The Legalization of Marijuana
Yes, I believe it is a great idea to legalize marijuana. What a great idea! Think of all the good benefits that could come about. The government could tax marijuana like they do tobacco, and it could help our economy out. Think of all the money that could be gathered with this taxing. The prison and jail populations would decline simply because a number of people in prison are there solely because of a marijuana conviction.
This would cost tax payers a lot less money, simply because it costs about twenty-seven thousand dollars a year to keep one person in prison. That's just one person, and think of all the people in prison because of a marijuana conviction. That's more than a

It can benefit us substantially with proper selling and buying. Hey we might as well legalize marijuana, because everyone is doing it anyway. If it was legal, you wouldn't have to hide it, or worry about smoking it. People would probably still look down on you for smoking marijuana, but you could look at them and say "hey at least it's legal."
No, what an absurd idea it is to even think about legalizing this horrendous drug-marijuana.
Everyone knows that marijuana is a gateway drug and can lead to other drugs, such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, the list goes on and on. Do you really want your kids smoking marijuana and trying other drugs? I don't think so. People would become so addicted to drugs that they would spend all of their money on it and eventually have to start stealing and pawning things just to help their ridiculous addiction. The crime rate would increase. The murder rate would double because of fiends losing their minds and going on a killing spree.
If marijuana was legalized, everyone would be stupid, because you know as well as I do that potheads are the dumbest people, next to crack heads of course. Marijuana smokers have a short term memory. Who knows, your adolescent pothead could easily turn into an adult coke head or a crack head perhaps. Marijuana
The legalization of marijuana is a very debatable subject, some people think it is bad and should be illegal, and some people think it is good in some ways if used properly. It should be legal because it has few negative effects, it serves other purposes than getting people stoned, and it is better than other drugs.
Legalizing marijuana will lead to many societal benefits that will reduce illegal activity while helping the government control the use of the substance and making a profit that can be used to help taxpayers. Marijuana is not a dangerous drug and should be legalized because it does not cause harm to anyone and by legalizing marijuana the government will take control of marijuana distribution and it can benefit a lot of people in many ways. If the government controls the market for marijuana people would no longer be in danger of trying to acquire it illegally and there would be tax for selling marijuana which will benefit both the government and society. By legalizing marijuana the government can make laws about its use.
It is universally known that the legalization of marijuana comes with certain risks. But none of these risks are not already existing, legalizing marijuana would only help with regulating the usage and the sale of the substance. At the same times it would also have positive effects on the environment including the people. Of course the possible money gain to support schools, infrastructure and to fight criminals would be one of the biggest
Legalizing marijuana would mean that it would be easier for the drug to get in the hands of kids. According to CASA findings “Despite reported declines in teen marijuana use in 2007, almost eleven million teens report using marijuana. Marijuana is a major substance that is being abused among teens in America. More than five times the increase in such findings for all other substance abuse.” With marijuana becoming so popular again with teens most people believe that we should keep the drug illegal.
Growing up everyone is always told “drugs are bad for you” over and over. As children, we have no perspective and do not fully understand the use of drugs. Drugs are always around us, especially marijuana. It is the most commonly used drug in the world. As much as we are told not to use this substance or be around it, many have encountered it in some way before. Marijuana being illegal in most states does not stop people from using the substance. Since this illegal drug is still used no matter the situation why not benefit from it and legalize it throughout the United States? Marijuana could have a positive effect on America in relation to health and the economy.
Marijuana is a naturally grown plant that has beneficial properties and the ability to create textiles, paper products, and other goods. Marijuana is currently illegal in many states in the United States. The legalization of Marijuana will produce enormous tax revenue, reduce crime, give us a renewable resource, and give sick and suffering patients a new effective medicine. The legalization of Marijuana in the United States would both benefit the well-being of its citizens as well the economy.
economy. While not an entirely identical comparison, the legalization of marijuana could bear some of the same positive effects as a legalization of sports betting could. Revenues could help public schools gain funds, improve communities, and decrease the
Marijuana has many advantages and disadvantages attached to it. There will be an almost, never ending debate on whether or not marijuana should be legalized. Due to the good that it would cause; the medical benefits and the money that would come from it by taxing it, and the money we would save from trying to fight it. We could have a larger budget for more important things that are in need tat the moment, if marijuana were legalized there would have to be regulations on it, much like those of alcohol, This would make it safe for freedom of use.
