Is Trump rational with his immigration policy or is he being xenophobic? Today America and The European Union have been arguing whether or not to take in more immigrants or refugees. The problems of letting them in is often over the idea that their culture is incompatible with the ones in the west. This has also created a discussion of whether some cultures are superior to others has been talked about for a while now, culture being the beliefs and values of a set or sets of people. Our class has also discussed the actions of other cultures and our own, like our over consumption of resources. Some people argue that some cultures are not better than others because all cultures are shaped by their past so you can not criticize the cultures of …show more content…
I think they are responsible for their choice to take part in barbaric practices like suicide during Brussels and Baghdad. They chose to do this as well as shape their culture this way, we had bad ideas that existed for long periods of time but at some point somebody had always stood up said that it was enough and made a change. To say the middle east is incapable or responsible for their actions is insulting and unfair to them. If you think they need more time that is absurd because they were more than well developed during the 20th century and today there are counties in the middle east that have made an actual change, like Tunisia and Israel, why can the others not. Tunisia is a country that became secular in the span of five years with Libya next to it. How much is enough is the question, how much help do they need The European Union is on the verge of collapse from how many refugees they have taken and when we try to get refugees we keep getting economic migrants taking advantage of the situation. The culture of the west holds individualism, secularism and democracy at its forefront and have been trying relentlessly to help to the point of which we may
Because my neighbor is considered suburban it often gets a bad rep. A lot of people think that suburbs are boring and aren't interesting. As this suggests, the problem is also cultural. For the most part, American culture and opinion are still created, even in the Internet age, in cities at either edge of the continent. If intellectuals do deign to look at the suburbs they assume that so much banality must be hiding something deeply
Although there are many similarities and differences between American and Somali cultures, parental expectations is one common thing they share. There is one principle that every parent holds so high, that has had a significant impact on their children’s lives, and that is the essential to attend an undeniably prestigious university. American and Somali parents want that their child to be an accountable person. Also, they both want to see that their child is making wise decisions throughout his/her life. Like every other parent, they want to witness that one day there will be a successful person. However, Somali parents have higher expectations than Americans. My parents are a perfect example of this, they have passed on to me an enormous amount
Culture is a very vital part of the world as we know it today. There are very many different cultures all around the world. In the USA, we have a mix of all the different cultures and and family values. From the original Native Americans that inhabited America to the Middle Eastern people in Afghanistan. These people groups have brought their language, food, values, and customs with them.
Arab Americans are defined primarily of their religious identity and they reside in all 50 states. The first generation of immigrants from the Middle East dates back to late 1800s. The majority of immigrants’ population came from Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. Religion plays an important role in the Arab society and most of their way of life is not necessary because of their religion. Like many other immigrants, the reason these immigrants migrated to the United States was to escape the religious persecution, an opportunity to build a better life. Majority of how Arabs interact and the way their culture is has to do with the Koran and it is one of the foundations of Islamic law. In the Arab American culture, family is an important aspect and everyone plays their respective role. Fathers are the head of the households and are expected to provide for his wife and children. The women has restrictive education and they help support the family by caring for the house. Kids take on a role are taught by their parents depending on their gender. Boys are most likely to follow the footsteps of the father to prepare to care for his own family one day. The girls learn the basics of running a household. It is common for the children to live with their parents until they marry or live with them to care for them as they age and can no longer care for themselves. The Arab culture also value respecting the elders and they are often the decision makers in the family. The family
individualistic. American culture is virtually the opposite of The Middle East. as long as religion
The Middle East is a very culturally different place than the United States. So I have interviewed a friend of mine who is from the Middle East and asked them some things from their daily lives and culture in the Middle East. I asked them some information about themselves, some important things in their culture are, and how they communicate with each other.
