Physical Therapy, also known as physiotherapy, is a health profession that utilizes mechanical force, manual therapy, physical force, exercise, and electro/thermal therapy to promote bodily movement. This occupation is used to improve patience quality of life through the process of examination, diagnosis, and the act of physical therapy. Physical therapists provide care to all age groups from new born children to the elderly.
Physical Therapy first originated as early as 1813 by Per Henrik Ling “Father of Swedish Gymnastics.” He implemented massage, exercise, and manipulation to better enhance his athletes performance. Soon, other countries followed by forming schools …show more content…

Most requirements require a student in college to earn a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, or a degree that’s close in this related health field such as Kinesiology. When a student is complete with his bachelor's degree, all individuals must earn a doctoral degree in the field of physical therapy. Alongside months of volunteering, most students are required to earn multiple volunteer hours from typical licensed professionals such as clinics or hospitals. At the doctoral level, learning includes lab and classroom instruction in diagnosing, patient evaluation and examination, and medical screening. Trainees and students who wish to participate in extra work experience, are more apt to be lead to full time employment upon graduation. Upon graduation, students will receive a certification from The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). This certification offers eight fields of specialty. They check and see what clients they have scheduled for the afternoon and the goals each patient should achieve during their session. Upon arrival, most patients are usually evaluated on their current condition such as their pain level, area of pain, and how the treatments are helping the afflicted area. Once evaluated, the patients are ran through a series of exercises and stretches to help the area of pain or affliction. After a long day of treating patient after patient, the trainer gathers up his materials and clocks out.
