Personal Mission Statement: NAEYC
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” These are words spoken by Nelson Mandela that I strongly agree with.

When you’re being educated you’re exposed to multiple positive experiences. While communicating with adults and their peers, children gain social skills. When a child gains knowledge they can feel smart and this improves upon their self-esteem. Mental health is just as important as physical health. A good education facility has a way for students to work on their both physical and mental health. NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct states all of this in section I part 1.4, “To create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development …show more content…

This includes qualities such as patience, professionalism, and being kind. It should be common sense that if you do not have patience you should not be teaching young children. They are going to be difficult to handle sometimes and if you can’t roll with the punches then you shouldn’t be there at all. It is the teacher’s job to keep them safe. To keep them safe they need a calm environment. As the teacher one sets an example. If one is cool, calm, and collected it can reflect positively through the children. “Our paramount responsibility is to provide care and education in settings that are safe, healthy, nurturing, and responsive for each child.” States NAECY’s Code of Ethical Conduct. Patience is the key.

In summary I believe to be an Early Childhood Educator one has to be able to keep up with everything. There is no single purpose to educate, but if I had to choose a soul representative it would be to shape our world. Children’s needs must be met in order to do that.
