2. Work Experience
2.1 Nature of Work
The fact that eMCM team is such a small team means that I got a lot of responsibility. For most of the time, it was only myself maintaining the program. The one major responsibility I had was to get their program, “the Tool”, to a point where they were able to release it to their clients.
“The Tool” is a Windows Desktop application written in Delphi and C++ Builder. The application is heavily based on forms, which are written in Delphi. The logic in each form field is written in C++.
As a junior programmer analyst, I was expected to perform analysis, programming, configuration, maintenance and support of the application. In the meantime, I also need to communicate with clients and co-work for support and help.
2.2 Experience
Before I first started on the job, the person who maintained the program for years just retired, so I had to teach myself all the way through when I arrived. Therefore, I started my job with reading source codes, playing around with the program, and reading manuals and any documentations available to me.
After I got familiar with the program, I was asked to test the program and look for any defects in the current version. The next task followed was to fix any defects I’ve found. This helped me to really get to know the code, and understand how the program functions. Due to the variety of technologies used in the program, I was also asked to work with SQL by upgrading databases from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012.
First Year Seminar is a beneficial, getting started-like course provided by West Coast University during the first term of the program. Since the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is very rigorous this course is helpful in adjusting new students, such as myself, to a very demanding, fast-pace program. This class focuses on topics that help students organize and understand oneself and the mission of WCU mission to achieve the greatest success as a student. In my Signature Assignment term paper I will focus on my experience with FYS and what information I’ve gained to help me understand my learning style, strengths and weaknesses I have as a student, how working collaboratively benefits me and how I will go about achieving success at WCU.
Course Description This course provides students with a basic understanding of programming practices. Concepts covered include flowcharting, pseudocode methodologies, and an understanding of programming practices. Students will learn how these concepts, when properly applied, improve program design. Policies Faculty and students/learners will be held responsible for understanding and adhering to all policies contained within the following two documents: • • University policies: You
This specific piece of work is some of my best work because of all the collaboration it took my partner and I. This was a very big assignment for us and since it was partner work we had to work together to get it all done. Everything went smoothly when doing our work and we thought everything through. We split everything up evenly, worked out anything we struggled with together, and the end result was everything we could have hoped for. It was very tedious work, but with lots of help that we provided each other we were able to do some of the best work both of us have ever done. Also, our thought process seemed to always be on the same page for the most part which contributed to us being able to work well together. Finally, the project was not only fun, but took a lot of effort. I put a lot of effort into it and so did my partner, but going through eat and every section and part was still enjoyable. It was interesting to see everything put together nicely and being well driven really contributed to the outcome on my part.

The business analyst is the role I would like to play upon graduation. The business analyst acts as an essential interface between business and IT: it has not only the skills related to project management but also the ability to understand the needs of businesses to formalize analyzed as closely as possible the specifications or specifications. It identifies, analyzes, validates and documents the business needs of the organization and participates in the implementation of solutions. These solutions are based on the business requirements, organizational and operational organization. They can lead to changes in the organization or process optimization often using means related to information and communications technology.
Before I entered the Freshman Inquiry, Work of Art, I had no idea what to expect. My assumptions were that the class is what its name is, a course that primarily focuses on the studies and works of art while providing a platform for freshman students to help their transition in college. Though I had some accuracy in my expectations, the class went above and beyond, which made my learning experience as a student and as an individual more impactful. It covered topics that related to all of the University Study goals and provided outlets for me to utilize around campus.

For this internship experience, I spent over eight hours preparing for the beginning of the school year. I worked closely with the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development (my mentor), the Director of Facilities, the Head Custodian, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Technology. This experience mainly focused on ECLL Standard 3.1 with overlap of standard 3.5 because the main activities in which I was involved was the preparation for the two staff-only days that kickoff the school year.
For the dates 17th - 21st July I had the opportunity to attend a Catholic Primary School; St Charles Borromeo; where I accompanied a grade 1/2 class. Working with both the teachers and students I was able to attain an insight about the daily duties of a teacher both during class as well as during their breaks throughout the day. I was able to help the students undertake certain tasks for example reading, writing, maths as well as a range of many others. I also witnessed their classes outside of the classroom such as art, sport, Italian and library. Overall I was able to undertake the position of a teacher in the sense of helping the kids during the tasks they were assigned to, excluding the initial explanation of a topic and leading of a class.
