Patton-Fuller Community Hospital has been in business in the City of Kelsey since 1975. The hospital provides high quality medical care to the citizens of Kelsey and the surrounding area. Some of the services the hospital offers are x-rays, pharmacy, and emergency services for children and adults. “As one of the first hospitals in Kelsey, the staff is committed to providing a variety of programs that will support the health and welfare of the local community populations” (Apollo Group, 2010). The hospital’s backbone network structure for the entire hospital is 1000Base T. Some of the other individual sections of the departmental network use different standards such as 1000Base F. The areas that use the 1000Base T are responsible for the …show more content…
Some of the other individual sections of the departmental network use different standards such as 1000Base F. The two networks are connected by a network bridge. The network bridge is used to inexpensively and easily connect local area network segments (Microsoft, 2010). The reason a network bridge is inexpensive is that there is no configuration required and you don’t have to purchase additional hardware such as routers and other bridges. The hospital’s administrative network consists of Apple iMACS and thin computers that use 1000Base T with CAT 6 cables. All work stations belonging to Executive Management has Apple iMAC computers with 24” monitors, 2.4 GHz speed, 2 GB RAM, and a 500 MB hard drive. Human Resources, OPNS, and the Finance Senior Managers have Apple iMACS with 20” monitors, 2 GHz speed, and a 350 MB hard drive. All of the systems have OS virtualization and use the MAC Operating System X, Leopard, and Windows XP. OS virtualization allows separate, isolated virtual environments to be used on a single server. The MAC Operating System X is a UNIX system that is both simple and powerful. Leopard further enhanced the system by making it faster and more reliable. Windows XP is a product of Microsoft but it is able to be installed on any MAC using a native version of Microsoft Office. This way users are able to create documents using MS Word, make presentations using PowerPoint, and
Patton – Fuller community hospital’s network system consist of two major parts, the first part is the executive part that connects the hospitals executive management, human resources department, operations, IT and data center, etc., the first network is connected using a 1000base-T Gigabyte network connection that uses a typical Cat6 cabling (Apollo Group Inc., 2008), the second major part of the network connects the departments of radiology, operating room, wards, ICU’s, etc. using a 1000base F fiber optic based connection, this connection is a
Patton-Fuller Community Hospital is a prominent hospital that is known for specializing in pharmacy, radiology, surgery, and physical therapy. This community hospital has numerous departments and each has a different IT need, so understanding which programs will work and be compatible is their major objective. The patients of Patton-Fuller Hospital are accustomed to the quality service
”Patton- Fuller Community Hospital has prided itself on providing top-of-the-notch not-for-profit health care organization since their opening in 1975” (University of Phoenix, 2012). The hospital’s specialty is in providing high-quality health care to all patients, and establishing peaceful work relationships within the staff. Services provided by the hospital are “surgery, emergency medical care, physical therapy, labor and delivery, radiology, and more” (University of Phoenix, 2012). “In Kelsey, Patton-Fuller Community Hospital is the first hospital, dedicated at the hospital is to
The customer required that each workstation have at least 256 GB to 500 GB of local storage. They also wanted a file server on the network to protect data in case a workstation went down. This server will be networked into allow file sharing between devices and have available 40 GB to start. These network upgrades, the greater use of applications, and file sharing will require more protection; a new firewall programmed to filter packets and analyze external requests and direct requests and traffic to the right application.
Personal within the Administrative Areas that are only responsible for data entry are given Thin Client Computer: HP model L1706. The Administrative Departments have two networked HP 4350 Black and White Laser Printers and one color HP 4200pht networked Laser Printer. The Administrative Department is then linked to the IT Data Center where in the IT Date Center; connections are established with servers and the internet. This circuit will be discussed later in this paper.
Rob Pettigrew is the manager of technical systems and help desk center of Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. Protecting networks are getting harder as there are different types of devices being used by companies. An example of this is Wyoming Medical Center has four different classifications of PCs, PCs in the hallways for the staff to use, PCs at the nursing stations, PCs in offices, and PCs on that move between patient rooms. Pettigrew deployed Novell ZenWorks to 850 of the medical centers 900 PCs to ensure each one has the right software. With having multiple applications, medical software systems, and the different machine types, and restrictions make it difficult for Pettigrew to ensure proper protection for the network. Another concern is the

Patton Fuller Community Hospital (PFCH) has been a not for profit healthcare facility since 1975 with a focus on providing the highest quality of healthcare. PFCH specializes in the following services; emergency medical care, specialized surgical procedures, baby delivery and prenatal care, physical therapy, and has a well-established radiology department. Being one of the primary healthcare facilities in their area, PFCH has raised the bar by providing a diverse selection of health programs that support the local community. This paper will review the current business systems in place, suggest improvements and provide how those changes could overall improve PFCH, both internally and externally.
The company’s servers and most of their computers were purchased over a decade ago and are creating issues with the newer properties thin clients ability to communicate with the network. ULH’s servers are located within their headquarters in California and are still operating on Windows NT 3.51. The company wants to increase the manageability and performance of the network in addition to being able to infinitely upgrade the network as growth requires. Currently, ULH is in a position where their IT network is creating a bottle neck to their growth. The network was functioning sufficiently when they just had 2 properties all operating on the same outdated operating systems, however acquisition of newer properties has created many issues with network functionality.
An operating system is the software that supports a computer’s basic functions, such as planning tasks, performing applications, and controlling peripherals. When choosing and introducing the best system for a business such as this, it’s important to make sure it fits the needs of the business while being easy to install, set up, manage, and understand. For this reason, I decided that the Apple OS X Server would be a good choice for this business. The OS X Server allows for more power, governing, and alliance throughout an organization. It has many features that would be a valuable addition to running a company. For example, file sharing makes it easier than ever to share and exchange documents between personnel and helps protect against tampering and spying by encrypting data. The Profile Manager feature easily creates profiles to set up user accounts for mail, contacts, calendars, and messages. It also enforces constraints and password guidelines. Another feature, the Caching Server, speeds up the download and delivery of software quickly and safely. With these features, and many others, setting up and
Balgorsky, (2014) argues that the broadband gets upgraded once the network becomes operational which means that the healthcare center becomes equipped and organized. The operations phases required the workflow PFS document imaging implemented among the initial ones. The nursing informaticist comes in phase II where the team needs it followed the workflow PFS document imaging.
Manufacturing depends vigorously on spreadsheets and word preparing applications. Every staff station is to be furnished with a 27' iMac and enchantment pac, and every station will be configured together as a subnetwork for the department. These frameworks offer more than sufficient review on their substantial screen, so staff can keep different windows open at a solitary time. Profitability will be significantly expanded, as OS X and the track cushion will permit staff to swipe through different things, without the need to open and close separately. Organizing each of these frameworks together allows staff to in a flash get to a required archive from another Mac, without the need to get to Widget
Five doctor offices have decided to join each of their buildings to a network. With this, each office will have access to each of the other four offices’ information. This would greatly benefit them and their patients, allowing them to pull up a
This business case investigation discusses in depth about the process of virtualization of servers in an organization and the various benefits of doing so. Giving a brief introduction to the concept of virtualization, it was introduced in the late 1960s when the resources of mainframe computers were divided between several applications. [1] The term virtualization has since then been expanded in terms of practical application. The conversion of the physical server into a pool containing several virtual machines which act individually as one computer is known is hardware virtualization.
Topology: The current network was able to mix different speeds to match departmental needs. The physical topology in use is linear bus topology which also translates to a logical bus topology. The cable in use being Thicknet gives extended length allowance which is 500meters for a given segment and 2500 meters total cable
