My Social Location Essay

My social location would depend on the things I listed above. My ethnicity, race, education, gender, job, and income

Currently, people within our society are predominantly divided by the groups they identify with or with how they are identified by others. These identities are defined by our social location. Social location includes our gender, race, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, and religion (Hutchison, 2011). In this paper, I will take a close look at my social location and attempt to describe how it affects my way of living and my professional life.

My social location a 43-year-old Latino man, born and raised in a Pentecostal family in Puerto Rico (United States of America Territory or kind of Colony). The first and oldest child of Puertorrican mother and immigrant catholic Mexican father. Even though I am the "second” of 6 children of my father and a younger sister from my mother side. In between of this complexity and my Christian leaders’ family, my opinion on family decisions is important, my advice in different matters and I am valued for the oldest I am. My social position as middle class defines my life as a Spanish-Latino educated and experienced in United States. One’s environment has a huge impact on the person’s morals and upbringing. The culture that surrounds individuals allows and leads these individuals to join a specific social status or class. A person’s goals and aspirations can be attributed to the individuals that person surrounds themselves with. Culture and ethnic diversity leads one to have different religious, linguistic, and social background. The human race is so diverse and interesting due to the ethnical diversity that surrounds us. Different regions in the United States acquire different mindsets, food preferences, and everyday lifestyles.

One changes from place to place to create the persona one would like others to see. Think about how the attitude changes as a person enters a bar; there tends to be a more loose attitude toward everyone in the vicinity.

Every individual has a unique and distinct personality that allows them to experience the world in their own way. However, despite our differences, people often share similar episodes with other members of society, which would imply that the social or physical environment around us has a powerful effect on the perceptions humans create. With this in mind, it is important to understand that the awareness of our environment is often dictated by biases comparable to an author writing his own story. My social location has been changed in the past year because of my translation to high school to college. I am nineteen years old, I am from Spanish decent and I am middle class. The translation to college was having many more opportunities to do what I want and having time for it.

There are many places in this world that one can be born at. It’s something that you can’t control or choose. The world is huge and the chances of you being born in one of them, well it’s very big , but the exact place you being born, the chances are small and being brought up in a specific place in the world can alter and impact your life forever. There’s a reason that nature vs. nurture is always a huge debate and seems to be never clearly determined which one impacts a person more. That being said, where a person grows up is a huge factor in the person they eventually will become. Which is why I will be discussing where I grew up, and basing off of the three sociological theories, I will discuss the cultural, social and economic characteristics of the place I grew up and how it has made me, me.

There are a variety of social factors, which make up a person’s social location, that exert an effect on every person’s development as an individual. Social location can be defined as the spaces that people occupy due to their location in society (Henslin, 4). The three factors that have contributed the most to my social location are my social class, race, and education. These among many other things have had a significant impact on the way that I view the society that we live in today.

Does your neighborhood define who you are? Do you Think where you grow up at defines who you are as a person. My opinion is that if you grow up in a bad neighborhood your going to make bad dissension later in life. If you grow up in a small town or the country you has a less chance of doing bad things because there's not much to do in these places. Not everybody is affected by their surroundings.

Everyone's surroundings have an effect on them, whether it's physical, emotionally, or even socially. Every small detail in our environment forms and defines who we are, making it one of the most important things to think about when someone is planning to be who they want to be, not what they are forced to be.

My surroundings influences me based on what I hear, see and the effect it leads to. My view against Trumps immigration
