Individual Reflection Teamwork is the joint action by a group to complete a given task. This was displayed by group 20 as each member contributed their individual knowledge and skills towards the team as well as the course objective. Contribution to Meetings This past year, I really worked on improving my teamwork skills. In order for our team to be successful, each member including myself had to contribute to the team meetings. I contributed to team meetings in a number of ways. Firstly, the scheduling of meetings was done by me. This included finding times which suited each and every member and then notifying them of the meeting's time and location. Once an ideal date and time were agreed upon, a meeting location was selected. On most occasions, meetings were held in the John Moffat Library. This point may however differ from …show more content…
I would co-operate with others in building and exploring ideas and practices. Similarly generating my own ideas and presenting it to the group in a clear and audible voice. Finally, I would give feedback to the leader and other members on the value and progress of the meeting. Providing feedback was not done consistently. Therefore consistency is an aspect I’d like to improve and work on for the future. Preparedness for team meetings I have always come prepared to a meeting. I would determine the purpose and objective of the meeting in advance thus eliminating time wastage. In order to contribute to the team discussion, I would always prepare by having a basic understanding of the topic at hand. Attendance of team sessions I was present during all meetings which were collectively held by the group. I am a professional therefore punctuality is of utmost importance to me. I would always arrive a few minutes before the commencement of the meeting. However, on one occasion I arrived a minute into the
Teamwork is a group of people who work together toward a specific goal regardless of personal feelings toward one another. A team will use their individual skills and provide constructive feedback to each other.
To further understand Belbin Team Role Theory, I, together with four students formed a team and simulated as being authorized by the Songjiang Government Bureau to investigate into the current situation and the prospect of the higher education industry in Songjiang District. Through unremitting team efforts, we successfully demonstrated our findings and recommended several ideas via a formal presentation. Reviewing the three-months-long process of cooperation, I really found this experience of learning meaningful and fruitful. This reflective essay is a conclusion of my sympathetic introspection of the
Regular meetings with regards to roles and aims of the team are a very important part of the process of working as a team. The meetings enable the team to prioritise ways of working together, it enables the team to reflect on progress to date and to set new goals and identify other ways of getting the best out of being a team.
A team is something more than a collection of individuals. Teamwork is a group of people working together to achieve the same goal. The whole is more than a sum of the parts. A team can be identified by evidence of some or all of the following:
In the environment today, it is not unusual to see people working in teams to accomplish certain goals and tasks. During our youth, parents and teachers encourage us through various methods to work as part of a team. Whether a sports team, classroom team, or after school activities, parents and teachers and other authority figures start the introduction of working in teams and teaching the value of being able to work together to accomplish a common goal. As people progress through the various stages of their lives, everyone continues to strive to communicate. Communication is a part of everyday life. It may be overlooked in some areas, but when dealing with a team environment, communication is vital. One
Meetings can be used in different ways and can have different agenda’s to others. They can be used to inform, seek ideas, clarification, resolve problems, discuss proposals, settle disputes and take decisions.
c) Why would you take along a spare set of meeting documents to the meeting?
Tuesday November 21st, 2012 was a clear cold day, as I was walking into the judicial complex of Crawford County. I did not have to go to the judicial complex, but it was my choice. It was my choice to go that very day and speak on my behalf of 4H. I was feeling as if the county was taking 4H away. A door was opened for me to have the new opportunity of Public Speaking.
We can be inclusive by allowing others to speak, but we have to be prepared to make decisions or answer unexpected questions from audience members. We cannot always assume everyone will be on board. They could have different opinions or beliefs. It is best to know the background of your topic before going in the room. Also, it is really important to approach this with your audience in mind. Never leave the room with assignments or tasks lingering. It is best to prepare an action plan. As a wrap-up, summarize the main points and follow-up on tasks before the next meeting. This event was beneficial because we need to know when to call a meeting. For example, as a Tech student we can call meetings for group projects, RSO meetings, and committee meetings. As a Park and Recreation major, it will allow me to lead different types of meetings such as staff meetings, committee meetings, 1:1 meetings, collaboration meetings, or proposal meetings.
Overview a meeting that you recently attended. Did it have an agenda? Were responsibilities assigned during the meeting? Did it stay on time? Were highlights of the meeting published after the meeting? How do you think this meeting could have been improved? This past week I actually had to attend a meeting at work about our upcoming annual review process. It was very interesting that our meeting was conducted in the very same week as this homework assignment was given to the class. The meeting was very unproductive and the main reasoning for the lack of productivity was the inability of the trainer to follow the company given agenda. The company provided an agenda for the meeting that was given to all of the participants in the meeting but the instructor did not stick to the agenda. Roles and responsibilities were not assigned during the meeting which led to a power struggle between the instructor and some of the students that felt like they were more knowledgeable than the teacher. Also, because the instructor did not follow the agenda the meeting did not end on time. In addition, highlights of the meeting were not published after the meeting. I think the meeting would have been more effective if the presenter followed the company given agenda which would have allowed her to cover key points and stay on track. Also, if she would have sent out a recap after the meeting attendees would have had some information to reference post
I will observe the preparation of my manger before the meetings and watch her interactions with the others in the meetings. I will take notes of the way people address each other, their body language, and what materials they bring to the meetings. I will be watching for any particular members who dominate the meetings and how the others react to that domination. I will also take note of the ones who do not have much input and watch how the others interact with them. I will be looking for professionalism with everyone involved by verbal and non-ques. I will take not of how information is presented and if it is brief and to the point or if there is a lot of detail included. I will also be listening to the actual content of the meetings and pick up any information I am not familiar with. I will pay special attention to staffing plans and any budget discussions involved in these meetings as they will be of importance when I move into a management role and I hope to learn valuable information that I will take with me throughout my career. I will write all of my observations on paper to reflect on after
In this essay I am going to reflect on my experience working as part of a team and the preparation on an oral presentation I had to do in class with people from different courses, as part of the Foundations for Practice in Health and Social Care module. Reflection is educational and is used as a means of self-knowledge and to develop using a process of feeling and learning by thinking about what happened and what could have been done differently. (Rolfe, 2011, p.8-12) I will be using the Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle to do this. In this model there are 6 different stages to look at to help structure reflection, the description of the event, your feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan. There is more than one model
When I have to work in a team, I try to reach success with others participants in assigned activities. I do not take the role of leader or follower. I consider myself just another participator, but always thinking about doing everything right and clean. I have always had in mind that teamwork are all those actions and activities that are carried out collectively. In order for there to be an excellent group work, I think is necessary is that the actions are developed collectively. This means that to carry out group work, the existence of an entertainer or coordination is not necessary. The collective performance of an action is sufficient, within the framework of mutual interaction.
The things I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a point of time I was kind of second guessing another idea. I feel that you have to have trust in your group member to make it effective.
Teamwork is the backbone of effective communication and the crucial cog that keeps the wheel of successful project management turning. The role of teamwork in enhancing problem solving skills, cohesion, learning, and productivity can no longer be ignored. Proper teamwork plays an integral role in promoting the effective implementation and fulfillment of shared goals in a team project in a manner that is better and quicker. Team work also provides a solid platform on which team members can take on different responsibilities and contribute in ways that together makes the entire team an effective unit.
