is a group involved in many things all for a very amazing cause. They work hard for the things they do and achieve their desired results with the help of the community and their sponsors.

Recently, I have been exposed to a new organization called the Nonhuman Rights Project. Their goal is to transform the status of nonhuman animals from “things,” to “legal persons” by giving them essential rights. I am responding to the article “New York Judge Denies Request to Extend Legal Rights to 2 Chimps” by Jesse McKinley, in an effort for my voice to be heard.

Amnesty International is an international non-government organization that actively tries to expose and prevent human rights abuses. Their mission statement is to “unite people from all over the world to fight for human rights using our signature tactics: Research, Action, and Advocacy. (n.d. 2016)” The organization started in 1961, and has “demanded action on over 44,000 cases of human rights abuses” as of December 14, 2011 (Amnesty International Australia 0:40). The country has 3 million supporters in 150 different countries. In 2011, one of their major focuses was on releasing prisoners of conscience, who were individuals that jailed after non-violently expressing their beliefs.

Instead, human traffickers supply both children and adults to these regions from other places to meet the demand. Kabance mentions that these criminal organizations are multi national that have an effective influence on both border control and internal security units. States in that region such as Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam could cooperate to eradicate human trafficking because these criminal organizations are too powerful that one state's power would not enough to deal with them. In light of our recent lectures, I found it fitting to speak about the situation that is currently taking place in Myanmar. The Myanmar government is being accused of extremely hostile actions against the Rohingya people in their country. This includes the burning of villages, rape, and murder. Many of the Rohingya have fled the country in search of asylum. This news story specifically addresses how Amnesty International, a human rights organization, has released evidence of the government’s actions and how, as expected, the Myanmar government is denying every accusation.

The Human rights campaign is an interest group which in fact deals with human rights. This group has expanded over the years and has a huge influence on the world today. The human rights campaign has had a lot of success in and out of the white house. Some issues that the HRC deals with are gay rights, transgender equality and hate crimes. The HRC are very dynamic and cater to a lot of needs.

Human rights is a very important issue for amnesty international. Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. Global inequalities are the things that society identifies as not equal and unfair. There are many inequalities in Kenya including income, life expectancy, education, water, gender and poverty inequalities. Although these are negative problems, opportunities in Kenya have shown improvement as people are starting to make a difference by sending more people to school and giving children education they need and also food and water for people to survive. Amnesty International and Unicef are all apart of the world trying to make a difference. Amnesty International is the world’s largest and most-respected human rights organisation.
