My Views On Christian Worldview

In summary, Christian worldview belief illustrated that there is hope for humanity. God created the universe and all who live in the world. God loved humanity that his plan was to restore the relationship with God for all believers. Through Jesus God can have a relationship with humanity and the holy spirit is the one that transform us to build our character like Jesus. We have to be a blessing not only to our family but to others so they can have the same opportunity as I had. This is the will of God and that was all of creation purpose to do the will of God not our own because we fall short in Gods glory.

There are many different ways to completely define the term “Worldview”. To actually have a worldview it means that you have built a particular opinion of life. The opinions that have been created will help in the development of ideas or decisions as well as how the world around you is perceived. No two people will have the same worldview, most people live their lives. (Open Bible, 2015)

What is a worldview? To have a world view means that you have created a personal opinion of life. Those opinions you have created, help you make decisions as well as help you learn how to portray the world around you. As to be expected, one man’s worldview will not be the same as yours but it is always good to share your views with other people to hopefully open their eyes to your perception on certain topics. Finally it’s also good to listen to other people’s views to expand your own personal knowledge on the Christian world view.

Every human being has a worldview whether they are aware of it or not. Although the notion of a worldview might appear basic in nature, the word itself simply meaning how one views the world around them, worldviews are much more complex and far reaching. A worldview is the way a person views and interprets the world around them. Life experiences and spiritual influences play a part in forming one’s worldview. A person’s worldview helps them to determine beliefs on creation, humanity, morals and what happens after death. According to Waddell, (2014) “Worldviews are also like lenses found in eyeglasses that serve as the means through which a person sees the world.” (para. 43) In this paper, the main components of the Christian worldview will be discussed, to include God, humanity, Jesus, restoration and analysis of Christian Faith as well as a reflection of my own beliefs.

My personal Christian worldview is full of heavy doses of God, and plenty of drizzles of the Bible, and it was born from a combination of how I was raised, my life experiences, and my assumptions. This worldview is heavily involved as I bring up my children to love God, and do my best to be a good wife to my husband. Most of all, this combination has filled my heart and soul with the conclusion that God is my all!

Worldviews vary from person to person and faith to faith, resulting in everyone seeing the world through their own assumptions and beliefs. Out of the many worldviews discussed in the text, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity, and in class three stood out to me for comparison. These three worldviews consist of Naturalism, Pantheism and Polytheism. Worldviews, although not always correct, are how people see the world and reflect on our expectations about life. Differences can be seen in beliefs such as if they believe in a spiritual world, a material world, or both. Worldview’s purposes are to explain the purpose of man and the world. All three worldviews attribute the problems in the world to different aspects based on their beliefs and have diverse notions of how to resolve the world problems. Although a few similarities can be found among these world views, there are multiple differences found.

Chapter one discusses what a worldview is and more specifically a Christian worldview. A Christian worldview involves believing in God and that he created the universe which has laws. It also includes finding the ultimate truth in the Bible. God has written his truth in the Bible for us to read about. Not only does the Bible tell us truth, it also shows us what ethics we should have. The character of God shows the moral laws we should believing. Lastly, the Christian worldview states that God created humans in his image, but due to sin it has been temporarily ruined. Since Jesus died on the cross, though, humans can be reconciled to God again. Although, this basic break down of a Christian worldview is helpful, it does not give all the answers.

What is a world view? A worldview is an individual’s view on life. It is the philosophy with which we live. It makes us who we are and is shaped by our experiences, culture, and background (Smith, 2015). A worldview is fluid, it changes as we change and discover our identities. It is made up of the questions that humans may ask to determine their wealth to the world or their purpose in life. Our worldview can make us gravitate toward other individuals with similar beliefs. It is a unifying factor in our day to day interactions with people and the world as a whole. It is the way that we determine what is “considered meaningful, what is worth doing, and which causes may require sacrifice”

A worldview, weather religious or non-religious, has personal insight about reality and meaning, often termed a “life understanding”. We all have worldviews which is our own discernment which develops because we have sought some understanding of our own significance. The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world could be collection beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or group.

Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.

As stated by Groothuis (2011) “But Christianity, on the contrary, depicted God as a rational, responsive, dependable, and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus having a rational, lawful, stable structure, awaiting human comprehension” ( p. 102). All that is in the universe, except for God Himself, is God’s creation. Therefore, my Christian worldview begins with the existence of a God who is the personal and creator of everything we survey. Knowing that God is the cause for creation, brings perspective to my life. It establishes the place of a great being that took time, out of time and space to create the world in which I exist. A world meticulously designed to work as one connected string. How can a world be fine-tuned with irreducible complexity, without a designer?
