Introduction The aim of this project is to take the handheld Marine GPS unit and produce a new design that is more efficient and easier to use. The idea is to design a product that not only is a GPS unit, but can also be used to alter the helm settings such as course to steer and turning auto pilot on or off. This will allow you to change the heading of the boat without being stood at the helm. The new product will increase safety of passengers and will benefit both pleasure and competitive boatmen. The project will have an emphasis on the management of the design of the product Project Objectives: 1. Gather and Analyse existing products-find forms of analysis that will help identify successful aspects of existing products. 2. Write up Product Design specification- will help in the design section as will contain aspects of the product that must be included in the design. 3. Design a product-Draw up initial concept designs and analyse them to find one that will be most successful. 4. Plan production of Product-Identify stages that need to be involved in product production and draw up a Gantt chart for the production.
