NATUREVIEW FARMS
Introduction Go big, or go home! This is a saying that is heard in all different fields. Its meaning is far more than the five words it contains. Go big, as in everything you do, do it to the best of your ability. Go home, means that you are throwing in the towel when things get tough, more or less, just giving up. My dad said those words to me when I was too afraid to get on stage at my first ballet recital, and he would say those same words to the management team at Natureview Farm after reading into their current predicament.

The natural foods channel has a unique distribution system that includes a wholesaler in a four step process; whereas, in the supermarket the distribution system only goes through a three step process. The channels may differ in distribution systems, consumer audiences, business models, and ethics; but, they have one thing in common. They both want to sell products that will make both the market and the manufacturer money.
Option One
The first option is to introduce six SKU’s of the eight ounce cups into 20 supermarkets. The twenty supermarkets have been carefully selected in the northeastern and western regions of the United Stated, where over 50% of all yogurt sales take place. Research shows that 74% of all yogurt sales are from the eight ounce products, thus leading this to be the most popular product size. The only drawbacks to this option are the costs that come with it. As shown in figure 1, the slotting fees, advertising costs, promotion expenses, sales, general, and administrative costs jointly create a larger expense than profits will generate in the first year. Advertising for this option is regulated by the supermarkets; they require quarterly trade promotions and an extensive advertising plan. However, when looking in the future this option can potentially be the most profitable, exceeding $11 million in net profit value in five years.

Permaculture is a system of agriculture and society whose design is inspired by patterns observed in natural ecosystems. As Mollison states: "Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labor; "[1]. The Permaculture movement began in the 1970's as an alternative farming strategy that seeks "permanent agriculture". The term evolved to permanent-culture, since the social aspects are important in the agriculture. The term permaculture goes beyond food production, it is a sustainable system that provides food, energy, shelter, as well as the social components [2][3].
The main point that can be taken from this analysis is that due to its strong brand image, lower shelf-life, and cheaper prices than its competitors, Natureview
Distribution channels are organized in several ways: conventional, vertical, horizontal and multichannel (Kern R. 2013). Some of these organizational methods are more structured than others. When a distribution channel deals with more than one independent producer, such as wholesalers and retailers, the channel is known as a conventional distribution channel. (Kern R. 2013) These channels are not normally known to be strong and typically don’t give the customer the quality of product that they deserve. In a vertical marketing system, the retailers, wholesalers and producers, join forces to create a unified front, promoting an individual product (Kern R. 2013). Vertical distribution channels are stronger than the conventional distribution channels because all of the companies involved carry some of the load of power. (Kern R. 2013) In a horizontal distribution channel, companies join up and combine all of their finances and resources, in order to take on more than one company or product (Kern R. 2013). A multichannel distribution channel is where a large corporation uses two or more marketing channels to better target their desired customer segments (Kern R.
As mentioned in an earlier assignment, there are three main types of distribution channels. The first is the channel that goes from the producer, then to the wholesaler, then to the retailer or sells to the consumer. The second channel starts with the producer who sells straight to the retailer, who then sells to the consumer. The third channel goes directly from the producer to the consumer. Channels one and two are classed as indirect marketing channels, whereas channel three is a direct marketing channel as it goes straight from producer to consumer.
TriState Dairies is a food processor that packages and sells dairy products. At present their core business is selling 1) pasteurized, skimmed, and plain milk, and 2) yogurts and yogurt drinks. At the moment the flavored milks sales overall are low and the market small. The bulk of flavored milks are sold to parents who buy them for children. The marketing department thinks that there may be untapped
