Climate Change: How To Stop It In
Its Tracks As Earths average temperature increases every year, the discussion of climate change has become a significant topic in the scientific community. Human activities such as powering factories, running automobiles or something as simple as burning wood for heat, emit dangerous greenhouse gases. What makes these greenhouse gases so detrimental is that they absorb the heat radiating off of Earth and keep it in the lower atmosphere creating a “blanket” of warmth around the Earth’s surface. This causes a drastic increase in the Earths average temperature. Due to the rise in temperature, the polar caps have been melting faster than ever, this is dangerous not only because of the risk of floods and sea level increase but ocean water will become less saline and ecosystems will be destroyed, impacting humans just as much as marine life. In the article, Understand faulty thinking to tackle climate change by George Marshall, Marshall states that most people in our world today do not care about climate change because it will not affect them, “Which points to the real problem: climate change is exceptionally amorphous, … no deadlines, no geographic location, no single cause or solution.” (Marshall 2014). Because the author makes it clear that climate change is indeed a great plight, and fails to be acknowledged by people, it is a significant matter that should be discussed
If we talk about the biggest problem, we will see climate change in the world. There is certainly a great deal of evidence to support the view that global warming is a result of the build up of greenhouse gases caused by human activities. In this essay I will look briefly at the scientific debate surrounding its causes and perhaps more importantly, consider what action we can take to slow the process down.
addressing climate change. Global climate change means it is a global problem, so one nation or
concerned of the effects climate change could have on the world. There is so much evidence that climate change exist so we need to find a way to stop climate change so the effects of climate change won’t happen. We soon learned that the cause of climate change could have been through greenhouse gases. There are different types of greenhouse gases, but the one we’re going to talk about is carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases (which are located below the atmosphere) are gases that allow light from the sun to pass through the gases and some light/heat back out into space, but a certain amount of light gets trapped on the earth. This is called the greenhouse effect.
Climate change. It has been on all of our minds as more and more controversy and panic are induced by new data being collected all the time. The very thought of it as the truth begins to fade into the foreground is enough to make many people sick. As this problem begins to take political forefronts, the question is, what are we going to do about it? Fortunately, public opinion and political concern as it has in the past and still does, has motivated individuals and even entire nations to take action against the upcoming threat. However, not all individuals are open to the truth of the existence and significance of climate change.
Many people see the flaws in our current world and how it is hurting us. However, people do not like change and think it is impossible for us to change.“But for those of us born and raised inside this system, though we may sell see the dead-end flaw of its central logic, it can remain intensely difficult to see a way out." (Klein, pg 178) Klein explains to us that all we have to do is change. Although, most of us realize there needs to be change, we do not actually put any of it into action. In order to fight climate change we must start putting our thoughts into actions and stop being afraid of change.
climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. It is undisputedly clear that human are partly responsible for global warming through deforestation burning fossil fuels and other changes we have caused to the land. There has not only been a significant increase in temperature across the globe but the seal level has rose 20cm in the past century alone. the (Intergovernmental panel of climate change, IPCC) has also tracked the “unprecedented recent rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases since the beginning of the industrial revolution.” It is alarming that the emissions of greenhouse gas continue to rise globally and it is deeply concerning that all countries, particularly developing countries, are vulnerable
Climate change has now become a conflict that affects every country in the world whether they are a part of the cause or not. There has been damage done by climate change to our plant that is irreversible. Ranging from the melting ice caps to the extinction of many spices. Yet this is not the peak of effects caused by climate change. If countries do not commit to changing the causes of climate change our planet could possibly turn into an inhabitable planet for humans. It has been stated by many scientist that if we alter the climate of the plant by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit it would cause drastic changes that would ultimately cause the plant to be uninhabitable. We have already cause a change in climate of .7 degrees Fahrenheit. This should be
In the wise words of Chicken little “The sky is falling, the sky is falling” but what he actually meant to say was “The climate is changing, the climate is changing! Global temperatures are rising, Oceans are warming, Ice sheets are shrinking, Sea levels are rising, and arctic sea ice is declining. The evidence for rapid climate change is gripping, and it’s happening all around. Climate change can be a confusing topic which people are often misinformed about it, or are lead to believe that it’s nothing to be concerned about. In actuality rapid climate change is a real concern, it’s something everyone should be informed as to what climate change is, what causes it, and what humans can do about it.
