TIn the healthcare industry we have three main forms of leadership traits. These leadership traits really seem to map out the organization policies, culture and overall structure. It is very important to have effective leaders on top that can relate and enforce structure and culture. According to Joshi, Ransom, Nash, & Ransom, 2014, the organizational culture typically is directly impacted by who is leading the organization. A CIO and CEO have similar merit to bring team together. In this organizational structure each play important role in bringing the vision to whole organization with logicl goals in mind.
The healthcare industry is very competive industry which requires well rounded leaders to effectively improve their organization. The CIO must have effective decision-making skills. The ability tot think out of the box logical choices. Starting with problem solving requires step-by-step approach of identifying the problem or concern, next is properly developing the proper channels to address the concern and lastly implementing the changes or adjustments accurately.

In the case of CIO whom was appointed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to implement the healthcare.gov website; the CIO was offered limited authority to truly impact the healthcare.gov technoligcal failures. I believe a CIO must be able to maneuver within organizational struture to make required changes. A CIO must be adaptaive and prescaive to get buy-in with their ideas at all levels becayse the healthcare industry has an overwhelming amount of bureaucracy. Nurse Manager Alicia Hubbard, RN, MSN, NE-BC, is the Nurse Manager at Texas Health Plano, Neurology/Telemetry unit. She started her nursing career in 2003 as a LPN. She achieved her BSN and MSN from Arkansas State University.
