The PSYC 255 course at Liberty University is an introductory course that offers students a fundamental perceptive of different techniques used for research and investigation of data in the behavioral science field. The eight week course itinerary is filled with assignments that direct the student toward a path that is filled with collective psychological research approaches and design methods. It offers fundamental familiarity about the American Psychologist Association (herewith called APA) ethical and legal requirements. Plus it directs a student toward comparing the APA’s standard methods used for the research theory process versus bible standards. Lessons follow coaching in the relevance of a case study approach and the advantages and disadvantages. Then, a comparison study is done on qualitative and quantitative research technique and consideration. Upon course completion students are able to identify and understand the essentials of the research, method of preparation, overall written communications and technical considerations.

Some documents that can be obtained include letters, articles, newspapers and clerical records. Archival documents that are acquired include census records, survey records and name lists. Several physical artifacts can be collected for example, tools and objects. Lastly participant observation involves the researcher actually participating and observing in the study (Yin, 1994; Stake, 1995).
Before she started her own practice, she worked as a department investigative social worker for 29 years before she retired from that profession. Mahoney decided that she wanted to be a social worker because she had a big interest in counseling and helping children with family problems. She felt that she would make a difference in their lives if she became a social worker. The purpose of her private practice is to help people to their maximum potential. There are many issues that she comes in to contact everyday at her job that she discussed with me. Mahoney has to deal with clients that suffer from anxiety, depression, life transition, grief and loss, marital and family issues. She expresses
Thank you for sharing this story with us. Your client has a very sad story. Through your kind words, I can see that she is a strong individual who does not want to show any signs of weakness. However, she is putting on a brave face even though she is going through the darkest part of her life right now. Although it may seem like she will eventually get past this, recovery for athletes with eating disorder are highly unlikely. She will fall into a cycle of doing poorly in competitions which will cause more pressure, this pressure will lead to being more reliant on control of her intake of food. She needs everyone important in her life to gather for an intervention for her. However, by the looks of this case it seems she has very few people in
A team meeting was held at Lutz today with Scott, his parents, this counselor, his teacher Mrs. Shannon, Vice Principle Nick DeVault, acting Principle John Nader, and Transition Coordinator Joe Delegato. The meeting was set to discuss Scott's participation in the STEP program and what his family is looking for when it comes to his MRS case and employment. Scott's teacher feels that STEP isn't necessarily the right placement for him and wanted to discuss this with the team. Scott's parents stated, " we have always felt like Scott has never been in the right placement. He is either to low functioning or two high functioning for the program he is in. We agree that his options need to be explored." His teacher Mrs. Shannon then went on to explain that although Scott does quality work on his sites, is always friendly, and hard working, there are a lot of concerns that are holding him back in the program. Shannon stated, " Scott has trouble staying focused, requires a lot of reminders, wonders a lot, takes a long time to complete a task (2 times the amount needed), is unable to work fast paced or multi-task, can't typically be left alone, and communicates inappropriately at times. Shannon stated that his need for constant supervisor and inappropriate communication is her biggest concern. Shannon stated that Scott often sings My
Felicia Allen is a 32 year old woman, who was initially brought into therapy after an attempt to steal a bus. Due to her reported “emotionally disturbed” nature, this consult became a priority. The police report states that Ms. Allen pulled out a knife, and threatened the driver after the driver declined her dollar bills. She then took control of the bus, and crashed it across the street. Upon our meeting, Ms. Allen was fidgety, and swayed back and forth all the while mumbling to herself. If she were questioned, she would look up and say “Sorry, sorry.” As far as patient history goes, Ms. Allen started hearing voices when she was 5 years old. These auditory hallucinations were mostly composed of critical, disparaging voices that made comments on her actions and behaviors. Her severe symptoms led her to be hospitalized fairly consistently since she was 11. Ever since she was young, she has been driven to please, and has a strong desire to be independent. Felicia has been prescribed clozapine for 1 calendar year, which helped her auditory hallucinations a great deal. Given the above symptoms and information, I have diagnosed Felicia Allen with schizophrenia.
Thank you for sending James back to see me some 3.5 year since his last appointment. During that time, James has continued to experience unrefreshing sleep with some daytime somnolence. He is typically sleeping seven hours per night with no significant sleep onset or maintenance insomnia. Snoring has perhaps become more prominent of late. Of note, when James was working in Tasmania and exercising regularly, his symptoms were less noticeable with his weight dropping down to around 80kg. With his weight increasing to 90kg, the symptoms have increased.
There are some limitations to the use of UCR data is the fact that crimes that aren’t reported to the police are not taken into consideration. This is commonly known as the “dark figure of crime”. Another limitation that the data contains is the hierarchy rule which takes place when an incident that contains multiple offenses labels the most serious crime and is tallied only once. For example, if a crime involving motor vehicle theft and murder were committed in one incident then only motor vehicle theft would be reported. Regardless, three strikes laws should be shown affecting the rates of crimes that are reported. The UCR has been in place for over 70 years allowing us to extend previous research dating from 1980 to 2010. Drawing data from the interrupted time series design can be done by considering the average rates of crime before and after the implementation of three strikes laws and comparing them. Benefits of using this method allows certain variables within the state to affect both of the groups being compared. Maturation could be a potential variable that would affect the outcome of the results. Creating a previous trend of crime from the pretest group allows us to control

Fry Brothers heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. employs Larry Clark and George Murnen to make service calls to repair furnaces and air conditioning units in homes. Tom Fry, the owner, would like to know whether there is a difference in the mean number of service calls they make per day. Assume the population standard deviation for Larry Clark is 1.05 calls per day and 1.23 calls per day for George Murnen. A random sample of 40 days last year showed that Larry Clark made an average of
My experiences upon completing PSY7620 was a combination of positive and negative. To begin with, I have never been good at grasping mathematical concepts. My positive experiences was that I did receive a 100% on one of my assignments but on the other hand, terribly failed another assignment. It was a positive experience to know that I can understand some concepts of statistics. The anxiety of math has not changed over the course of the class, as I still struggled quite a bit with applying the concepts. I was able to clearly express all concepts in our discussions, but the applying of concepts just doesn’t go with the way my mind works. I will never see math as one of my strong points, hence why I am in a field of social work that does
I had a conflict with ECON 423 and PSYC 312 being offered on the same day and time, so I opt to take ECON 151 but met upon restriction difficulties. Based on those issues and advise from Dr. Twombly, I have decided to take a political science course instead.
Reviewing progress notes from the prior clinician, Psychiatrist, and nursing staff, Jennifer has told similar, yet different, stories about where she was born and had lived in the past. These differing stories may be a result of her borderline personality disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, or could be related to future memory concerns. The client had also missed multiple sessions in 2013 and had been faithfully attending our sessions this year until recently. She has missed the past two sessions with me. Upon making phone calls to her registered number, the client did not answer and has yet to call Hamilton Center to check in. Other factors that may affect future counseling may involve her level of commitment once the client explores deeper issues in her traumatic experiences or begins to work through other uncomfortable situations.
