Porter’s five forces can be interpreted as a tool that not only shapes the industry as a whole, but also determines the industry’s areas of strength and weakness. This model can serve as a guideline that establishes a company’s current situation or position within the market as it relates to five key aspects. The five aspects or forces allocate the competitive influence or power as it relates to business. Porter’s five forces include: threat of new entrants, customer power, supplier power, competition and substitutions. In relevance to My Career City: • Suppliers: The success of My Career City relies on the universities that provide the company with the information regarding the student applicants, in order for them to register those applicants into the company’s web database. They also need government agencies to approve and supply/provide them with those databases in order for startup companies to be able to enter the market. • …show more content…

This is again, due to the amount of and variety of consumers it is accustomed to and providing services for. This essentially indicates that if they were to lose one customer this would not be a considerable or major loss to the organization because each of their targets are specific and individual rather than collective which holds more risks • Competition: As stated in the text, My Career City has a number of competitors, both direct as well as indirect. For instance, although Angel list is continuously evolving and growing, it is not seen or interpreted as direct competition. The company free lancer is also an example of an indirect competitor with My Career City; however they are a direct competitor with E-lance which is also competing directly with My Career City.
