The first piece of advice that I believe will be the most helpful is to turn in your paperwork on time, or have it done early if possible. Make sure that you get it turned in on time to get the maximum number of points. And also make sure that you have a separate folder and notebook for EVERY class. I have found this to be most helpful. As an incoming EOF (Educational Opportunity Found) freshmen attending Rutgers University this fall, I had the mindset that if I did well academically, the transition from high school to college would go by smoothly. Unfortunately, college isn 't that simple. The transition to college is much more complex than people perceive it to be, in my case, it’s the most difficult obstacle I’ve ever encountered. Therefore, my aspiration is to conquer this transitional period as quickly and fluently as possible. When I had to changeover from middle school to high school, I was terrified. I didn 't know what awaited me and how much different things were going to be. It turned out high school was exactly the same, with the exception of the grades being ninth through Twelfth. There was nothing to be worried about. On the other hand, that wouldn 't be the case in college.

Sometimes our parents have no time to help us because they have their jobs. Then if we can’t get any help it’s going to be either a late grade or an F because we can’t get a good grade without a complete assignment. Our parents could also have a goodnight sleep without having to worry about us failing their classes because of homework. Teachers will also gain out of no homework because they don’t have to deal with grading messy handwriting and awful grammar. They don’t have to stay up however long it takes just to grade all the papers their students. It’s especially hard for middle school teachers and up because there are so many kids and so many different classes. Teachers can go anywhere they want if their lesson plan is finished for the next day if there is no homework. They won’t have to deal with angry kids, teens and yelling at them if they’re failing school because of homework. Homework is keeping everyone up.

Gary Colombo, Robert Cullen, and Bonnie Lisle in their book “Rereading America” feel that commencing college is a very disturbing experience. So many things we have to deal while starting college, but the major challenges are expanded difficulty levels and higher expectation which we are not familiar over the years of high school. In order to solve this issue, we have to remodel ourselves by taking up the challenge and rethink about our strength and flaws. To succeed in college we need to be mentally strong and dedicated towards our goal.

First and foremost, you did it! You survived all crammed hallways, the cliques, and all the times you thought your parents were controlling you way too much. As this new chapter opens you will soon realize that your parents were always right and you really do need to not procrastinate and should balance your school and social life. College truly is the best four years of your life, but there are a few things you must always keep in the back of your mind.

When starting middle school, many students are not prepared. This can lead to many things, but mostly negative impacts on their academics. The first way to survive middle school is to be prepared. The first thing in being prepared is to have the necessary materials for school. If students want to do well, then they must have all of the following materials. The most important materials are pencils. Students should not bring only one pencil because they do not know if anything will happen to it. Students should always have at least three sharpened pencils and at least one eraser. Make sure that if people ask to borrow a pencil, students have a pencil for them to use and also, that the borrower returns it. Another important material students should have is paper. In today's society colleges take the easy route in order to make it easier on themselves when in reality they are hurting the students and in doing so damaging the work force at the same time. Colleges set the students up for failure in numerous ways. From finically, socially, and not properly preparing them for the real world. Colleges are solely responsible for these problems and it is up to them to fix it. The statistics and facts are their to prove these beliefs and it's about time changes are made to protect and aid the students.

Nobody likes the act of doing homework, I hate it, specially because all of my classes give me homework, but I still do it because I know it's important, after I do it I feel accomplished. It's important to do homework everyday because homework can help you become a better student in several different ways. Homework gives you valuable practice with what you’ve learned in the classroom. The transition from high school to college is not only an exciting and challenging time, but also a great milestone in one’s life. There are several differences between the lives of high school and college students. Some individuals will be able to jump right in and adjust to this change seamlessly, while others may take years to adapt, or never even grab hold of the whole college experience at all. Bill Bennett stated of higher education, “ The higher amount you put into higher education, at the federal level particularly, the more the price of high education will rise. It’s the dog that never catches its tail.” Bennett asserts that while the prices of education are rising, they are not going to start falling as a result of, the amount the government puts in (Bennett). The average student leaves college with an average of $35,000 of debt. With this debt, students have to put off major life decisions such as starting a family or buying a house for the reason that the debt they have accumulated from their college years. Parent’s advocacy, perceptive, and smart money planning in earlier years, students could overcome the amount of college debt.

Throughout my last four years of high school, teachers, counselors, and other staff have been preparing me for my next steps. There have been countless ways that I have been aided to get me ready for college but there has been two things that have gone above and beyond to help me. One of the biggest is the availability to take college courses offered through Iowa Western Community College. Being able to classes at the Tucker Center:College and Career Center and take CE courses at Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson has taught me a series of valuable skills. Teachers such as Mrs. Smith and Mr. Loots have taught about syllabus and the importance of deadlines. While also taking these classes, I’ve been shown how to find reliable sources and weeding

First of all, homework causes material being taught in class the next day to have greater relevance and is easier to understand. Students who don’t do their homework tend to not understand the material being taught the next day as described in the article, “Why Homework Matters: Top Five (5) Reasons You Probably Should Do Your Homework” by Michael Bromley. According to the article, “If you don’t do your homework, you will most often not know what the teacher is doing in class the next day. (Bromley 2)” If you did do your homework, you would better understand the material being taught the next day. If you don’t do your homework, would fall behind the students who did do their homework. Also, you would have an extremely difficult time catching

Many students in school struggle to complete piles of homework assigned to them each night. Some wonder if homework is really critical to learning, and many wish homework wouldn’t exist at all. These people argue that homework is overwhelming and it takes away most of their free time at home and is just “busy work”. While some people may feel this way, I personally believe that homework is a key point of learning because it teaches time management and helps solidify what was learned during the day.
