I’ve been in the health insurance industry for most of my career; with my latest role as a claims quality leader for the West, Central and East teams. In this role I was a key-contributor in improving operational efficiencies and performance. I also collaborated with department managers and team leads in an effort to improve lower performance scores. One achievement that I am most proud of is working on enhancing the production data base from start to finish. (explain the process) In addition to overseeing team performance, I was also responsible for recruitment, training, coaching, preparing quarterly and annual performance reviews, approving timesheets and collaborating with HR on associate performance improvement plans. My MS Office skills
Through my experience with the healthcare field, I have seen that low socioeconomic status, culture, and access are the major contributors to the health disparities today. Whether it is not being able to afford health insurance/medical costs, a culture that’s attitude and beliefs does not put much value on preventative care, or simply not having appropriate transportation to the doctor, all these factors work together against the patient. Medical professions can best tackle these issues by first knowing and understanding the needs of the population in which they practice. Theoretically, if one is aware of specific needs then those needs can be better addressed, whether they are financial or cultural needs. Also, medical professionals can work
Imagine a connected healthcare interface where your medications are linked to your smartphone, smart pill bottles remind you of when it’s time to take your medications, and prescription medications or surgeries are customized towards your individual genetic and physical needs. This is the future of healthcare - we just have a long way to go before we get there. As you look at startups in the healthtech space - many of them are well on their way to having one piece of the puzzle - AdhereTech with smart wireless pill bottle to TalkSpace with customized online mental health counseling. To create that integrated network I believe the buy-in will need to come from some of the largest healthcare companies currently, such as Johnson & Johnson, Cardinal
So I would like to point out I do work for a few different businesses in Southern Maine, but my job at the Cross Insurance Arena is slightly different. We are under new management which is overseen by Comcast Spectator which runs multiple venues throughout the country. And in the case of Cross Insurance Arena full time employees are told that, “The Cross Insurance Arena can’t afford employee parking,” therefore there’s always been a struggle to find a parking let alone pay for it.
I have identified this Agency as a site that will integrate my education as a Health Services Manager. The site supervisor will help me in developing different plans that will coordinate with various emergency personnel at the state, local, and municipal levels, and make sure emergency contingencies are covered. I will be using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of any problems that I would encounter while doing my internship. I will develop a further understanding of the challenges that I will be facing with when responding to patients. This would also help me with my communication
Whether through formal preparation, such as your BSN or MSN degrees, or through your professional duties like continuing education requirements, our nursing career is an ongoing cycle of learning that is a part of the day-to-day profession. As the number one most trusted profession, it is our duty to continue to progress with the direction healthcare is advancing. I believe the responsibility of the nurse is going to grow in healthcare. While there are topics that I concur with, there are also points in this chapter that I see in an opposing view.
There are many times in my life where my passion for something has clouded my judgment and lead me to make decisions very quickly. The most current example of this was this past fall when I was searching for an internship for the summer. I had been to the career fairs and received several interviews with different companies. The company that I have always wanted to work for is a pharmaceutical company called Eli Lilly. When I received the interview for this internship, I prioritized it over all other interviews and did not prepare for my other interviews. This irrational thinking limited my career options, as a few of the other companies did not offer me an internship position. This was the first act of passion with this company. Within Eli Lilly, there is a veterinary medicine branch called Elanco that has its own hiring system and is the branch I truly wanted to work at. I received the internship offer from Eli Lilly and I accepted the offer without waiting and hearing all my options. A week later, I received the internship offer from Elanco, which was my ideal internship but had to turn it down because I had already committed to Eli Lilly. This was the second act of passion within two weeks that limited my options for my career.
My survey responses revealed that my two career categories are Social and Conventional. I agree with the Social category. I am currently in a Certified Nursing Assistant class and I have been accepted into numerous nursing schools in Indiana. The Social category fits me best because I enjoy working with other people, teaching others about a specific topic, and caring for others. I do not agree with the Conventional category that was assigned to me. I am not one to enjoy strictly math on a daily basis, and I would belittle myself to the fullest extent if I had a career that did not require a degree.
