Interpersonal skills are what social equips an individual making them able to coexist in a work surrounding. This skill may vary but they contribute to one thing which is help an individual be more reliable and work efficient.

After reading the first couple of chapters of the textbook “Interpersonal Process in Therapy”, I was able to find a deeper sense of appreciation towards the “counseling” profession in regards to the interpersonal process approach, the working alliance (client/therapist) and the process of honoring the client’s resistance. As I found myself learning more about the importance of the therapeutic relationship with the client, it was exciting to learn the recommended questions on page 12, in regards to identifying schemas, themes (internal working models) within the client. Not only are these questions being asked to the client, but the therapist must ask themselves the same questions as well. Although I am sure there are other ways to identify problematic relational patterns during a session, I believe these set of questions are a great guide to lead in that direction along with strengthening the therapeutic relationship as well.
