Response: “Alan Potter (2014) wrote that John MacArthur warned us that if we lose the biblical foundation while preaching this will lead to the decline of preaching which will contribute to the weakness and worldliness of the church, so for a church to be spiritual healthy, preaching should return to its proper biblical foundation (https://www.linkedin.com). Paul told Timothy that by preaching the Scripture, man and women could be wise for salvation (2 Tim. 3:15 NKJV). They learn the way of salvation through the Bible which the Holy Spirit taught the preacher to use, they should not use their own words dictated by man’s wisdom (1 Corinth. 2: 13
When my family and I decided to move to the United States, I began a process of adaptation to a new culture and language. However, this process of adaptation helped me develop a sensitivity to cultural differences and the values of individuals from different cultures. I arrived to this country in July 12, 2012, and I was excited to continue studying Psychology. However, I needed to be fluent in English and wait a year to become a Florida resident before I could begin studying. I considered this period of my life to be frustrating, as I wanted to learn about Psychology. I thought this represented an obstacle or a waste of time that was preventing me from continuing studying, however, I had to see it as an opportunity to really learn the language, and learn to be persistent if I wanted to achieve my goal of becoming a counselor.

After reading through the chapter on the DMIS stages (denial, defense, minimization, acceptance, adaptation, and integration), I would say that personally, I fall under the “acceptance” stage. “This stage represents an individual’s ability to recognize and appreciate cultural difference in terms of both people’s values and their behavior” (Cushner, McClelland, Safford, Pg. 152). As it states, the individual experiencing acceptance is “beginning to demonstrate the ability to interpret phenomena within a cultural context”, I believe that this is a fitting sentence for myself. Being that I am from a rural prairie town in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma, and the only people where I lived were other Senecas like my family and friends, I did not experience a cultural shock until I was in the sixth grade and had moved to Florida. In this town in Oklahoma, it was rare to even see someone described as “white”, as racial prejudice is still rampant throughout Oklahoma against Natives and basically, everybody who isn’t. I was taught to be accepting and welcoming throughout my life, and I believe that made the transition into a new cultural system much easier.

Fear can be anything, fear of the dark, thieves, monsters, dogs, hight, being stuck in a place, snakes, deaths, anything. As long as it chases you in your deepest nightmares and make you wake up shaking and sweating terrified, but also relieved that is over. But all these fears have a reason. For example Salamanca's fear of a pregnant women, it's probably because her mother was expecting a baby but he died. The fear of elevators is because she lived in a farm and she is definitely not used to elevators. Sal is also terrified of car accident because that was the cause of her mother's death. Unlike many people Salamanca is not afraid of spiders, snakes and wasps, that is because she is a country
Okay people, try not to laugh too loud, but I thought the bread and wine were called sacraments. Now, I find out that to be politically correct, they are referred to as the elements of the sacrament. As a Baptist, the Lord’s Supper or Communion, which are ordinances, were not commonly referred to as a sacrament which is the religious ceremony.
Your patient voices concern about her upcoming visit. Explain how her memory could be affecting the concern. Also, explain how conditioning can affect attitudes toward healthcare. Describe some major strategies that contribute to memory retention, and give an example of each.