In this course there was three areas that I believe will be most helpful for me in my career as a healthcare administrator. The content about the United States government I feel will be very helpful in my career path. In my current job I help people sign up for Medicaid. This is a government program that has been in the forefront of the news recently. Many of my clients have questions that go beyond the scope of Medicaid and deal with do does the government make the choices they make. I find myself paying more and more attention the news to find out what is happening with the health care bill and what can I do as private citizen to fight and protect my rights. Helping people with their Medicaid has also forced me to learn all I can about how
Growing up I never thought I would pursue a career in healthcare. I always imagined myself as an engineer, someone capable of fixing the world's most difficult problems. As I've gotten older, I opened myself up to an entire new realm of possibilities when I considered more than just one profession. My mom is a physical therapist and I went to work with her often over the years. She is one of those therapists who brings in sunshine and the sound of chirping birds when she enters a room; patients light up when they see her and pass her name around the senior home as if it is a trade secret. I’ve never been one much for sunshine and rainbows, but I do bring a certain energy to the room as people have told me. I am an odd bundle of happiness mixed
Oh man.. diet this.. diet that!! what will they think of next!.. what an industry.. I am not saying that it won't work.. but i know that if I do a set program, i will end up getting off it in the end and gaining my weight back.. I started cooking for myself.. I found it was a great way of cutting the calories!..but i didn't know how to cook... then my friend bought me this dirty little beginners cookbook that was so dang funny that I just couldnt put it down... I've made some great stuff with it and all a helluva lot healthier than eating out!.. I can't tell you the name of the book cause it's politically incorrect.. but if you google "whipped and beaten Culinary works" you'll find it.. but if you get offended easily and can't take a joke..skip
I would like to work as a healthcare manager in (my husband’s) medical office. Some of my primary responsibilities would include developing and implementing office policies and procedures, maintaining medical records, submitting claims to insurance companies, managing the administration part of the office as well as supervising the staff professionals such as registered nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and front desk personnel. My job duty would also include training new employees and assessing their performances.
I specifically searched for universities in entertainment hubs so that, alongside pursing my production degree, I could be working in the industry. This what I do in Austin currently: I perform with my two bands, rehearse, book shows, contribute to others or my own recording sessions, create bills for shows, and collaborate with other artists in the scene. It's been exciting to take my first audio engineering course with a respected, veteran Austin musician and engineer: Tim Dittmar. It's certainly got me further in the door of understanding and helped realize for certain that engineering and producing is a job I would enjoy. I've been able to apply some of what he has taught me into my mixes, though I'm still learning. Finding a mentor or
Hello Kristy, it is nice to meet you, and I hope you have a wonderful semester. Once I start my career, I will have had little experience in healthcare as you are now. I have worked in some healthcare environments, but it was not with patient care. I worked as a housekeeping, laundry worker, and dietary aide. You are right that there are different opportunities with working in healthcare. I think that it is good how hard you are working toward completing your education, and it is truly shown in what you wrote. That is good that your boyfriend is your support system. I hope you get everything that you set your mind to.
As you grow older you realize that you will never learn nothing that should taken for granted. Is all valuable.
Thankfully, I do not foresee any changing in my employers’ operations. Every employer wants you to you believe that the company/agency is a “family,” but this one truly is. We honestly care about each other and help maintain our own “self-care.” Working at a Domestic Violence Shelter (that includes Sexual Assault services) can be difficult; we need our own time to recoup. From our Executive Director to Client Advocates, every person is aligned with the “Big 5 Personality Factors.” Granted, low neuroticism—not high. My leaders possess: Technical, Human, and Conceptual skills—regardless of their management assigned position. Even as Client Advocates we are encouraged to become proficient in all aspects of the agency, only being barred from financial/funding
