The film The Pursuit of Happyness is a biography based on the life of Chris Gardner, who is played by the actor Will Smith. Will Smith portrays a hardworking father who is struggling to sale bone-density scanners to the local hospitals, while trying to make ends meet for his family. After his wife leaves, he is left to raise his 5-year-old son Christopher alone. Making it clear to those around him, it is obvious that he is among the working poor class and cannot meet the basic human needs (absolute), he can barely pay bills to keep his home, can hardly provide food, and has a rough time being able to keep his son in daycare. Jay proceed to tell Chris several times that he was not capable of completing the cube until Chris handed it back to him leaving Jay speechless. That particular scene demonstrated why people should not judge a book by its cover. During the entire film Dean Witter could not stress enough the importance of how tough the process would be in order to work for his company, even if someone got a perfect score on the exam their chances of being hired was still very slim. Chris exceeds those expectations and is later given the job. The film The Pursuit of Happyness told a story of a true American Hero. Chris Gardner should be an inspiration to those who have been faced with the same situations. All those sleepless nights trying to think of ways to make money, then moving from one homeless shelter to the next, and having to face his son everyday hoping that one day he would understand, is something no one in our society should have to go through in order to live in a world that is based off power and greed.