This semester has been a semester where I had to start being more honest with myself in my personal life as well as all aspects of my life. I am not someone to go looking for people to help me whenever I have a problem or if I am struggling. That's just how I have always been. I figure people have their own problems so why bother them with my own. One problem that I have struggled with, especially lately is truly loving myself. This is an area of my life where I never really been super good at. Ever since I was a kid I would always compare myself to others around me and wonder why I wasn't as good looking or as talented as they are. This has carried over into my adult life where I see people who are making more money than me, or are already married, or just seem like they got their life together more than I do.
In this session, we discussed your feelings of helplessness and depression which stem from the recent loss of your husband. You have stated how you do not wish to go out of the house but believe it is good for you and how going out with friends does make you feel better; however, you rarely want to. I liked your idea of going out of the house outside of work once a week. Also, you believe exercise keeps you motivated and want to work out at least 15 minutes a day. Finally, talking to your mother-in-law and sharing feelings with her would help you know there are people that emphasize with you is a step you would feel would be beneficial. Our overall goal for these actions is for your negative feelings to lessen. Does it sound reasonable to have you complete one of these actions this week?
Comments: I adhere to my work schedule by arriving on time and following my lunch and break schedules. I have notes from doctors for all sick time that I have taken. Any unplanned absences are rare and leave that I take is done so with consideration of my caseload and the caseload of others in the unit, (i.e. I never request leave on days that I have group or court). When I was covering the worklist of a vacant caseload, I did not take any leave time or have any absences.
The Cameron/Willacy County Treatment Center is a facility that focuses on rehabilitating low risk offenders back into society. They receive residents that have an alcohol and/or drug problem and help them fight their addiction trough intensive phases including; counseling, fatherhood, diplomas, and nutrition courses. When I first got information of the facility I was very intrigued and decided to introduce myself personally to get more insight. I met with the facility director, Mr. Ruvalcaba and he gave me a personal tour and information on how they ran the facility. Right there and then, I said to myself that I wanted to complete my internship hours with them. Once all the paperwork was submitted, I started my internship with hope to learn as much as I could on how the real world would be.
The person that I talked to for this paper was my grandfather, Richard Davidson. I wanted to talk to him because I didn’t know much about his past, and knew that he has strong opinions about how the world has changed. I also wanted to talk to him because I was interested in seeing how much I could relate what I have experienced to what a family member of mine has experienced. I talked to him for about an hour in person over break. The main thing that we talked about was how he grew up going through World War II, and how much the world changed specifically during that time. During this part of our conversation, he described how they were always listening to the radio and reading magazines and newspapers to keep up with the war’s progress. He also told me that he “had blackouts every night and black shades in case the Germans bombed Boston, and that we captured/sank 2 German U-boat submarines off Cape Cod. I saw flights of American bombers going over my back yard everyday”. This was an interesting quote to me as it let me see a bit into the life of someone living through World War II and I could almost feel the fear that they must have lived with going through such a scary event. We talked about how aircrafts going to Europe were flown by female pilots so that the men could fight in the war. One thing that he emphasized was his belief that without WWII society would’ve developed more slowly as it brought about many technical and societal innovations such as radar,
After just beginning a new position within the company I was asked to attend the Top Gun program. My initial thought was, “this is going to be overwhelming”. It has been an honor and a learning experience being placed into such a prestige program. I was very impressed with the first session we received in Greensboro. The instructors delivered content that was certainly relevant to the way a leader is received. The data that was collected from myself, direct reports and peers appeared to be extremely accurate to the way I was carrying myself. The data provided reports that relayed strengths, as well as weaknesses. The literature provided was to improve on both our strengths and weaknesses. We were also provided a coach who broke down the information and delivered feedback on the reports in a one on one setting. The coaches studied the data and also provided ways to improve. Along with helping us understand all the data. The information I received on the way I was providing leadership made me think about how I needed to try and change the way I was leading. The peer feedback were people from work giving their perception and also made me think about the way I was perceived by my peers away from work as well. Receiving the feedback from them and the way that Rich Clemson and their staff presented it reflected a personality that I felt had improved from the last time I had taken a similar evaluation. We were presented with several areas that need improvement and a systematic
