Everyone has their own learning styles. Going to school online might not be cut out for a person that needs to be face to face with an instructor. Or a person that has to have on hands training might not want to attend an online campus. It’s a tough decision when you have to make this decision on how you want to continue with your education. An education is an education, so it’s better to have one than not to have one at all. So it all really boils down to you making that decision based on how you interpret your learning skills. Many students have a difficult time choosing between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is meant to inform prospective students looking to further their education of the pros and cons of both online education and traditional education. Taking the steps to further your education is a big decision and one that should not be taken lightly. One should weigh all of his/her options and be well informed and certain of their choice before taking that leap.

In-class courses can be expensive - mostly because the college has overhead to worry about. When you take a class online, you won't have to spend as much money and you still get a great degree. For instance, you could be taking a Rutgers online course and you could have your degree in as little as two years. Indeed, online courses aren't for the lazy - they are for the hungry to learn who are on a tight budget.

When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc.

Computer based learning, as it stands, has plenty of disadvantages, but many in business and educational arenas remain optimistic about its future. There are two indisputable truths about computer-based learning, or e-learning. First, it will revolutionize education and second, such a future is just around the block. Educational experts agree that most types of study are not yet effective when delivered purely online, mainly because of bandwidth limitations, expensive set-up costs, continued resistance to the medium and a shortage of quality course content.

Online schooling can be very convenient for students that have a job or family that is their number one commitment. Students can log into their course whenever the time is best for them instead of having a set time for a class every week (Bird). Some students find online education appealing since students can learn at their own pace. Online classes are much more inexpensive than traditional classes. Online degrees can cost up to 80 times less than traditional degrees. Traditional degrees average cost is around $85,000, while online degrees average cost is around $30,000 (“Online”). Online education does offer lots of options for students.

Online college courses are almost becoming traditional for students. Some may perceive that a student does not receive an equal education when taking an online class. People tend to think that if a teacher is not directly giving the information about the subject, the course learning experience is different or unjust. This assumption is wrong according to the perception of many online course takers. Online college courses offer students the advantage to learn on their own time. The skills that a student learns in self-discipline, scheduling to complete graded assignments, and advantages learned with technology gives online classes equal education experience compared to classes on campus.

With high speed internet available to potential students of all economic levels, schools are opting to implement online classes into their traditional teaching curriculum. As a result, our society is divided in two different ways of thinking on the education. Some believe the modern method is better than the traditional method of teaching. Personally, I believe both methods should balance one another instead of attempting to substitute one another; this way their purpose of educating will be far more successful.

In general there are benefits, and harms of online education. Online courses and programs can be very beneficial in some cases, however harmful to some in a long run . Yes online education can help individuals such as parents and low income to pursue a higher education without have to worry about finance and time. In the case of parenthood, parents have to stay home with their kids, and there is no other ways for them to continue a higher education beside the internet, and in this situation it is understandable. Also students with low income can not afford money to attend college and online courses are a good start for those individuals. However there are people who can financially afford for college, but prefer to take online classes, which would not give them the real life experience and the interaction between each other. Beside that online courses do not give a person to person interaction, there is also more work assigned to do then what a traditional classes gives. And responsibility tend to be higher as well, because no one will be reminding a student what to do and what is due which results in

The positive of online classes is being able to access the class in any free time. Most online classes though, require work to be turned in on certain days and times. Which makes it harder for students to remember when assignments need to be done. The pleasure of the instructor reading/lecturing the textbook material out loud won’t be there. It
