I would like the potential opportunity to earn a S.T.E.M. Certificate because I feel that the skills you learn or opportunities you receive from S.T.E.M. help get ahead of everybody else. I feel that the skills learned from S.T.E.M. help you get ahead because you learn how to do certain things that you cannot learn in class such as writing an resume. Writing a resume I believe is a big deal because it is the first impression you make with a college or an employer. If you know what to put on a resume and how to format the resume it makes a very good first impression with the college or employer you are sending this resume to. Making a first impression is huge because if you stay on the list the entire time then you are accepted to the university or you get the job with the employer. Another skill that I think …show more content…
has I believe are great opportunities that you cannot get just being in regular classes. The one opportunity that is fantastic is how you learn all about the work place. I think this is great because if you have an understanding of the work place and what all the equipment does then you are already ahead of your peers. Being ahead of your peers and taking initiative can really help you impress your employer. The other opportunity I think is great is the job shadowing. I believes this is a fantastic opportunity because you can really see what the job you want is like. Seeing what the job is actually like I think is very good because now you know what happens on a day to day basis and you can find out all the little things that the person does throughout the day. Another way this can help you is you can learn the right major to take in college and learn good classes to take while at college which will help you in that profession. Also you can find out if that profession is right for you maybe after shadowing that person you realize that you do not want to do that profession because you did not realize parts about
Work experience will build and increase confidence level, make you learn how to meet deadlines, pressure managing ability, the most important ones are people management, and time management. These will have an impact on you.
As an aspiring scientist and doctor, I feel that TAMS would be beneficial not only in accelerating the completion of my required school, but also to allow me an experience like no other with peers that have similar goals. What I hope to gain more than anything else is an environment that is more mature and serious than high school. I feel as if the other students in the program and the program's nature it would allow me to become more self-sufficient and give me connections that will prove useful. Research opportunities are also very enticing to me because of my school's lack of hands-on science programs and my growing passion for biochemistry I find myself dreaming of being able to conduct experiments of my own. The students that I would be
An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.
This opportunity will also give me an idea of what college life will be like. I plan on going to a Community College then a University after high school, however in order to do that I will need a part time job to pay for things such as food, books, and school supplies. I will be able to learn how to juggle
Students receive on-the-job experience prior to graduation, and the internship assists them in obtaining permanent employment. Facilities benefit from the opportunity to participate in and improve the formal education process. Quite often, students who complete professional practice experiences are later employed by the facility at which they completed the internship.
For years, I have always wanted to be either a nurse or a doctor and being in Health Science One and Health Science Foundations has brought me to learn new things over time about the body and its functions, medical terminology, and getting certifications for different things in healthcare. Having the opportunity to be in the CMAA class would teach me everything I need to know if I were to work in healthcare in an office setting. I am great with people and working hands on in a doctors office will give me a full view on what it’s like in the real world.
I also worked at a Hospital, where I assisted Staff Nurses in handling patients and provided appropriate pain relief and other medications. My experience working in the Hospital also taught me how to work well in team with other professionals. Furthermore, working as Administrative assistant not only helped me attain Customer service skills, but also taught
During high school and early college, I was employed at a Bar and Grill as a waitress. I was taught information about the business and communicated with vendors to do ordering. In some cases I would open and run the entire restaurant on my own for the first few hours of the day, which included both waitressing and cooking. Working as a waitress, I became skilled at doing many things simultaneously and learned how to make conversation with a variety of people. This job helped me understand good customer service and the importance of friendliness and attitude with not only customers but also other team members.
Finally, students can gain experience by working throughout high school. This brings them opportunity to learn how to budget their money, which is a vital part of being independent. Students can gain more experiences and polish their skills while working. These skills can help them in future in finding perfect job for them. For example, if you enjoy teaching, working part-time as a tutor may help you improve your teaching skills and gain experiences.
Through this experience, I adopted good communication skills as children will never hear “no” so I was required to use a warm and patient nature to get through to them. Volunteering at a nursing home led insight into working with the elderly- some residents who do not get visitors, they appreciated young members of society conversing with them. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a work placement at a local optician where I sat in on opticians performing eye tests and lens fittings. I worked at reception, directed customers to their appointments, and interacted with members of the practice. This experience has enhanced my time management skills as I had to complete coursework before deadlines and be punctual to work.
The math section would be beneficial because of the making of ratios for products, and how to do/make profit for a company I would be working with in the near future. In the science section, it can help me understand how to balance out chemical equations to make a better formula of a skincare or makeup product. I’d take this opportunity this year to go to EMSA to have a good representation on my future college resume and to take the experience with some of my fellow classmates that are also coming along with me.
Apart from that, it would also enhance my scope of getting accepted to a good school for the Masters Degree. In my opinion I have met all of my objectives and I now have a new perspective on life.
I feel as though the experience you have during your work placement will be different for everybody. Depending on what you have chosen for your placement, the tasks you are able to do may be limited. This is simply because we haven’t had the education and training for said career just yet. For myself, my placement is in the career path that I want to be on in the future. This career take many years of schooling. My main focus for what I would be learning during my work placement was if this was something I truly wanted to do for the rest of my life before I spend the time and money on more schooling. You may think that it is exactly what you want to be when you grow up, but you could come to realize that it is the complete opposite once you
Pursuing jobs that match the skills you enjoy using will more ensure you like your new position. Most skills can be applied in multiple tasks. For example, I taught school, did management training for a corporation, consulted with a retail chain designing a Human Resource Department, and provided seminars for the public. Basically, all required very similar skills. One of my students used the same skills working as a dental assistant as she did selling jewelry. She was able to show a potential employer how her persuasion of others was a required strength in both prior jobs and how his opening would let her to do what she enjoyed most.
I thought that all I was going to learn was the trade. Oh, how wrong could I have been! I have learned countless lessons as well as the value of an honest days work. I guarantee that it will never cease to surprise you what a job that will teach you especially for a young person. This has helped me completely turn my