cultures and their behavior styles; in order for the culture to accept any type of assistance medical, financial, and education and assist in breaking barriers for counseling with this culture. Arab is one of the well-known culture around the world with a strong connection with Islam. They believe in one God (Allah) and Muhammad is his prophet. In addition, they also believe in Jewish and Christian tradition. Furthermore Arabs are not all Muslim, not are all Muslims Arab. Fewer 20% of Muslims worldwide are Arabs (Hasnain, Shaikh, & Shanawani 2008). There are 22 countries that Arabs are currently living in United States that share common terms of religion, language, and culture; however they vary politically, socially, and economically,
It is noted that every Middle Eastern Country are publicly fascinated of the Dabke dance. Each of the Middle Eastern nation claims they are the best at dancing Dabke. They also claim to have to have invented the dance (Hussein, 2016). However, there is the truth and reality behind the dance. Dabke is also referred to as Dabka or even Dabkeh. It is those names that the Middle Eastern people refer to the actual dance that is normally used by different dialect. The dance is universal irrespective of someone’s roots and cultural background. Whether one comes from Iraq, Lebanon, or even Palestine, the dance is still the same. The term Dabka basically means the act of stomping (Haugbolle, 2010). The dance found its inception back in the early 1990s before the segmentation of the Middle East took place. The Middle East was segmented through the colonization process. The colonies were either the French or the British. The Middle East was a single peaceful land that had a common Dabke art. The Dabke art was widely used in celebrations, joyful events, at the weddings, at the graduation, and also in birthdays. Therefore, Dabke was well known to be a tradition that was shared. Meaning the tradition was not owned by anybody and it originated in the Middle East intended for everyone to celebrate.
Trump is one that is completely against illegal immigration. Trumps biggest oppositions against illegal immigrants, is that he is determined to send them back were they came from even if it means separating them from their families. The Republican nominee has called for a crackdown on illegal immigrants, saying they “compete directly against vulnerable American workers” (Trump). He promises to cut back legal immigration with new controls he says would “boost wages and ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.” Trumps actions seem to be more of class rather than what’s right for our country. In one of his statements he states that he will ensure jobs for Americans which goes against numerous researches done that those immigrants don’t affect our jobs, we would just rather not do the jobs immigrants have. Instead of attacking the immigrants with records and a threat to our country, Trump would rather take the easy way out and just deport them
Donald Trump’s position on Immigration Reform is unique, one of his major policy changes is to make a wall at the southern border and make Mexico pay for it. Other major points as well is “Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans”(Trump). These first two policies are not very reasonable, assuming that Mexico will pay for a very costly wall at the southern border is concerning. Also, when he says that all immigration plans must improve life for all Americans is unreasonable. There will always be situations where a plan does not improve life for all Americans, but that does not mean the immigration plan should be stopped. On the flip side Donald Trump brings up some strong points like returning illegal immigrants who have committed crimes back to their home country. This policy is a good one, because if someone who is illegally staying here is also committing crimes and just making life harder here in the U.S. they should be deported. Overall the majority of his policies seemed weak and unrealistic. He had a couple good points, but not enough to have a strong immigration reform.
Donald Trump’s Immigration policy is his worst idea since he decided to run for president. Trump thinks every illegal immigrant is either a rapists or a murderer. He even wants to change the Constitution. Donald Trump’s immigration policy includes building a wall spanning the length of the southern border, tightly enforce and changing laws regarding immigration, and deporting all illegal aliens.
Donald Trump’s views on illegal immigration were very different from Hillary Clinton’s to say the least. Trump wants to detain and deport immigrants immediately who are caught crossing the border illegally. Along with the detaining and deporting he wants to inforce, he also wants to end birthright citizenship which means if a child of an illegal immigrant is born in the states he or she will not be granted a United States citizenship. Trump wants to defund sanctuary cities where police officers protect illegal immigrants by not contacting the immigration officials about the undocumented immigrants they come in contact with. He has the determination to build a wall on the Mexico-U.S. border to keep immigrants from crossing into the United States. According to www.businessinsider.com, Mexico will pay for the wall which would cost between five billion and ten billion dollars. Even with the possible building of the wall to keep immigrants out of the states, Trump wants to triple the amount of the Immigration and Enforcement officers from five thousand to fifteen thousand. He also wants these specific officers to collaborate with local police officers on gang raids that target the undocumented individuals who could possibly be involved with gangs. Looking back at his previous campaign proposals toward immigration, it has easily been noticed that Trump has gone “soft” when talking about deportation of the illegal immigrants. When it comes to muslim immigrants, Trump wants to issue a complete shutdown so they cannot enter. According to www.businessinsider.com there is reasoning behind Trump calling the shutdown of muslim immigrants, “Follwoing the San Bernardino shootings, shifted to a temporary ban applied to immigrants with “a proven history of terroris,” then linked Syrian refugees to