Legalization of marijuana on a federal level may benefit society more than cause it harm. When people hear the word marijuana, cannabis, hemp, etc. they tend to compare it to dangerous hardcore drugs. In all reality, unlike these other hardcore drugs, marijuana has many advantages that could possibly outweigh its negatives. For example, federally legalizing marijuana could stimulate growth within an economy by allowing the government the opportunity to reduce expenses on prohibition, create jobs and collect sales tax revenue, create a healthier more organic agriculture through hemp industrialization, and offer a more natural remedy to alleviate medical symptoms.
The legalization of marijuana will bring in much needed revenue to the US economy through tax revenue, the creation of jobs, decrease in the number of those incarcerated for marijuana possession, and help treat various health conditions that would otherwise cause an enormous amount of pain. Although marijuana is often looked down upon as a Schedule I illegal drug, this medicinal plant has been around for more than a decade and has been used for more than the "get high" purpose. Marijuana is non-toxic compared to multiple types of medications now on the market and it has never caused an over dose. It is also less expensive, if legalized than most of the overly priced medications provided by
It is common knowledge that marijuana is a gateway drug, and a large percentage of users have tried or moved onto harder drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, etc. Decriminalization of this drug would create a huge dent in criminal activity. You have to look at it like a two-sided coin, you are fixing one thing, but breaking another. Marijuana much like alcohol and cigarettes will get in the hands of young children and create even more problems. Driving under the influence of alcohol is a big enough problem as it is, in reality decriminalizing marijuana is going to create a scenario with even more impaired drivers than there currently
There have been studies done that have proven that IQ’s of people 21 and older that use this drug have not been affected in the long term, even though while under the influence their IQ may drop temporarily. There have been many studies done on cannabis and they have found that the drug should not be considered a schedule I drug and that it should not be illegal but Nixon dispelled this information and kept the drug’s illegal status. In addition, it has been shown that misdemeanors have decreased and opioid use has decreased in places that marijuana is legal. It was shown in Colorado that opioid use went down by about 30%. This would mean that the overall safety of communities would be on the rise. Lastly, there are many addictive substances that are currently legal that could be compared to pot. Alcohol is legal and has the same short term effects as cannabis. Also, tobacco is the number one cause of death by an addictive substance, followed by alcohol, with marijuana in the rear. Although, this side provides many compelling arguments, the opposition has a significant number of relevant points as
If marijuana were legal, it would also bring a significant source of revenue to the United States. A lot of money currently is spent on drugs, and most of it goes to illegal operators outside of the country. If legalized, the pot revenue would go to Americans. In the current economic climate, this would definitely be welcome. A tax could also be put on the drug, and the companies that grew and possessed the plants would have to pay income taxes to the government. It is possible for marijuana to become one of the number one cash crops in though whole country. And with all the people who would smoke it, or use it in other ways, it could quickly become one of the main stimulators in our economy.
Marijuana is believe it or not, one of the safest ‘illegal’ drugs on Earth. It is safer than legal alternatives: alcohol or tobacco. According to CNN “1 in 8 Americans smoke marijuana on a regular basis.” the drug can provide medical benefits, lower social costs, and better the economy. Therefore Marijuana should be deemed legal for recreational and medicinal usage across America, because it provides medical benefits, lowers social cost, and betters the economy across the board.
Marijuana should not be legalized because it will increase health issues, its use will rise rather than decline, and taxation will result in economic failure. In recent years, however, society has become very moderate, and this is why society’s views can be swayed by the benefits of legalization. Nowadays, legalizing marijuana is not that big of a deal as it was in the 60’s and 70’s when hippies and peace organizations were advocating for marijuana use. However, if marijuana is legalized it has been said that it might be the gateway drug to legalizing all illegal drugs.
