I read an article in Scholastic, about a teacher named Christopher Casal who a technology teacher for an Elementary school in Brooklyn that uses social media in his classroom and the kids are learning from it. Introduction: Mr. Nichols thanked everyone for attending. He explained why the subcommittee was developed; the goal is to have a workable plan ready for the fall. Everywhere you go and in everything you do, professionalism comes in to account in some way or another. Professionalism has been defined as, “a strict adherence to courtesy, honesty and responsibility when dealing with individuals or other companies in the business environment” (Clarke, 2015). When it comes to the career of nursing, professionalism is taken to a whole other level. Not only does professionalism come in to account with your business professionals and peers, but you have patients with whom professionalism is highly practiced as well. Physicians put trust into nurses in order to carry out orders that are needed to save patients’ lives. If you’re not looked at as professional and responsible, it is going to be very hard to have a successful career. Responsibility is what nursing is all about. Social media has become a huge part of our lives and the younger generation is becoming more involved with this new technology. However, the use of social media has been a great debate in classroom settings. School districts have been conflicted with the two options: to teach along and incorporate social media into the classroom or to restrict the use of social media during school hours.

Before starting this Introduction to Healthcare this quarter I actually thought professionalism was only about how you dressed yourself, but now I know that your attitude and the way that you conduct yourself plays an important part in professionalism as well. How you present your work is also a part of professionalism.

Professionalism is a (1) Theoretical knowledge on which practical or skill based activity rests, considering this, I applied my theoretical knowledge such as differentiate, individual needs into my practice. (2) Professionalism is formal, accredited qualification, providing grounding in theoretical knowledge; according to these, I am doing my assignments and voluntary teaching practice to obtain a certificate. (3) Licence to practice or some proof of occupational competence; according to this, I showed my Confirmation of Student Enrolment on Initial Teacher Training letter to my manager to get a voluntary teaching practice. (4) Professionalism is a code of professional conduct or practice; I follow my organisation’s rules and regulations such as health and safety rules, equality and diversity, time keeping, etc. (5) Professionalism is a professional body that represents the interests of practitioners and regulates their activity in some way, in my teaching practice their awarding bodies are Tinder Foundation, BBC Learning English and British Council. They regulate my organisation’s lesson plans and activities in some way and I follow them. (handouts, 2014)

Early 1970s students in Columbus, Ohio were causing destructions in schools; Central High School in Columbus, Ohio was one of the schools where students were disrupting class lectures and demonstration school property. This wrongdoing in Ohio allowed the school principal to suspend students with valid reasons for ten days as long as they notified the parents within 24-hours of suspension. If they were expelled students were given the opportunity to appeal, but it was not guaranteed that everyone would have that privilege.

Does social media really help students in school? Does it help with a student’s ability to learn? When a student is on social media in school, are they just being distracted? Social networking has become a very widespread thing to do, but since teachers are allowing it in school, students seem to be more distracted. Although social networking in school may make students more interactive with others, teachers should not allow it in school because it distracts students from classwork, gives students anxiety, and social media is filled with inappropriate pictures and language that could get students into trouble.
