A biome is a large area or habitat that occupies the earth. Animals, plants along with flora and fauna occupy biome habitats. They cleverly adapt to their environment and geographical location. The area that I have chosen to research are the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Rangers are in South Australia, covering 37,000 square kilometres. The biome expands from Crystal Brook in the south to Mount Hopeless in the north. There are several main general features associated with this semi-arid biome. It has landforms that are above sea level. The biome has high mountain ranges with summits reaching 900 metres. The area has steep gorges, cliffs, ridges and plateaus. Despite there being around 100,000 giraffes in Africa the population is still dwindling. One of the causes for this is that habitat and food availability is dwindling. Biomes are appropriate conditions for organizing the natural world because the organisms that live in them common constellations of adaptations, particularly the climate of each of the areas and the characteristic vegetation types that develops in these divisions. It should be understood that the climate is perhaps the most important in determining classes of individuals who may live in an area and the ways they should be amended to live under different conditions of temperature and precipitation and seasonal distribution of these factors element. Every place on Earth has its own climate, influenced by both macroclimate regions as the particular microclimate. The soils are very important because they are essential to determine the types of plants that will grow into a bioclimatic zone in partical, in addition, also as substrates for animals serve. There are many places where you can find savanah. The most common places are australia, southwest asia, madagascar, south america, and india. Right before the rainy seasons come most of the animals are about to dye of dehydration but then it starts raining and rejuvenates them. The place where the most savannas are is in africa. Because it is so hot and dry; not many trees grow there but the trees that grows there most is the acacia tree or the boab tree.These trees store water in between the bark and the tree. Since it is so hot and there is little water, animals have adaptations to survive. On of these adaptations is the african elephant. These elephants have a physical adaptation to break the skin of the boab tree and drink the water inside.

Humans create savannas by burning grasslands and cutting down trees so they can plant crops. Since human needs have over-powered the needs of the land, savannas are slowly turning into one big Sahara(a desert wasteland). There are several types of savannas around the world. There are the Serengeti Plains of Tanzania with lions, zebras, elephants, giraffes and many types of ungulates(animals with hooves) that graze and hunt. The Tropical Savanna is a wet and dry place which regulates all areas cover by the savanna’s growth. The Savanna’s temperature starts at 64° F and the rainfall is about 30 and 50 inches. Five months out of a year during the dry season less than 4 inches of rain is accumulated by the savanna. The dry seasons are related to low sun cycles. African elephants also known as the savanna elephants, they are the largest mammals in the world. They weigh up to 10,000 pounds and grow up to 12 feet tall.

A biome, also known as life zones, consists of all plants, animals, and other organisms, as well the physical environment in a particular area. A biome is characterized by its’ plant life, climate, and location. The climate and physical features determine the boundaries of a biome. A biome is made up of many different ecosystems. The ecosystems tend to have the same pants and animals as neighboring biomes around the boundaries. The major biomes are the tundra, taiga, tropical rain forest, temperate forests, desert, grassland, savanna, chaparral, and marine. Each biome has it’s own characteristics such as the tundra.
