One of the most important moves academic writers can master is the art of analysis. This assignment will help you to develop the skills necessary to determine the meaning found within a text.
This learning activity has the students looking more deeply into their chosen book using a more critical mind rather than just enjoying the book for its basic story line. It has them taking note of what is happening at each stage of the book and why these events are taking place, then taking this information they have gathered and developing a written report to convey their thoughts and ideas in the book along with developing the skills necessary to produce a piece of writing that is easy to read and understand for the reader. This activity also has a lot of hidden features to the task, such as using the correct grammar, development of sentence structure and use of creative thinking to make the piece interesting to the reader.

The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to apply some of the critical reading strategies you have evaluated.
Analyse how verbal and visual features of a text you have studied are used to give audiences a strong idea.
You will find and analyze the central idea of a work, including the use of quotes from the work to support your analysis. You will determine an author’s point of view and how their writing furthers their point of view in the work. You will organize and take part in a group discussion, including responding to the answers and point of view of the other participants.
Students are asked first to read the reading passages provided within the textbook. Then, they analyze the passage to underline, highlight, or select the most important information. This can also be through the use of paraphrasing (summarizing) each paragraph and/or applying the KWL(S) reading approach after reading. Afterwards, students will need to find ways to relate what they have learned from the text to their lives in order to connect to the readings and comprehend what they have read.
Achievement Standard English 91479: Develop an informed understanding of literature and/or language using critical texts.
By writing a literary analysis it allows readers to criticize and survey an author’s work. It lets the readers truly be appreciative and to be able to comprehend what the writings meaning is. Analyzing the poems, short-stories, and anything else the author has written, may show the readers what factors helped shape how they wrote. It could also determine the themes given, how the character’s act amongst each other, and how certain scenes are presented. Overall, a literally analysis is written to let the readers really dig into the information given throughout the author’s work.
Reader-response theory identifies the reader as an affective agent who imparts real exist-ence and life to the work, completing its meaning through interpretation. Reader- response criti-cism argues that literature should be viewed as art in which each reader creates his or her own-most likely unique, text-related performance. I am using Wolfgang Iser and Stanley Fish’s takes on Reader Response for my study.
The purpose of Text Interpretation and Analysis is a literary and linguistic commentary in which the reader explains what the text reveals under close examination.
