Pollution is, without doubt, a serious global issue that needs attention and resolutions. As human technologies improve, water, land, air, noise, and light pollutions are all inevitable. Five and a half million deaths each year is caused by air pollution. More than a million sea birds and mammals are killed each year by water pollution. Hundreds of dolphins and whales are killed each year by noise . These shocking facts all shows the significance of enforcing laws to ensure all people are taking care of our environment by decreasing the amount of pollution.

Government enacted solutions are probably the most effective ways to reduce carbon emissions and to control pollution since unfortunately the majority of individuals mainly act to their own self-interest and are not concerned with the future of the planet. This is a prime example of the tragedy of the commons, which is the exploitation of a common resource. In this case the common resource is the atmosphere. The first method proposed is the carbon cap trade system. The term cap means the limit or the maximum of the amount of pollutant to be emitted. A trade refers to the transfer of permits that have to be bought by firms that need to increase their volume of emissions from firms that require fewer permits 1. The carbon tax method is a tax on the carbon content of fuels — effectively a tax on the carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels 2. So, which system would be best for the government to enact to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere?

These actions limit the damage an individual is causing, which can help reduce the effects of global warming, although on a negligible scale. However, these actions, if widespread, can have as much of an effect as stopping large scale polluters. But, I feel that campaigning to change laws to stop large scale pollution will have a more beneficial effect than small actions undertaken by an individual, and is a goal more easily achieved than causing widespread change to individual actions which would be necessary to have a similar

Your day has been great so far. You went on vacation, you found a dollar bill on the floor, you ate your favorite dish, nothing can be better than this. As soon as you walk on the boardwalk you are hoping to see big waves and fish in the sea, instead, you see dead fish and some animals floating in the water next to old car tires, trash, and fertilizer. Now you feel terrible and want to go home. Pollution is devastating. The reason why I researched this topic is that I do not want my family nor my planet to get sick. Pollution can be stopped very easily, it’s just that people “don’t know” how to stop or they just don’t care, which is a serious problem. I want people to see that pollution is mainly caused by humans, and also for them to see that it is a horrible thing that is happening. Some kids litter because they see their parents and their whole family doing it. When I was researching this topic, I noticed that I needed to find out more information, so I asked questions to myself. When did pollution get so bad? How many animals have gone extinct because of pollution? How many people die each year because of pollution? How much does everyone on the planet pollute each year? What is the best way to stop pollution? Can just one person make a difference? After a lot of research, I found out lots of ways that we can stop pollution, so it is possible to end it. Or at least improve the air.

This will lower people into having less important resources such as: food, shelter and water. One possible way to control the carcinogenic pollutant is to get a bill passed by Congress, which makes it mandatory for industrial places to reduce the amount of pollution they create. By reducing the amount of pollution production, the exposure level of the carcinogenic pollutant will decrease. This law enforces the industrial companies to establish new methods and strategies to create their products with less pollution distribution in the end. As another preventive measure, there are products available to the population that contains carcinogenic elements that can be taken off the market until they are redesigned and approved by the government. One last effort to regulate the cancer pollutant is to increase the funds for research so that we can have a better understanding of cancer and how to cure it. Consequently, we can create better drugs available to the population, which can decrease the chances of people, with cancer, from dying.
