Have you ever seen those adorable animated commercial that are played often in the movie theater before the movie starts. I remember liking those commercials and considering them pretty adorable. Although as I turned older, I realized that these simple animated cartoons shared important concepts that you can put into your life. One of the concepts portrayed in the cartoon was teamwork. The cartoons tended to show that if you don’t work together, something will go very wrong. In real life I find that this is reasonably true. Teamwork is important to accomplish something; the only issue is that if you don’t use teamwork, something noticeably upsetting or wrong doesn’t always happen like it portrays in the animate cartoons. Like the teamwork it portrayed in those cartoons, I learned that while during my service. Among other communication qualities I learned teamwork. Other concepts of communication that we, as a group, identified while doing our service project include different types of communication, different personalities, and gender roles. I will talk about the types of communication first, then teamwork, personality will be next, and lastly gender roles. Those aren’t the only concepts of communication, however we just decided to focus on those ones.
Over time humanity itself has come to the realization that understanding others is important. One person alone is nothing compared to the work of a whole team. An essential thing that has been taught in schools today are the values that trust, respect, and honesty can do to help others. Of course, not everyone has the same viewpoints on most subject matter, but empathy can guide a person to understand other people’s mentalities. Likewise, collaboration has a similar purpose of directing someone towards working well with others. Together, empathy and collaboration help in the creation of trust between others, which allows people to become successful collaborators and encourages healthier relationships.