Sally is the encourager of the team, she encourages her team to follow through on their ideas. She gets the job done in a timely matter, but does not act as an individual that you cannot depend on. She displays a positive attitude toward the group and project. She does this by examining the project specifics and creating beneficial information the team can use in order to complete the project. She sets deadlines for the tasks at hand and encourages everyone a part of the team to complete the project in a timely matter. This individual is very organized and shows a dependable personality. As the leader of the project I would show appreciation of this role by delegating responsibilities to Sally. I would show her I have confidence in her work
According to Gleason and Ratner (2013), “In the United States, the proportion of children who are raised learning more than one language is estimated to be about 20 percent, with Spanish becoming the most common second language (Gleason & Ratner, 2013, p. 75). My interview this week was with a teacher, Mrs. T, who teaches young English learners. Mrs. T teaches children who are in the first grade. Because the school has a growing Hispanic population, the native language of the children she teaches is Spanish. The interview took place in her classroom during the last hour of the school day. I observed as she worked with one of her students in particular who seems to
The preacher must want to proclaim the word in order for it to be effective. There must be a fervent burning within, to drive a preacher to be proficient in the craft of preaching. “There is a sense in which the sermon preparation time is an act of worship. It is not simply some technical/skills- oriented exercise separate and apart from the transformation we seek to evoke in others through the power of the Holy Spirit.” In order to reach the depths of the word of God, one must have a desire to dig and prepare. One’s desire should be considered as a matter of life or
When it comes to preaching, there are a variety of styles, techniques and methodologies to consider. From my own experience, I have found that however a person chooses to preach, there is no one size fits all approach; meaning that each preacher needs to find their own personal style. I think of a sermon like a softened ball of clay; each preacher has their own unique mold that will create a particular impression into one side of the clay when they preach a sermon. The congregation receiving the sermon then also has a mold that will leave an impression on the other side of the clay. Both molds shape the clay, or in other words, both the preacher and the congregation play a role in how the sermon is given
Response: “It is true because when using expository preaching you are to study the Word of God and by doing so, you as a preacher, would be learn fully what God wants you to be. H. B. Charles Jr. says preachers are not motivational speakers, self-help gurus, or social justice champions but heralds that are commissioned to proclaim the message of God found in the Bible (http://www.hbcharlesjr.com). Paul told Timothy that the Word of God is “profitable” (2 Tim. 3:16 NKJV), it is profitable also for the preacher because he should practice what he preaches. If it reproofs, it speaks pointedly to him to live all the things that are pleasing God, it also points that is wrong so that it can be made right.
This excerpt is taken from Wednesday’s sermon. There are elements that make a strong Church, we need to incorporate these elements so we can have a strong church and see the power of God move for the cause of revival. How do we have a strong church, by being strong spiritually! We have to have the Word of God, let us Fill our lives with a knowledge of God’s Word. Bible preaching is essential because Bible preaching causes men to have faith. We must be a praying church and we must pray with fervency. The desire to approach the throne of God a continual basis should be our desire. To pray is the will of God for our lives. We must be a worshiping Church. Let the praises ring out because praise brings victory. We need to be a united church. We
being God sent for the gospel of Jesus Christ, one’s identity in Jesus Christ, and being made a disciple. Each is a demonstration of God accepting His people as being unworthy to be worthy for His glory. It is a blessing to be a designer original, because it resembles His image. It is in his image a person observes the spirit of holiness and the righteousness of God. The theology of preaching helps a person to recognizes the owner of the breath of life dwelling in one’s body. Likewise, God is willing to restore and revive those that have lost their lives to the secular world. God controls all matters of life. It is the individual choice to be made over by God. God is willing to shape, mold, and fill those purposing to surrender their all before Him. God is to be worshipped, praise, and glorified within a person’s body. Therefore, the role of preaching in ministry begins with self-examination and accountability to rightly divide the word of truth before God, not pleasing man, (2 Tim. 4:1-5, ESV). The passage of the Scriptures is clearly emphasizing the charges to Timothy as well as other church leaders. The author, Thomas Hale writes, “Paul gave five charges, preach the word, that is the gospel Jesus Christ, be prepared at all times, remain on duty; correct, rebuke and encourage.” Hale continues to write, “Timothy must preach the Gospel diligently, because the time will come when men will not accept the truth. People will listen only to what is interesting to them at the
In 2 Timothy 4:1-4 Paul charges Timothy along with Christians of today with “God and the Lord Jesus Christ” as his witnesses to, “Preach the Word!” This exhortation does not come without merit, Paul gives his reasons in verse three and four why it is important. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” NASB reads, “But wanting to have their ears tickled” and this is exactly what is going on in the churches of Christ of today before they totally fall away to false doctrine. They want to please their own desires and instead of glorifying God they glorify themselves.