Did you know that the United States is the second largest contributor of CO2, and the less concerned about it? Climate change has been a problem for decades, but just recently we start to see how big of a problem climate change is, and can be. Climate change is one of the biggest problems that we are facing right now, even if keep trying to act like is nothing. Everybody, the people, the government, and big companies are a big contributor of this phenomenon. The more we keep denying its effects, the more we are going to regret it later, and going to wish that we could go back and try to fix the issue. You going to know one day, and its going to be late. Climate change should be the U.S government main focus this decade and the ones to come. Climate change can affect a country in every way economically, destroyed …., cause a lot of deaths.
The arrogance of mankind is not in the belief that their lifestyle can alter the Planet’s climate, nor in the denial that it could; instead it is believing that we can understand and address climate disruption individually. This is an issue that stretches far beyond a single discipline, and affects every living creature on Earth, reinforcing the notion that geologists, oceanographers, or even climate scientists cannot tackle this problem on their own. We need to determine our response to the realization that we are living in a period coined the Anthropocene; a time defined by the very influence of human action on the environment we live in. The key to addressing the predicament we now find ourselves in: one of altered weather and climate, shifting ecosystems, unstable resources and numerous negative health effects, as well as possible mass migrations and copious extinctions; to survive it we must use an interdisciplinary approach. By involving as many sectors as possible, we will greatly increase our understanding of the problems we face, and we will be better equipped to address them and find solutions. Through cooperation and artful communication, together we can confront the looming repercussions of climate change.
Climate change has been one of leading environmental policy issue in the past two decades. For that reason, it is imperative that Britain reduce their emissions to as little as possible. Naturally, the ability to do this comes from Parliament, who should do its utmost to come to a comprehensive strategy for the state. However, this effort cannot effectively gain the necessary momentum with the Conservative Party having conflicting views against combating climate change itself. The Conservative Party's backing of unsafe energy sources, dissolving of environmental departments, and the prioritization of utilizing the most cost-effective alternatives will cause greater destruction from climate change in the near and far future.
On 22 April 2017, thousands of people flooded the streets of Washington D.C. to call for environmental reform as a response to climate change. They were concerned that due to President Donald Trump’s conservative view on climate change and his Cabinet’s ties to the oil industry, this issue would be overlooked. Environmentalism in the United States at the federal level began during the Progressive Era with former President Theodore Roosevelt. Since then, substantial progress in the way of conservationist reform has been made, predominantly as a result of the Environmental Movement of the 70s. Former President Barack Obama recently attempted to make further process with his Clean Power Plan; however, Trump’s EPA is trying hard to reverse these other environmental reforms. While extensive environmental reform is needed to combat climate change and continue the progress made since the Progressive Era, this reform is unlikely under the current administration.
Along with high poverty levels, lack of education, and issues with food and water security. Climate change is one of the many, yet most serious trials facing our world today. The world’s climate has changed drastically over the years. To be specific, one example would be the intense warming pattern that began in the middle nineteen-twenties and continued into the millennium and even into today. While, there is new knowledge regarding the topic of climate change and scientific technology, such as Earth-orbiting satellites that can help with climate change vital action is still required by the individuals of the world. In order to, prevent the danger it poses to the future of Earth and its people, wildlife species, and weather and sea temperatures and patterns (Weems, C. C., 2017).
Environmental issues cause controversy among citizens, especially in the United States, because the skepticism within the American psyche results in denial and anti-science mindsets. The debate about whether or not climate change is real has been on-going; it is possible that climate change occurs because of all natural causes, solely because of human activity, or a combination of natural causes augmented by human activity. The uncertainty of trusting scientific conclusions derives from social issues, such as economic status, generational debt, or simply not caring. Certain demographics of people either deny science or do not care because they can only believe what they see. Even today, some people do not believe in the moon landing, evolution, or the shape of the Earth. Climate change is one of the greater evils in the world because it affects the population of the world as a whole, but people do not recognize how big of an issue it actually is. On the other hand, people are irrational and refuse to accept scientific facts and proof based on unreasonable beliefs. Especially for the EPA, it is important to understand why people resist, so they can address their doubts to help them see the dangers of climate change and how we can improve our current situation for future generations. It is also important for scientists to continue research and prove climate change, so they can explain the situation to every group of people. The American psyche consists of disagreement and
Climate change is a topic that is becoming very controversial all across the United States. Climate change is a critical change in the measures of climate that lasts for an extended period of time. It covers major changes with the temperature, wind patterns, precipitation and other effects that come about ten or more years later (EPA, 2011). Climate change is bad for people because they are not getting the same consist air that they used to get.
