Essay Is College Worth It

Once again the question stands, is college worth it? There have been many successful individuals that did not attend college, or that did not receive a college degree. Ted Turner, Ralph Lauren, Mark Zuckerberg, and Michael Dell are all examples of people who did not receive a college degree, but are worth billions. Among many others, Steve Jobs is one of my favorites to research and talk about. He did not have it easy in any way, yet he overcame many obstacles and became a very successful and well-known individual.

Achieving a college degree is worth the time and effort as well as the financial struggle because there is more to be gained besides context knowledge. College is something that has dropped in importance as less and less people attend every year. These students are unsure as to whether it is worth it.Parents push their kids towards college and some even tell them not to go because of financial problems. This pressure students to make a life changing decision. This is all things that may keep a student from a secondary education that could kick-start a new and better life.

There are many benefits to obtaining a college degree. Having a college degree is worth the expenses and two or more years put into getting it. A college degree can help with getting a well paying, enjoyable job in the future. Having a well paying, enjoyable job is important in one’s success. Which means that having a degree is important. Attending college or pursuing a higher education is worth it because a degree ensures a stable, well paying job and provides a better quality of life. In Document A, “Earning and Unemployment Rates Based on Educational Attainment, 2015” compiled by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher educational degree, such as a Doctorate or Professional degree, corresponded to a lower unemployment rate with a higher pay, while little to no educational degree corresponded to a higher unemployment rate with a lower pay. This means people who received a college degree had a better chance of finding and retaining a well-paying job because they are typically skilled in one profession that cannot easily be replaced, such as a doctor or engineer.

Many people always ask themselves if college is worth it and if it is then why. Sure there are positives and negatives of attending college, but which outcome will be better suited for you and your development. In any case, going to college is the right choice because it not only gives you a higher paying job, but also growth as a human being. The biggest plus to going to college is that it matures you into being an adult, so why skip out on an opportunity that will change your future! In the first place, college will pay off for itself once you graduate.

Many think college is not worth it, however when I think of college not being worth it, I ask myself what is “it”? Is college not worth the sacrifice, time, or stress? In this case, many are not college material, simply for lacking the amount of effort and self motivation it takes to get through college. I oppose with the statement “For many, College isn’t worth it” because college is worth everything it takes for you to become great in the field you choose to study. Many people are not able or do not have the mindset to get through college, but that do not mean they will never have the mindset. Most people do not work hard under pressure or have great skills at testing or learning at a slow or fast pace. Some people believe that after highschool, since it is required, that going straight into an occupation is better for them. In my opinion, college is a stepping stool for achieving higher education and newer knowledge for the area you decide to infiltrate. I believe the educational world is bias to the brainpower of many people and people of the world is bias to the things they are capable of doing. Therefore, I am confident in stating college is worth it because having a college background ensures you quicker job opportunities, college gives you knowledge to become disciplined and self-motivated, and; college also enhances your communication skills.

Many high school students all think the same question. Is college worth the money and time? People can be more successful with a college degree if they use it the right way. With a degree there is a higher percentage of getting a more premier job. In the long run, college is worth it because most jobs pay more for people with a degree, the amount of jobs available are more broad, and college graduates tend to live a healthier life.

College is a very important stepping stool to your future, too your life. Others might say it’s not worth the money, that plenty of people were successful without college, I disagree. Only very small hand full of people make it without a degree.

While some might not consider it worth it because of the cost and other factors, others would disagree and say that college is worth the cost and other factors. Forbes is for and against the subject according to their article, "Is College Still Worth It?" In the article, Forbes brings up the fact of the opportunity cost of college and how college is so much more than just a degree, it’s the networking, the friends, and of course the experience all together (Kaufman). Networking is extremely important; an individual could be the closest of friends with someone in college and ten years down the road get a job because they knew someone. Is College worth it? Despite the cost of tuition increasing, Students are making a smart decision investing in college for majors that need a degree and are demanded by society. College is essential for many people to advance their status and become successful as shown by statistics, students, and the economy.

Is collage education worth the expense of tuition? If you are planning to go to college and take your time and not play around in those classes then I think you should go to college but if you’re planning on not taking the classes seriously then, what is the point if going? Most of college students that graduate make an estimate of $300/weekly vs 11.3% unemployed high school students make an estimate of $652/weekly. All you mostly hear in life is go to college and get a good job so you could be a successful person.

Is College Worth It? Is college really worth it? This is a question many students start to ask as the college cost increases and jobs are harder to get. Although getting accepted into a good college is a great start, the student needs to be motivated, talented, as well as creative. If a student has those qualities, that student will be successful in the future (Rouse, Cecilia E; debater 4).

Is College Worth it? “There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.” -Unknown. This quote represents a bigger picture of success and hard work.

College can still be worth it for many people when they are deciding on their future path. College doesn’t have to be very expensive, there are many scholarships that students can apply for to help reduce the cost. Also, having a college degree will allow the person to have the option for career changes in their lifetime. Some colleges offer work co-op programs,an internship, where the person can get a degree, learn their skill, and make money. This allows them to feel more comfortable in their field, and it helps to eliminate some of their student debt. These are just a few of the reasons why college can still be very beneficial to people, and why college can still be worth it for many people.

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been questioned about your dream career, or what you want to achieve as an adult, or even now. Chances are you have, but, did you ever take the time to really think about that question and finally distinguish that you want to be an Astronaut or a Surgeon or maybe even a Scientist? Well, if you did then there’s almost no doubt that you’ll need to attend college to acquire the certain level of skills you need to become that person that you dream to be. Obtaining a college degree will almost guarantee that more and more opportunities will come knocking on your door because a college degree is a stepping stone to success and companies and businesses are very much aware of that. Success is what people are looking for and a degree verifies that you qualify to achieve great things. Oh, and did I forget to mention that that vast majority of people with a college degree make a lot more money than people with just a High School diploma or being a High School drop out for that matter. However, aside from qualifying for an immeasurable amount of career options, a College education has shown to help with communicating with others, which might not just help with job benefits, but also with relationships on another level.
