I am writing to you about the Sophomore Diversity Leadership Internship. After attending an information session on the program, I decided that the SDLI program would provide me with the experience needed to pursue my intended career goals. After my undergraduate career, I want to join a consulting firm. I am interested in consulting because of the many opportunities that it provides for growth. Being able to tackle the problems of leading companies offers one a challenge, but also a learning experience that is unique to each case. The opportunity to work along executives in a diverse set of industries can provide insight on how these different firms and executives operate. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I believe that these experiences can provide the right tools and environment to learn and foster …show more content…
This past summer I interned at Community Empowerment Solutions where I worked as a consultant for entrepreneurs in Ecuador. During this internship, I managed a team of interns solving problems facing entrepreneurs which included: looking for funding, improving customer support, and refining marketing campaigns. I lead my team to create efficient solutions to these problems while taking into consideration obstacles like limited internet connection, illiteracy, low-income, cultural and language barriers. Inspired by the impact students could make in Latin America, a group of interns and I formed Pakta Consulting; a pro-bon consulting group that seeks to match college students to Latin American entrepreneurs. In Pakta, I also manage a team of consultants to solve problems that entrepreneurs bring to us. In conjunction with this, I serve as Vice President where I manage Pakta’s growth, overlook other teams, and recruit both consultants and clients. These experiences have prepared me for an internship with McKinsey where I hope to continue to grow and
For this paper I chose to interview Gio Rodriguez. He is different from me because he is of Latino decent, was born in Mexico, and is a first generation college student. I also chose Gio because I have gotten to know him over the months of being here so far, and consider him a pretty good friend.
As we enter the new millenium, diversity in the workforce is rapidly increasing. Businesses and organizations are living up to the great melting pot image the United States has always been popular for. Employees now reflect a diversity of cultural perspectives, ethnic backgrounds, ages, genders, physical abilities, and levels of education. This wave of multiculturalism is here to stay and cannot be ignored. It is in need of attention in order to uphold the well-being and success of businesses and organizations all over the country.
When America was founded, it was established on freedom and equality for all people. At first it was just religious freedom, but eventually freedom of speech, press, petition, and more. In time, America began to be known as a “melting pot” of cultures as more and more people came because they wanted this freedom; the more people who came though, the more problems America had. There were too many cultural discrepancies between people, and ultimately America, the country based on freedom and equality, faced challenges concerning diversity.
Throughout my undergraduate career at the University of South Carolina, I continually found myself drawn to internship opportunities
From Hollywood to the the social sector, diversity, rather the lack thereof, has been a topic of conversation. Although many organizations have begun to advocate for diversity, more work must be done. Across the social sector, women and people of color remain severely underrepresented in leadership positions. Organizations must become intentional about creating a diverse workforce and implementing inclusive policies that foster positive work environments. When employees feel represented and included they are happier and more likely to contribute to fulfilling the organization's mission.
I am writing to express my interest in obtaining the Summer Intern position with LSAC Diversity Initiatives. Currently, I am a full-time 2L attending Drexel University, Thomas Kline School of Law. Women have had a rough way to go for many years when it comes to equality. They face many negative things in today’s society and that is the way it has been for many years. History shows that women have been fighting for equality for decades, because many people believe they just can’t do the things that men can. There’s a website that has been helping women fight for that equality since 1966. That website is www.now.org. Before then women never really had any help. They had to rely on each other to show everyone what they could really do. Women have fought to try and end discrimination when it comes to jobs and economic justice. So the status of women throughout history has changed,

They break tie votes in the Senate. They become president if the president dies or resigns. They are a key advisor for the President. They are the Vice President of the United States. The role of the modern vice president is incredibly important for American political stability. This paper examines the evolving role of the vice president and how the vice president is selected since 1940—the year President Franklin D. Roosevelt insisted his vice president be Henry Wallace. This paper examines two types of diversity in selection, regional and gender and ethnicity. My research finds a strong trend for vice presidential selections to be regionally diverse. However, diversity in gender and ethnicity is rare with only three examples, Geraldine Ferraro,
As a junior at Bentley University, I am pursuing a double degree in Managerial-Economics (with a concentration in Information Technology) and Global Perspectives. In addition, I am undertaking a minor in Spanish for Business. I want to express my interest in the Risk Advisory Intern position with Grant Thornton LLP (Grant Thornton). I am especially fascinated by Grant Thornton’s dedication to the non-profit community. By upholding its commitment to sustainable business practices, partnering with Impact 2030, and promoting the GTUnited Volunteer program, Grant Thornton has surpassed its social footprint. I would be honored to join Grant Thornton’s mission in creating a meaningful impact.
I am keenly interested in the Social Responsibility and Policy/Government Affairs internships because I hope to pursue a career in which I have the opportunity to help others through community support and/or policy. As a junior at Dartmouth College, my liberal arts education with concentrations on government and anthropology has taught me the importance of community-based organizations in a healthy democracy. Moreover, I know that international businesses have a mutually beneficial role in supporting local organizations due to the resulting intrinsic satisfaction
I was excited to learn about the numerous internship opportunities that are offered by the Center for American Progress. I firmly believe that I can support the goals Center for American Progress and that my experience aligns with what you’re looking for.
Diversity in the workplace is a subject that has gained increased attention in the workplace over the past few years. After all, the impact of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity programs on the nation's work force is undeniable. Women and minorities were the first to dramatically alter the face of the economic mainstream, while gays, persons with disabilities and senior citizens followed not far behind. The result is a diverse American labor force representing a microcosm of our society - yet one that continues to struggle with its identity. Diversity as a social condition is not new to America. We were founded as a nation of Diversity. “America has always been a merger of cultures and, as such, has undergone periods of
A leader must first of all be able to model the techniques and processes that they want their teachers to employ with the students. For this reason leaders should use an effective board spectrum of educational tools to help teachers reach students of the 21st century. One of the great tools being used today is the increase in the amount of technology used in the classroom. From iPad to chromo books to cellphones teachers are using these forms of technology to enhance and deliver grade level curriculum (Korach, Agans 2011 216-233).
