The reason we conducted the experiment was to learn how much fertilizer to use on lawn grass, and how it affects grass. We found in the research that fertilizer helps the plant grow (with the right amount) in long amounts of time. Our hypothesis was if we change the amount of fertilizer in the grass plants soil than the amount with 1 tsp. will be the tallest and healthiest, because it will not be too much or too little but just right. To create this experiment we filled cups with soil and poked holes for the grass seeds. Then we watered the seeds and added the amount of fertilizer needed to each cup. An answer to our question is that fertilizer does affect plant growth with the right amount of time needed. In our experiment the plants without …show more content…
Another qualitative observation made was that the grass grew slanted and towards the sun. A quantitative observation we made was that the grass with 1 tsp. and 2 tsp. of fertilizer had 7 strands of grass growing in the cup. Our hypothesis was not supported, we said that the 1 tsp. would grow the tallest, when in reality the cup without any fertilizer grew the tallest most healthiest grass. We think it was because the fertilizer that we used needed a bit more time to activate, not just a week or two. One uncertainty were that in our next experiment we would have liked to have more time for the plants to grow. Another uncertainty was that we only did one of each amount of fertilizer, which could make the results less accurate. Some questions that we have wondered throughout this experience is, “what if we use the same amount of fertilizer on other types of plants?” and “I wonder if other people have done this experiment before, and what were their results?”. In our next experiment we plan to use different types of fertilizers and plants, so we can see how they are affected as well. Society can benefit from this experiment in many ways, one way is people learned how much fertilizer is really needed for grass, instead of just looking at
In this experiment we are testing the effect of fertilizer on the speed of plant growth. We prepared a 4 quad cell, 1 control group and 3 experimental groups. So, we had one with no fertilizer, one with three seeds of fertilizer, one with six seeds of fertilizer, and lastly, one with nine seeds of fertilizer. The plants that we grew were called Wisconsin Fast Plants, members of the crucifer family. These plants are small and easy to grow, but for optimal growth they require continuous fertilizer, water, fluorescent light, and temperature between 18 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius 24 hours a day. Fertilizers are substances that are put into soils to increase the growth of the plant. There are two different types of fertilizers, synthetic
The novel Motorcycles and Sweet Grass by Drew Hayden Taylor, is an award winning native comedy. Taylor includes many themes and symbols that enhance and accompany those themes. There are many different themes and symbols that Taylor has incorporated into his novel. Some include crows, raccoons, sweetgrass and John’s motorcycle. In the novel, symbols are a big part of story line development and help enhance themes. The symbols that I will use are the raccoons, the crow and John’s last names. These symbols relate to and enhance primarily mythology.
'Splendour in the Grass' is a yearly Australian music celebration. In 2001, 'Splendour in the Grass' begun as an one day occasion held at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay, NSW and soon advanced into a three day occasion. It is currently thought to be one the country's biggest winter celebrations and draws in countless that go from everywhere throughout the nation. 'Splendour in the Grass' moved to Woodford, QLD after the NSW court denied coordinators consent to utilize a bigger site at Byron Bay, NSW. 'The Moreton Bay Regional Council and State Government have arranged a two-year manage 'Splendour in the Grass', which will be extended to three days.' (Kellett, C 2009). Alongside the move to the new grounds, coordinators presented a third night of music at the occasion.
The results obtained are non-conclusive. More research is necessary in order to fully understand the effects of Nitrogen in the development of Fast Plants seeds and the soil. It is recommended that original is repeated. However, only one fertilizer should be added per quad, rather than mixing the fertilizer used for the control with the fertilizer being studied. For future studies it is also recommended to maintain a record of the pH of the soils before, during, and after the experiment in order to understand the impact of fertilizers on the
Drew Hayden Taylor’s Motorcycles and Sweetgrass is praised as the funniest piece of Native Literature in Canada, a stark comparison to many of the other pieces of Native literature which are often dark and filled with sadness. However, Taylor’s Motorcycles and Sweetgrass cannot be considered dark or filled with sadness as it follows the arrival of the Native trickster Nanabush to the Reserve of Otter Lake bringing with him a fresh new take on Native life in Canada through a light, almost comedic lens. It isn’t all jokes and humour, though. As the novel follows John/Nanabush and his mission to bring back Native culture in the sleepy reserve of Otter Lake. This can be seen by the change in Virgil and his new excitement in school. The passion
1. Did your bacterial lawns contain only one species of bacteria on each plate, based on lawn appearance? If not, why do you think that is?
In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several wars and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the events that led to the grass fight. What motivated the men to “jump” into the fight practically without any orders and the reason for their victory? As well, we will discuss what key intelligence gaps were over looked from the part of the Mexican Garrison, for example, allowing for a Texan observation post to be located in the area. Not being aware of the moral of the men, resulting in desertion and intelligence likes. Finally the lack of use of scouting units in order to better control the Garrison area. In addition, we will discuss some possible biases that Gen. Martin Perfecto de Cos could have had towards the All-Volunteer Texan Army. Furthermore, I will propose an alternate outcome to the battle
This is showing that Loyal is realizing that the Japanese people rights are being stripped from them, and he is beginning to regret supporting the decision to put them into camps. Furthermore the text states,” Dad told our boys to walk from the camp in a group. They weren’t to be alone, because somebody could treat them like prey”,(p.237). Indeed this is showing that Loyal cares and is looking after the Japanese, not just because they are his workers, but because are humans who don’t deserve the punishment that is being handed to them. In Tallgrass Loyal changes from biased to open-minded.

As PLE has ramped up their production and heightened their insights into internal business analytics through a larger sample size, it is evident through the represented data in North America that the satisfaction of dealers has improved over the last 5 years. Similarly, with the increases in high satisfactory ratings a similar escalation of less agreeable results is illuminated through the data. Though a trend of an advantageous broadening of the ratio of highly satisfied “5’s” vs less satisfied scorings exists, it is important to for PLE to realize the dissatisfied submissions still exist, but the company- through this data- is on a positive track in relation to dealer satisfaction.
While at this phase Lawn Care firm would be involved in designing the product for the customerto product development activities, also it is the phase in which Lawn Care would get the inputs such as goods and raw materials from suppliers and this is also the stage were the firm would
The life form of E. elymoides is considered graminoid, which it is a plant with narrow leaves that grow out from a base (Simonin 2001). E. elymoides has a height growth between 10 and 45 cm tall where hollow stems, culms, protrude out from the base of the grass. The leaf blade thickness is anywhere from flat to curved ranging from 1 to 6 mm; whereas the complete flower head, or inflorescence of the grass, is a spike ranging from 2 to 17 cm long not counting the bristle-like structures at the end of the leaf. The internodes on each inflorescence structure are between 2 to 10 mm with branching on each side of the stem. The bristle-like structures that grow out from the leaves are anywhere from 2 to 10 cm long, and often become purple as the plant matures (USDA 2006). To get a better idea of what E. elymoides looks like, the image below gives you an idea of what the bristle-like structures look like as well as the size and appearance of the inflorescence. Furthermore, the awns (bristle-like structures) help protect the plant from getting eaten by grazing animals because they puncture flesh around the mouth which causes irritation and could potentially cause eye or ear injury (Simonin 2001).
No significant effect of sub-site location was found (F = 0.367, DFd = 9, DFn = 3, P = 0.999). Hence, the larval abundance data collected from the breeding habitats associated with each grass species was pooled in subsequent analysis. An. arabiensis was the most abundant species comprising more than 40 % of the specimens in the study area, and was the only member of the An. gambiae sensu lato complex to be identified following PCR analyses of 48 mosquito larvae.
