Good morning Ms. Crawford: Before I begin, I would first like to thank you again for your inquiry and interest in the I-75 Express Lanes Project. As previously discussed, your concerns were forwarded to my project team for review. Please be advised, the I-75 Express Lanes Project currently implements a number of procedures to ensure motorist safety during construction. The Department's contractors are responsible for providing work zone acceleration and deceleration lanes to allow construction vehicles to safely enter and exit work areas. These work zones access areas are constructed to meet the Department’s guidelines. To ensure safety within the construction zone, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has hired additional Florida …show more content…
The motorist should also document the incident as detailed as possible, including taking pictures of the damage(s), and contact the I-75 Express Lanes Project Public Information Officer (PIO). The I-75 Express Lanes Project PIO will record the incident for tracking purposes and send the motorist a damage claims form to be filled out and returned. Once the claims form is returned, the PIO will contact the appropriate prime contractor and forward the claim for investigation. Please note, because prime contractors are required to indemnify the State of Florida, any and all damage claims are considered third party claims between the vehicle owner and the respective contractor. Prime contractors have their own insurance carriers and risk managers who investigate the claim and respond directly back to the party making the …show more content…
Though left lane closures are implemented along the corridor, Florida does not have a Statue mandating left lane restrictions of any kind (i.e. truck/18 wheeler lane restrictions) at this time. These types of restrictions can be requested and are evaluated on a case by case basis. Also, each restriction requires an Engineering Study to include closeness of interchanges, percentage of truck traffic, etc., in order to determine if the restriction will or will not be implemented. Additionally, establishing truck lane restrictions in a construction zone is not ideal and would be difficult to enforce. With that being said, please be advised that commercial trucks, such as 18 wheelers and dump trucks, will not be permitted to travel/utilize the I-75 Express Lanes upon its
One possible solution to Austin’s traffic problem is to expand the busy roadways where most traffic congestion is found. Widening these roads would help alleviate traffic issues near the downtown area of Austin as well as other busy and
There has always been a demand for roads in the United States as roads are essential in the development of a nation. The national interstate highway system was America’s solution for the need of a road system that would stretch from coast to coast. The United States Interstate Highway System is a landmark project and often considered one of the greatest public works projects in American history by making travel by automobile faster, cheaper, safer and more convenient. New roads have been a necessity on our country ever since Henry Ford began to produce the automobile back in in 1903.
Also, according to the same article, at some points when concrete is being poured, citizens who are living on Main Street may not be able to access their homes. This will cause an inconvenience, as most people work during the day, and when they come home from work, they may not be able to access their homes. Next, also according to the article “South Main Street Reconstruction Still in Planning Stages” By Matt Gardner (www.hngnews.com), the planned detour as of right now is from Interstate 94 to Highway 26, to Highway 18. Another option would be to go from Main Street to Madison Street, then heading out Lake Street and to Highway Q. People who lives on Highway Q, Family's are concerned this road will become overly crowded, which will lead to traffic jams and accidents. In addition, there will be no way around Pinnacle Drive and Topel Street. I spoke with Tara Topel, one of the owners of Topel’s Towing and Repair, and asked her some questions. First, I asked, “Do you think that your business will be affected by the Main Street construction project?” Topel replied by saying, “Yes, it most definitely. `We are actually planning on relocating temporarily during the construction.” Next, I asked “Are you worried”, Ms. Topel replied,
Twin Falls Highway District has a 50-foot-wide roadway easement along all section lines within Township 14 South, Range 60 East, Section 19, Boise Meridian. Structures shall be prohibited within the roadway
If you are speeding in a construction zone, your fine will be doubled! If it says “construction workers present” and you do not see them, it is NOT okay to speed. The workers are probably there, but not in sight. You will still get a ticket if speeding in this zone!!
On Monday, October 10, the contractor for the I-75 Express Lanes Project will begin painting the sound barrier walls along the east side of I-75 between NW 170 Street and Florida’s Turnpike. Please note, in order to complete this work efficiently, tree limbs hanging on or near the sound barrier walls will be trimmed. Residents wanting to trim their tree limbs themselves must do so before the scheduled date mentioned above.
Representatives of the I-75 Express Lanes Project construction team responded to 17360 NW 91 Court to make contact with resident in regards to the resident’s chain link gated fence installed along the FDOT right-of-way. Gerdy St. Louis (GS) made contact with resident Ivett Lopez (IL) and advised that she and Sixto Labiste (SL) were there from the I-75 Express Lanes project regarding the gated fence in the rear of her property. .
Because the intersection and number of lanes was so big, I decided to focus on the two-lane outgoing section on Traverse Ridge Road from the remaining three directions. I was surprised to find out
The project heads in a northeast direction beginning at the intersection with County Highway M (station 1+00) and ending at the designated end of project (station 78+69.31). A new horizontal and vertical alignment were designed based on a design speed of 55 mph and a superelevation rate of 6%. The calculated minimum radius for each of the three curves designed was 1065 feet. The new design for the roadway meets the maximum grade restriction of 5% for a rural arterial. The stopping sight distance requirements calculated
Construction of the new direct connect bridge over Florida’s Turnpike continues. Bridge work occurred last night along I-75 between NW 170 Street and Florida’s Turnpike and is also scheduled to continue tonight. Crews also continue to perform drainage activities and ITS work. Construction to build and pave the future Express Lanes within the existing median is also currently underway.
Please be advised that the contractor for Segment C spoke with Tony Castro, and that although this is not part of the contractor's scope of work the contractor will replace all four "DO NOT ENTER" signs along the off ramps at I-75 and Pines Blvd. Please note that installation will take two to three months.
Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida.
Make sure you get pictures showing the placement of the vehicles involved, the damage each vehicle has sustained, and any other important signs of a collision like tire marks in the road or a damaged guard rail. These photos should accompany your accident report and insurance claim. Be sure to exchange contact information and insurance information with the other driver. Do not ask for or give out a Social Security Number during this step.
As of October 9th, 2017, new express lanes have opened between I-680 San Ramon and Walnut Creek. These new lanes use to be carpool lanes allowing people of 2 or more per car to drive in them during set hours or anyone during non operating hours. These are the first express lanes of Contra Costa elected by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. This project cost about $45 million to work on and that money came from our taxes. This project may be a good thing to some drivers or a bad thing for taxpayers.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), as its name implies, is a governmental agency responsible for transportation in the state of Virginia. It was established in 1906 with the goal “to build and maintain safe, efficient, convenient systems that would bolster the economy and make travel in Virginia a rewarding and pleasant experience” (ctb. virginia.gov). Since then, the VDOT has kept its objectives as it is still not only responsible for building, maintaining, and operating the roads, bridges, and tunnels, but for conducting numerous projects and studies to determine the needs, costs and impacts of proposed highway project across the State. The agency has nine highway districts which are divided into twenty-nine residencies and two district satellite offices responsible for one to four counties each, with its headquarter
