Music Is My Dream Essay

I now realise that the Arts, including music, creates opportunities to engage, inspire and enrich our lives. Music making and responding can challenge, provoke responses and enrich our knowledge and understanding of ourselves, our communities and the world.

When I was in fifth grade, I was caught between two worlds, playing a woodwind or string instrument. If I played a woodwind instrument I would have to blow in it to make music, but string instruments are played with a bow to make music. After much thought, I decided that the violin was the best instrument for me, because it has a beautiful, unique sound, plus the possibilities are never-ending. I could receive a compliment from a teacher, or even get accepted to the symphony.

I came to realize that playing music can bring someone great fortune. I had no plans for the future, no goals, nor dreams before I starting my path in music. I never wondered without direction. But one day, good fortune came to me. A fortune I would have never of thought of. It was The Gracias choir and music. I was thinking to myself “I have never been so happy nor have I had so much enjoyment to live. To have an open mind to people around the world by delivering my heart threw my music. It looks like a dream!"

In addition, it was the little moments during performances that nurtured my desire to become a professional musician. The endeavor of singing on stage while hesitant and shaky, and the joy after finishing. Sitting in an ensemble with my alto saxophone, and playing with fellow musicians who shared my love for music, finding that perfect harmony. Experiencing a sense of freedom as I strummed and picked my heart away on stage with my guitar.

Music has been a part of my life since the beginning. My Grandma Hammond, a music teacher, had me start right off into piano when I turned 7 years old. She has been my music teacher since then. I was taught all genres of music starting from classical to what is popular now. My favorite genres to learn were Jazz and Rock music pieces. I remember when I was the age of 12, I begged her to let me learn and play the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen for one of my music festivals. My Grandma disagreed at once about my idea because it was required of the piano students to play a classical piano piece. The Musical Composition that has changed my life to how I see music is the song The Stroke from Billy Squier. I did not really know the meaning of the song, but it really Widened my Horizon in terms of music from only before listening to The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Monkeys. As my strength in music has grown I have learned the significance of emboldment through different relationships. My parents helped me never lose passion for music, my teacher pushed me to learn pieces that I never believed I could do, and my friends who taught me the importance of good-natured competition. Over the years music has molded me into a person that puts importance on dedication and is willing to take chances. The music community has not only taught me valuable lessons of encouragement and integrity, but has opened my eyes to the fact that it brings passionate people together to create meaningful social experiences that will change lives. Ever since I was a toddler, music has always interested me. From requesting to listen to the jazz station on the car radio while driving, to picking up the saxophone for the first time at ten years old. I became engulfed in music. I started out taking lessons at twelve years old on bass guitar and was taught theory simultaneously within these lessons from my instructor. At age sixteen, I began playing guitar and singing.

Throughout my several arduous years of middle school, I never thought music would grow to mean as much as it does to me today. I was no concertmaster, no section leader, never the best at the instruments I played, and never imagined I could attain these titles. After a slump and a loss of passion, something sparked inside of me and I made it my goal to become the best at what I could do.

I feel as though music is like hope, romance and inspiration. For many years, music has inspired many people like The Temptations, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and even Beyoncé, allowing them to turn their lives around. As they were inspired by music, they went on to inspire an abundance of people. That is my ultimate goal behind getting a degree in this field, to show that you can in fact channel your emotion and make something beautiful out of them that will continue to enlighten generation after

Musical instruments have played many major roles in helping with the construction of many societies around the world today. Many people do not realize what musical instruments have been responsible for and how they have helped shape the world today. There have been many instruments that have helped create and sculpt the world, but one instrument that I want to inform readers about is the trumpet and where it came from, as well as how it has changed over many years. The point that I am arguing is the fact that many people do not know where the trumpet has come from and how it has affected society.

I come for a strong African American background family, where we have family get together, cookouts and just being close to your family. Most of the R&B songs tell a story. They talk about the black culture in good and also in bad ways. The R&B music I find myself listen to is more from my parent’s time. The music back during my parent’s child hood is a lot different than music today. One Major different is music back then had people playing the real instruments and sounds. I hear lectures from people from my parents’ generation how music today is terrible compared to their upcoming music. I personally feel music just changes because it adapts to people’s lifestyle and what they are going through. The Music Industry have always been dominant in society. If you think about every generation can remember listen to their favorite song growing up, and music can sometimes tell you all about yourself.

Music, it's a part of everyone's life. From childhood sing-a-long songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere.
