In today’s society, people generally tend to only appreciate the things that we see through the media. We see the lives of celebrities and things that are “in” and popular to society and we tend to idealize and glorify such subjects. People also gravitate towards having special interests in subjects that are “common” or that others have interests in as well, but there are plenty of historic subjects that have simply been forgotten over time and aren’t generally an interest to many people anymore, and one of these historic subjects is art. The fascinating thing about art is that it has been around since the first ages of human life. Art goes way back into the very first generations of the world, leading back to over 40 thousand years ago, and ever since then, art has evolved and emerged to shape each past society. There have been plenty of artists who are responsible for such captivating artwork, but out of all the artists that we know of, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo are two of the most famous of all time. …show more content…

He was considered an “illegitimate” son since he was born out of wedlock, and was raised by his father, Messer Piero Fruosino di Antonio da Vinci, with the help of his stepmothers since his biological mother, Caterina, was a peasant. Right after he was born, his father married a lady with a rich family and Leonardo was sent to live with his grandparents. When he was growing up, “he was very smart and was very quick at arithmetic and music” (Biography), and was also very skilled at singing. Before he reached the age of twenty, he had been taught skills such as carpentry, metalwork, leather arts, sculpting and drawing for six years, and once he reached twenty, he had made his own workshop with the honorary entitlement of being a master artist in the Guild of Saint Luke.
