My Goals and Walden Vision and Mission Essay

As a young child, I was always drawn towards the field of health care. I remember reading about the many options that are held within it and wondering what path it would lead me on. Neonatal nursing was something that always came into my mind, but it was often pushed to the side by people and teachers who thought I should become a pediatrician instead. This became a real struggle for me, but as I grew up and began researching and exploring the health care field I came to a decision for myself. I came to the realization that everyone was wrong. Soon after, I received my licensure and began working at The Queen's Medical Center as a Registered Nurse (RN) in early part of 1994. Since becoming a RN, I have provided care to a great deal of patients and reassured countless numbers of family members. As a RN, I've also become the coordinator of care, patient advocate, and teacher to the patients I cared for while serving as the eyes and the ears of the physicians. As with any human, I enjoyed sharing the laughter with my patient and cringed at site of their pain and despair. For these reasons, I believe that being a RN is a great career choice for me. However, for these same reasons, I still feel that I am not a complete nurse; hence I've decided to go back to school and try to earn my Bachelor in Science Degree in Nursing

1.1 – it is important for me to continually improving my knowledge, and ensure that I am aware of, and follow, the current health & social care standards, legislation, and guidelines for good practice. Learning new skills and refreshing training enables me to progress, and achieve within my career and working practices.

I want to become a Nurse educator to help shape the next generation of nurses through my efforts in creating quality educational experiences. Nurse educators are not valued enough for the amount of work they do but are an essential part of the educational system as they provide rising nurses with the knowledge that is essential in order to ultimately help save a person’s life. My goals as a Pediatric nurse is to obtain as much experience as I can through the hospital setting in order to teach as a Nurse Educator in Pediatrics through personal experience and to teach students to learn from any of my mistakes in my hopes for them to

Since I have been a young girl, I have dreamed of dedicating my life to aid others in health and wellness. Nursing, however has not always been my leading career choice. Career options such as a pediatrician, oncologist, anesthesiologist, etc. have been considered in my pursuit of finding the proper career path, but through all the consideration I have never lost my true passion of helping others. Through careful examination of these various careers, I discovered that I wanted to pursue a career that was more personal and hands-on. I have chosen to pursue a career as a pediatric oncology nurse. Although this career with be both physically and emotionally demanding, I feel that I have made the best choice to become a nurse and devote my life in the pursuit of restoring health and wellness in children battling detrimental diseases.

In today’s healthcare system, nursing is a challenging field as a result of rapid technological advances and changes in healthcare policies. As a dedicated nursing professional, with a great passion for learning, I strive to stay on top of these changes. My nursing carrier stared off at the bottom of the ladder, from care associate, to Licensed practical nurse, to associate in nursing, and now I have bachelor in the nursing. She recently accomplished the completion of a Master of Science Degree in Nursing- Family Nurse Practitioner Track at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. She would like to continue with a commitment to her educational goals by pursuing the Emergency Focus Concentration. Christy has worked in this fast paced, exciting, but challenging area of specialty for the past nineteen years. She has demonstrated her dedication to Emergency Nursing through nursing leadership, committees, and professional organizations in her community. Christy’s faithfulness to furthering her nursing career goes deeper than any job she has held over the past 18 years. I decided to become a nurse in high school after exploring the many different opportunities within the medical field. I started my freshman year in high school and continued to take a course every year to expand my knowledge about taking care of others. I have always enjoyed being able to help others and put their needs above mine. I have experienced many opportunities of hands-on experience through job shadowing, my CNA rotations, and through my internship at Palmetto Health Baptist. After participating in the internship at Columbia Women’s Healthcare at Palmetto Health Baptist, I decided that I wanted to specialize in Labor & Delivery as a nurse.
